Sir Ringo Starr shares The Beatles' 'biggest fear'
The Beatles' "biggest fear" was being asked to read music. The Love Me Do hitmakers may have written and performed some of the biggest songs in the world, but all four members - Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Ringo Starr, and the late George Harrison and John Lennon - were afraid their shortcomings would be revealed if they had to carry out tests to be part of a musicians' union. Ringo told the New York Times newspaper: 'The biggest fear, a long time ago, was that the union was going to make us all read music. Because none of us — John, Paul, George and Ringo — none of us read music. I thought, well, I'll go play tambourine then.' Ringo was the last member of the group to start writing songs, but his efforts often reduced his bandmates to laughter with his unintentional mimicry. He said: 'It's hard to come to the front when you've got John and Paul. 'I'd say, 'I've got this song.' And halfway through they'd all be laying on the floor laughing, because I wasn't writing new songs. I was writing new words to old songs.' Paul confirmed: 'We'd say, 'Yeah, that's a great one. That's a great Bob Dylan song.' ' The 84-year-old drummer is often shocked by his age. He said: 'It blows me away. I look in the mirror and I'm 24. I never got older than 24. 'But guess what? You did.' Ringo credits his love of music for keeping him feeling young. He said: 'Well, I love what I'm doing... 'When I first started, my mother would come to the gigs. She would always say, 'You know, son, I always feel you're at your happiest when you're playing your drums.' So she noticed. And I do.' He smiled. 'I love to hit those buggers.' Ringo used to act in the past but is no longer particularly interested any more. Asked if he misses it, he said: 'I don't barely, no. I'm just playing now, live and in the studio making records.' Both Ringo and Paul agree that the loss of their former bandmates has strengthened their bond. Paul said: 'With John and George not here, I think we realise nothing lasts forever. "So we grasp onto what we have now because we realise that it's very special. It's something hardly anyone else has. "In fact, in our case, it's something no one else has. There's only me and Ringo, and we're the only people who can share those memories.'

Kelly Osbourne gets engaged at Black Sabbath's final gig
Kelly Osbourne confirmed her engagement to her partner, Slipnot's Sid Wilson, at her father Ozzy Osbourne's final gig on Saturday. The reality TV star daughter of the rocker took to Instagram Sunday to share clip of the proposal, which occurred the night backstage at Ozzy's farewell gig at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. Surrounded by family and friends, and the Osbournes, the Slipknot member said, "Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world." Ozzy, 76, then jokingly interrupted, saying, "F**k off, you're not marrying my daughter." Sharon Osbourne, 76, who was sitting next to her husband, also gave approval. "So in front of your family and all of our friends, Kelly, will you marry me?" the Wait and Bleed rocker asked her. She said in response: "You are my best friend, my soulmate and I am so deeply in love with you Sidney George Wilson." Kelly and Sidney share a 2-year-old son, Sidney, whom they welcomed in November 2022.

Brian McFadden marries again
Brian McFadden has married for a third time. The former Westlife singer - who was previously wed to singer Kerry Katona from 2002 to 2006, and later god engaged to Delta Goodrem before marrying model Vogue Williams in 2012, only to separate three years later - has tied the knot with Danielle Parkinson after nine years together. The couple, who are parents to Ruby, four, were joined by friends and family including Brian and Kerry's daughters Molly, 23, and Lilly, 22, at the nuptials on Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay on Saturday (05.07.25). Both Brian and Danielle have shared photos and videos from the wedding on their Instagram accounts, showing their matching white outfits, as well as sharing photos from their guests on their Instagram Stories. The 46-year-old pop star proposed to the PE teacher in 2019 and the couple originally planned to marry in 2021, but pushed back their plans by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And they then decided to further delay the wedding until their daughter was old enough to join in and guests could mingle freely without worrying about social distancing. Speaking to OK! magazine, in June 2021 after the first postponement: 'We've moved it again. We were meant to get married in South Africa this coming January but with Covid and Ruby only being nine months old by then, it could be difficult. 'So we've put it back another year to 2023. 'Ruby will be walking by then and hopefully the world will be in a different state, and people won't have to worry about testing and isolating as we're having 50 guests.' Brian recently admitted he regrets not being around much for his eldest daughters when they were young. In an interview with Closer magazine, he said: 'I was only a kid myself when I had Molly and Lilly, and I was at the height of my career in Westlife then - we were literally working 365 days a year, and there was no FaceTime so I couldn't speak to the kids. "I could only see them when I came home. So it was a lot harder and I missed out on a lot of the stuff that I would have loved to have seen with the girls.' He revealed things are very different with his youngest girl - and he's determined to be a hands-on father. He added: 'With Ruby, I have a lot more time so I can be at home and be a hands-on dad. 'It's the only thing I like about modern technology, that I can speak to all my children now whenever I want - which is a luxury we didn't have in the past.'
