Home » Top stories » EDGNEX Announces AI-Powered Data Center in Jakarta
EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC, a global digital infrastructure company, announced the development of a next-generation AI-powered data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. This is its second data center in the Indonesian market. The project is one of Southeast Asia's largest AI-dedicated developments. It will have a future capacity of 144 MW and a total investment of US$ 2.3 billion.
Following DAMAC's land acquisition in March 2025, early construction phases have begun. The facility's phase one is expected to be ready by December 2026. The Jakarta data center will deploy high-density AI racks, setting new benchmarks for next-generation infrastructure in the region.
This development plays a key role in Indonesia's digital journey. It aims to accelerate the country's shift from analogue to a robust, AI-powered digital economy. Indonesia is a high-potential market but faces gaps in digital infrastructure, limited hyperscale readiness, and rising latency issues. With AI adoption increasing across sectors, this project responds to the nation's demand for scalable and energy-efficient infrastructure.
Hussain Sajwani, Founder of DAMAC Group, stated, 'This is our second project in Indonesia, reinforcing our commitment to bridging the digital divide in fast-growing Southeast Asian markets. We are proud to build what will become one of Southeast Asia's most advanced, sustainable data centers. This facility will power the next wave of innovation and digital growth.'
The data center aims for a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.32, enhancing energy efficiency while aligning with EDGNEX's global sustainability standards. It builds on EDGNEX's presence in Thailand, Malaysia, and other key Southeast Asian markets.
In 2024, EDGNEX announced its first Indonesian data center, a planned 19.2 MW facility at MT Haryono in Jakarta. Located in Jakarta's central data hub, it will address growing demand from cloud service providers, edge nodes, and AI deployments. The first phase is scheduled for completion in Q3 2026.
EDGNEX aims for over 300 MW of operational capacity in Southeast Asia by 2026. The Jakarta AI data center will have 144 MW capacity and cost US$ 2.3 billion
Phase one expected to be operational by December 2026
Project targets PUE of 1.32, promoting energy efficiency and sustainability
This ambitious project highlights EDGNEX's commitment to digital infrastructure investment across Southeast Asia.

Amazon Bazaar Brings Ultra‑Low‑Cost Shopping to UAE
Arabian Post Staff Amazon UAE has introduced Amazon Bazaar, a budget‑friendly shopping hub embedded within the mobile app, offering users a curated selection of fashion, lifestyle and homeware products—most priced at AED 25 or less, with some deals dropping to AED 4. The new Bazaar section operates independently within the app, featuring its own search, cart and checkout systems. Launched in beta for select UAE customers, it is set for a broader rollout in the coming weeks. ADVERTISEMENT According to Stefano Martinelli, Vice‑President for Amazon Middle East and North Africa, Amazon Bazaar aims to transform low‑cost e‑commerce in the region. The experience is designed to be vibrant and engaging, allowing shoppers to discover affordable trends and complete purchases with ease. Prices start as low as AED 4, with most items across multiple categories priced under AED 25. As a launch incentive, customers will receive 25 per cent off all Amazon Bazaar orders during the first month after the rollout, with additional volume-based discounts—5 per cent off orders above AED 150 and 10 per cent off above AED 300. Free delivery is available for orders reaching AED 90, and items typically arrive within six to twelve days. Most products also include a 15‑day free‑returns policy. E‑commerce analysts observe that the UAE market, which is projected to exceed US $13.8 billion by 2029, is increasingly competitive. Amazon's Bazaar offering positions it to capture consumers seeking affordability without sacrificing convenience. The platform's intuitive interface addresses the growing demand for friction‑less, value-driven shopping experiences. Industry observers note that Bazaar's independent search and checkout features enable faster browsing cycles and encourage impulse buys, especially given the psychologically appealing low‑price anchor of AED 4. Tiered discounts further nudge larger cart sizes, reinforcing basket‑building behaviour in consumers. To access Bazaar, users simply update their app, tap the 'Bazaar' icon or enter 'Bazaar' in the search field. It is also accessible via mobile browser at For now, availability is limited to a beta group of UAE customers. Full access will be granted in stages. Amazon emphasises Bazaar's underlying reliability, mirroring the parent platform's delivery and return protocols, assuring users of a trustworthy shopping environment. With its bold move into the ultra‑low‑price segment, Amazon is expanding into a space traditionally occupied by value‑oriented marketplaces. Bazaar undercuts conventional discount retailers, packing everything from trendy accessories to home essentials into a compact, digital storefront tailored for cost‑conscious UAE consumers. Marketing messaging hints that customer feedback during the beta phase will shape Bazaar's evolution—adding products, refining the interface and expanding discount ranges. Martinelli stated the team 'look forward to customer feedback as we continue to enhance and expand the selection, helping them save more while they shop.'

UAE approves robo-advisory services for licensed portfolio management firms
The UAE's Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) on Tuesday allowed licensed portfolio management firms to offer robo-advisory services, marking a strategic step toward establishing a secure digital investment environment in the country. The regulator said it approved the regulation of the robo-advisor service, allowing firms to provide services through digital platforms that utilise artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and advanced algorithms to deliver automated investment recommendations. To ensure investor protection, the SCA's regulatory framework sets mandatory independent IT audits, rigorous cybersecurity standards, regular reviews of algorithms and systems, and full disclosure of the service's costs and risks. Portfolio management services are typically provided by large banks and financial firms to their high-net-worth clients and private companies, enabling them to grow their wealth and achieve their financial goals. These firms provide tailored investment strategies, asset allocation and ongoing management of investment portfolios. According to Boston Consulting Group's Global Wealth Report 2024, the UAE's net wealth reached $2.9 trillion in 2023 as financial wealth grew by 10 per cent from 2022 to 2023. These services uphold high standards of governance, transparency, and investor protection within the approved portfolio management frameworks, whether discretionary or non-discretionary and in accordance with client agreements. Waleed Saeed Al Awadhi, CEO of the SCA, said this project reinforces the UAE's position as a world-class financial centre by advancing continuous innovation and implementing dynamic regulatory frameworks designed to address future market challenges. 'The integration of artificial intelligence into investment decision-making is not merely a technological development, it is a transformative turning point that enhances portfolio management efficiency and unlocks unprecedented opportunities to empower investors with smart, sustainable, and secure financial solutions,' said Al Awadhi. The robo-advisor services will advance the competitiveness of the UAE's financial markets, accelerate digital adoption, and contribute to the UAE's 'We the UAE 2031' vision of building a knowledge-based, competitive, and sustainable economy. The Securities and Commodities Authority said robo-advisory services are part of its initiative to advance financial inclusion by broadening access to intelligent and secure investment solutions.
