Alejandro Garnacho sends message to Chelsea as Man Utd slash asking price

Metro6 days ago
Manchester United have significantly lowered their £70 million asking price for Chelsea to sign Alejandro Garnacho this summer, according to reports.
Ruben Amorim has made it clear to Garnacho that he has no future at Old Trafford after he was left out of the squad for United's final Premier League game last season and benched for the Europa League final against Spurs in May.
Garnacho took aim at Amorim after he was dropped for the Europa League final defeat to Spurs in Bilbao and indicated that his future is in doubt.
The Argentina international had attracted interest from both Chelsea and Napoli in the January transfer window but were unwilling to meet United's £70m asking price.
According to ESPN, United are now willing to accept a £40m fee for Garnacho this summer with Chelsea, Aston Villa and the Saudi Pro League all interested.

The report adds that Garnacho's preference is to remain in the Premier League and join a club who will be playing in the Champions League next season, which makes Chelsea the frontrunners for his signature if they followed up their interest.
Garnacho did not travel to Sweden for United's goalless draw against Leeds United for their first pre-season friendly on Saturday. More Trending
The 21-year-old will also be left out of the squad that will travel to the United States for their three-game pre-season tour this week.
When asked about his future after United's defeat in the Europa League final, Garnacho said: 'The game has an impact, but the season itself, the club's situation… I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.'
Napoli had also held talks to sign Garnacho in the January transfer window as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in a €70m (£58.9m) deal.
However, the Serie A champions claimed the deal fell apart as Garnacho's wage demands were not in line with the rest of their squad.

Conor Coady sees Leicester close Rangers escape route as wait for key transfer trigger continues

Russell Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell have been keen on the centre-back throughout the summer Boss Marti Cifuentes has dropped a major hint that he wants to keep Conor Coady at the club amid interest from Rangers. ‌ The defender has been a target at Ibrox all summer - with both the Scottish Premiership giants and Coady had keen to make a deal happen. ‌ The England cap had been keen to link up with Russell Martin in time for the Champions League qualification double-header against Panathinaikos. ‌ However, he has remained with the Foxes following the arrival of Cifuentes as they prepare for the English Championship campaign after Premier League relegation. The 32-year-old has remained as captain going into the new season - and was handed his first 90 minutes of pre-season during the 3-1 defeat to Cologne. With the league opener against Sheffield Wednesday less than two weeks away, Cifuentes admits that the players handed a run-out for the full game are being considered as starters this term. Cifuentes told club media: 'According to where we are in pre-season, it will be a direct competition from day one to see who would be in the starting line-up against Sheffield Wednesday. "It must be a healthy competition between all the players. Today has been a step forward in the right direction in that sense. ‌ 'In the first game I wanted to share minutes to give an opportunity to everyone. But today was about as many players as possible getting 90 minutes. It will be very valuable. 'It's not only in terms of approaching the next couple of weeks, but as well for me learning about where we are as a team.' The Leicester Mercury report that Coady will only be allowed to leave the King Power Stadium if the cash-strapped club can find a replacement. ‌ The Foxes have yet to make their first signing of the summer with reports south of the border suggesting goalkeeper Asmir Begovic could be coming through the door before a new centre-back. It is noted that an experienced replacement for Coady is on the agenda - but appears to be some way off at this stage of the window. Kelly issues response to doubters after Euro 2025-winning penalty

The 27-year-old scored the decisive spot-kick for England to win the shootout 3-1 as scores remained level at 1-1 against Spain after extra-time. Kelly had come on for the injured Lauren James after 40 minutes and delivered a pinpoint cross to assist Alessia Russo for the equaliser in the second half. It was yet another decisive impact at Euro 2025 from Kelly, who has seen her fortunes transform since joining Arsenal on loan in January this year. 'There were a lot of tears at full-time, especially when I saw my family because those were the people that got me through those tough dark moments,' she reflected. 'That's a story to tell someone that experiences something similar, tough times don't last. 'Just around the corner was a Champions League final, won that. Then a Euros final, won that. Thank you to everyone that wrote me off, I'm grateful." "England are crowned queens of European football again!" 😍 Re-live it all! 👇🍿 Having started the domestic season at Manchester City, Kelly found herself outcast from the squad and struggling to get minutes even as a substitute. But a post on her Instagram story in January stating she wanted to be 'happy again' forced a loan move to Arsenal on deadline day. Having been dropped by England, the following months saw her earn a starting spot in north London and force her way back into favour with Sarina Wiegman, for whom she had plenty of praise. 'She's bloody amazing. She's an incredible woman, what she's done for this country, we should all be so grateful for,' said Kelly. 'What she's done for me individually, she gave me hope when I probably didn't have any. She gave me an opportunity to represent my country again. I knew that I had to get game time and representing England is never a given. "But what she's done for the women's game, not just in England, in the Netherlands she's done it, she's taken it to a whole other level. 'The work doesn't go unnoticed from the staff behind her, they're incredible people and I'm so grateful to have worked with such amazing staff members.' And the Arsenal forward has truly repaid Wiegman's faith in her this tournament. Her 78th-minute introduction in the quarter-finals against Sweden proved decisive as she delivered an assist just over 60 seconds after coming on, before setting up the equaliser just two minutes after that as England drew 2-2. In the semi-finals, too, Kelly scored the winner to send England through to the final and while her introduction came far earlier at St. Jakob Park against Spain, her impact was not reduced. With a knack for delivering in the biggest moments, having scored the winner at Wembley in 2022, she once more stepped up with an assist for the equaliser and a match-winning penalty fired into the top left hand corner. Having done it all before, her celebration was as cool as it gets for a championship winning goal, but the moment still meant everything to the forward who has capped off a fairytale story of redemption. 'I just came onto the pitch and wanted to make something happen. I know Less [Russo]'s strengths and just wanted to put the ball on her head,' Kelly reflected. 'Of course, taking the penalty, I actually missed three penalties in training yesterday but the belief in the squad, in the whole 23 players and the staff members to get us through this tournament. 'I'm really proud to be English right now and I'm proud to be part of an amazing group of girls.'
