Amazon Bazaar Brings Ultra‑Low‑Cost Shopping to UAE
Amazon UAE has introduced Amazon Bazaar, a budget‑friendly shopping hub embedded within the Amazon.ae mobile app, offering users a curated selection of fashion, lifestyle and homeware products—most priced at AED 25 or less, with some deals dropping to AED 4.
The new Bazaar section operates independently within the app, featuring its own search, cart and checkout systems. Launched in beta for select UAE customers, it is set for a broader rollout in the coming weeks.

According to Stefano Martinelli, Vice‑President for Amazon Middle East and North Africa, Amazon Bazaar aims to transform low‑cost e‑commerce in the region. The experience is designed to be vibrant and engaging, allowing shoppers to discover affordable trends and complete purchases with ease. Prices start as low as AED 4, with most items across multiple categories priced under AED 25.
As a launch incentive, customers will receive 25 per cent off all Amazon Bazaar orders during the first month after the rollout, with additional volume-based discounts—5 per cent off orders above AED 150 and 10 per cent off above AED 300. Free delivery is available for orders reaching AED 90, and items typically arrive within six to twelve days. Most products also include a 15‑day free‑returns policy.
E‑commerce analysts observe that the UAE market, which is projected to exceed US $13.8 billion by 2029, is increasingly competitive. Amazon's Bazaar offering positions it to capture consumers seeking affordability without sacrificing convenience. The platform's intuitive interface addresses the growing demand for friction‑less, value-driven shopping experiences.
Industry observers note that Bazaar's independent search and checkout features enable faster browsing cycles and encourage impulse buys, especially given the psychologically appealing low‑price anchor of AED 4. Tiered discounts further nudge larger cart sizes, reinforcing basket‑building behaviour in consumers.
To access Bazaar, users simply update their Amazon.ae app, tap the 'Bazaar' icon or enter 'Bazaar' in the search field. It is also accessible via mobile browser at amazon.ae/bazaar.
For now, availability is limited to a beta group of UAE customers. Full access will be granted in stages. Amazon emphasises Bazaar's underlying reliability, mirroring the parent platform's delivery and return protocols, assuring users of a trustworthy shopping environment.
With its bold move into the ultra‑low‑price segment, Amazon is expanding into a space traditionally occupied by value‑oriented marketplaces. Bazaar undercuts conventional discount retailers, packing everything from trendy accessories to home essentials into a compact, digital storefront tailored for cost‑conscious UAE consumers.
Marketing messaging hints that customer feedback during the beta phase will shape Bazaar's evolution—adding products, refining the interface and expanding discount ranges. Martinelli stated the team 'look forward to customer feedback as we continue to enhance and expand the selection, helping them save more while they shop.'

Francesca Albanese: Tech firms profiting from Israeli 'economy of genocide'
A UN expert has called on corporations to cut ties with Israel and for executives to be held accountable for enabling and profiting from crimes including illegal occupation, apartheid and genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories. UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese's call for action comes in a scathing new report in which she names over 60 companies, including major technology firms like Google, Amazon and Microsoft, alleging their involvement in what she calls "the transformation of Israel's economy of occupation to an economy of genocide". "By shedding light on the political economy of an occupation turned genocidal, the report reveals how the forever-occupation has become the ideal testing ground for arms manufacturers and Big Tech . . . while investors and private and public institutions profit freely," Albanese writes in the report. "Too many influential corporate entities remain inextricably financially bound to Israel's apartheid and militarism." The detailed, 24-page report, which is set to be presented to the UN Human Rights Council on Thursday, identifies dozens of corporate actors, including those involved in the arms, technology, construction and energy sectors, which it says are complicit. DEWA Partners with Google Cloud to Deploy Generative AI Across Operations
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to integrate generative AI across its core operations, marking a major step toward becoming the world's first AI-native utility. The collaboration was unveiled during a high-level meeting between HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and Ziad Jammal, General Manager of Google Cloud for the UAE, Levant, and North Africa. Key executives from both organisations attended the meeting, underscoring the significance of the partnership. Central to the initiative is the adoption of Google Cloud's NotebookLM technology, which DEWA has used to launch a new series of AI-generated podcasts. The tool has enabled DEWA to cut production costs by over 99% and improve turnaround time by more than 95%, while also expanding multilingual content delivery. HE Al Tayer stated that the initiative supports the UAE's National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and aligns with Dubai's broader vision of becoming a global leader in digital transformation. 'We are working to make DEWA the world's first AI-native utility, enhancing innovation, speed, and scalability without additional operational burden,' he said. The initiative is expected to deliver AED 25.5 million in annualised cost savings, with resources redirected to other strategic priorities. Google Cloud's support was key to the project's success, reflecting its commitment to advancing AI adoption in the utility sector. As DEWA deepens its AI capabilities, the move reinforces its leadership in sustainability, innovation, and digital excellence on a global scale. News Source: Dubai Media Office
