‘Alien: Earth' Could, Eventually, Cross Over With the Movies

Gizmodo01-07-2025
Here's what we already know about Noah Hawley's upcoming series, Alien: Earth. It's set two years before the events of Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece, Alien. It follows several rival corporations competing over a crashed spaceship that contains multiple alien creatures, including the xenomorph. And one of those corporations will send a group of hybrids—robotic beings with the consciousness of humans—in to get the job done.
Which all sounds awesome but, also, tangential to the stories we know and love. Stories about Ripley, the Nostromo, LV-426, Colonial Marines, etc. Will Alien: Earth take those events into consideration or, maybe even, cross over with them? The answer is yes. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Hawley revealed that a potential crossover with the films is absolutely in his tentative plans for the show.
'I don't yet know, in terms of the series from beginning to end, how much time is going to pass or where we're going to end up,' he said. 'But I do know that at a certain point, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation is going to divert the Nostromo to that planet.'
To explain, if Alien: Earth is set on Earth two years before the events of Alien, the crew of the Nostromo are currently in hypersleep. Eventually, they'll get woken up and told to go to LV-426, where they'll pick up their unwanted visitor. So, depending on how long events of the show go on, that has to happen eventually. What we don't know is how the Nostromo's owners, Weyland-Yutani, knew about the creature being there or who made the decision to send the ship to the planet and why. 'We have the opportunity to maybe see what was happening on the other side of that phone call,' Hawley said.
The best part of this tease is that it's miles away from the story Hawley is going to tell come August. His story will not only explore what was happening on Earth as the horror was happening in space but also explain why. And it sounds like a lot. For much, much more from Hawley on Alien: Earth, head to Vanity Fair to read the excellent profile. And we'll have more on the show later this month.
Alien: Earth debuts August 12.

Cameron Boyce's Mom Reacts to Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore 2 Tribute

Originally appeared on E! Online Libby Boyce was touched by Adam Sandler's tribute to her son. Indeed, Cameron Boyce, who died in 2019 at age 20 after suffering a seizure in his sleep, makes a small appearance in the Saturday Night Live alum's new Netflix movie Happy Gilmore 2. 'Adam always finds a way to keep Cams memory alive,' Libby wrote on Instagram July 27, 'which warms our heart.' She went on to detail the friendship between Adam and Cameron, who starred together as father and son in the Grown Ups movies. 'Adam and Cameron talked quite a bit in the days leading up to his death,' Libby shared. 'Cameron was supposed to be in Hubies [sic] Halloween and they were strategizing. They had a bond I think related to being authentic, funny and just keeping it real.' E! News has reached out to Cameron's family for comment and has not yet heard back. While Adam's inclusion of Cameron in Happy Gilmore 2—a blink-and-you-miss moment of the then-teen star in one of his Disney Channel shows sneakily shown on a TV screen in the background—was celebrated by the family and fans online, it's not the first tribute Adam has paid to his former costar. "In loving memory of CAMERON BOYCE," the tribute read, alongside a picture of the Descendants star. "Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day." Since his death, Cameron's mom has also regularly shared sweet memories of her son, including earlier this month near the sixth anniversary of his sudden passing. 'Cameron loved and felt dance on a deep level,' Libby wrote on Instagram July 11 alongside a picture of her son in a dance class. Rocker's Incredibly Private Son Joins Band Onstage for First-Ever Concert Appearance

Rocker's Incredibly Private Son Joins Band Onstage for First-Ever Concert Appearance originally appeared on Parade. Shinedown fans were surprised with a downright treat during their stop in Milwaukee on Saturday, July 26, when the band's lead singer, , brought out his teenage son for an incredibly rare appearance. Lyric Santana Smith, who is clearly following in his dad's musical footsteps, joined the band on stage for a song on their Dance, Kid, Dance Tour, shocking audience members as he made his stage debut like a true pro. In a brief clip of the sentimental moment uploaded to TikTok by one attendee, Lyric, decked out in a Shinedown hoodie and a light pair of jeans, played an electric guitar while mouthing the words to the band's hit 2008 track 'Second Chance' as his dad belted it out. Meanwhile, Smith looked back at him several times with a giant smile on his face. Lyric looked just as pleased with himself, smiling back at his dad at one point and giving a big wave to the crowd as the song ended. Smith and his son both lead very private lives outside of his work with Shinedown, so, naturally, fans were shocked to see the teen hit the stage. In fact, many had never seen him before at all. "OMFG HE'S ALL GROWN UP! I love this❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," one fan gushed, as another admitted, "Such a rare sighting as Brent it so private about him many people didn't even know about Lyric! That is such a special moment!" "Omg this is the first time I have seen his son as I know how private he is. The smile says it all. ❤️," another agreed. One fan was so shocked they wrote, "I think my jaw just dislocated when my mouth dropped 🤯🤯🤯." Fans were also touched by the singer's reaction to his son's performance, with several drawing attention to the smile on Smith's face when he looked back at his son. "Love this!!! He's definitely one proud dad!!!" one exclaimed. "What a moment for his son!! So awesome!!!!" "look how Brent looks back 😍❤️," another encouraged, with someone else reiterating, "Brent smile says how proud he is ❤️."Rocker's Incredibly Private Son Joins Band Onstage for First-Ever Concert Appearance first appeared on Parade on Jul 28, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 28, 2025, where it first appeared. Julia Garner Recalls How She Convinced Madonna to Cast Her in Upcoming Bio Project: ‘I Owned It'

The "Ozark" star says the delayed Universal biopic is "supposed to still happen" after being shelved in 2023 Julia Garner is still ready to step into Madonna's 'Material Girl' shoes. The three-time Emmy Award winner confirmed on Monday's episode of the 'Smartless' podcast to hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes that the shelved Universal biopic is still in the works. More from TheWrap Lindsay Lohan's Toddler Son Thought She Was Trapped in the TV During 'GMA' Appearance: 'Mommy, Come Out!' | Video Greg Gutfeld Says Network Late Night Is 'Safe' and 'Suffocating': 'Beholden to Publicists and Celebrities' | Video Amazon Sets Medical Drama 'God Complex' for Development From Sonay Hoffman and Tommy Benjamin NBC Sets Fall Premieres for NBA, 'The Voice,' 'Brilliant Minds' and More 'Is that going to still happen?' Hayes asked, to which the 'Inventing Anna' actress responded, 'Yeah, I mean, that's supposed to still happen.' Garner admitted to the podcast trio that in order to hype herself up for the audition she thought to herself, 'What would Madonna do?' '[She would] convince you that she deserves, you know, to be in this room, and I owned it,' she said of her audition. 'I was kind of like, 'You can take it or leave it, but if you leave it, if I leave, then that's on you.'' 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' actress said she was aware of the project and went into the audition just to prove to herself that she could do it. 'I wasn't a trained dancer and I had to learn how to dance and then dance in front of her and convince her that I can dance, basically,' she recalled. 'And sing. And sing with her!' After the feature film was delayed by Universal in 2023, Netflix and 'Stranger Things' producer and director Shawn Levy teamed up with the music legend about her life and career. The project is still in development, but it would be Levy's latest title with Netflix after 'The Perfect Couple' and 'All the Light We Cannot See.' It is unclear if the series will capture the 'Queen of Pop''s entire career and discography or if it will focus in on a specific time period of her life. Madonna has made several attempts over the years to get a biopic about her life and career off the ground. Madonna intended to direct the Julia Garner-led film version of the story. Erin Cressida Wilson and Diablo Cody worked on the script for Universal before it was shelved by the studio. The upcoming Levy limited series is completely unrelated to the Universal feature. Madonna brought out Garner to perform with her on her 'Celebration' tour in 2023 for a segment themed to her hit 'Vogue.' The pair have remained in touch, with the 'Ozark' star posting with the music legend at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in March with the caption: ' see you @madonna.' You can listen to the full 'Smartless' episode here. The post Julia Garner Recalls How She Convinced Madonna to Cast Her in Upcoming Bio Project: 'I Owned It' appeared first on TheWrap.
