Noel Gallagher arrives for Oasis gig by train

Yahoo8 hours ago
Oasis star Noel Gallagher opted to get to Cardiff by train ahead of the band's much-hyped gig in the city on Friday.
Eagle-eyed fan Joey, 16, spotted the Mancunian rock star on one of the platforms at about 14:00 BST on Tuesday.
He said: "It felt so surreal seeing a rock icon live in the flesh. Their music has been such a big part in my parents' life and also mine too. I can't wait to see them both live on Friday."
Oasis kick off their global reunion tour at the Principality Stadium on Friday - the first gig as a band for 16 years - before performing in countries including the United States, Brazil and Australia.

Gallagher is not the first star to arrive in the capital by train ahead of big gigs in recent years.
Billy Joel was photographed standing next to a train manager in August last year on the London Paddington to Cardiff service.
The US singer-songwriter was on his way to his first ever gig in the Welsh capital after selling out the Principality Stadium.
Meanwhile Coldplay, who have stopped touring in the past due to environmental concerns, did the same in 2023.
Lead singer Chris Martin was spotted at Cardiff Central ahead of the band's two nights of gigs.
Motorists have been advised to check the Traffic Wales website and plan ahead with the M4 motorway expected to be very busy ahead of both concerts.
Cardiff council said there would be a full road closure around the stadium on both concert days from 12:00 until midnight, with the full list of roads here.
They said event parking would be available at Sophia Gardens and the civic centre.
A park and ride service is also being operated by the council from the Sports Village in Cardiff Bay from 09:00 onwards.
Rail services are also expected to be very busy despite Transport for Wales providing extra capacity on trains in and out of Cardiff wherever possible.
GWR said it would be operating six extra trains out of Cardiff.
Due to the road closures, bus routes will be diverted with the full details found here.

Bradford youngster kicks off new TV show with Lionesses

A YOUNG Bradford actor features in a new football TV show alongside star players from England's Lionesses. Daya Singh Athwal, 12, is in CBeebies series Football Fantastics, which starts tomorrow. The live-action scripted series is described as "a high-energy, feel-good comedy that celebrates friendship, fun, and the beautiful game". Set in Yorkshire, it follows six children who come together every weekend at their local football group, where friendships are forged and epic adventures unfold both on and off the pitch. The series, produced by Strike, the team behind CBBC hit series Jamie Johnson FC, features cameos from Lionesses including Alessia Russo, Chloe Kelly, Fran Kirby and BBC Sports Personality of the Year Beth Mead, as well as cameos from England's Olly Watkins and former Millwall and Leyton Orient player Charlotte Lynch in her acting debut - plus special regular guest star, former England goalkeeper Jill Scott. Daya, who attends drama classes at Baildon-based drama school and acting agency, Articulate Agency, has had roles in the Secret Lives of 5 Year Olds, two TV commercials and short films Raj's Story and The Boat Story. "Being part of the Football Fantastics was amazing," said Daya. "I got to do two of my favourite things at once - play football and act! I had so much fun and learned a lot too. My weekly drama classes with Articulate and LAMDA lessons really helped me to feel confident on set and bring my character to life." Football Fantastics comes to CBeebies and BBC iPlayer in line with BBC's Summer of Sport and the Women's Euros. Says Jill Scott: "It was a pleasure to be involved in such an exciting, funny and important show. "The kids are so talented and inspiring for anyone involved in the game at any level, especially with a female coach!' Creator of Football Fantastics Sam Talbot said: 'With Football Fantastics, we wanted to capture the sheer joy of the game - the laughter, the friendships, the unforgettable moments that happen both on and off the pitch in kids' football clubs, for both them and their parents. "It's a love letter to grassroots football and the amazing kids who turn up each week just for the fun of it. We're thrilled to have legends like Jill Scott and the Lionesses bring their magic to the show. It's all about inspiring the next generation while having a blast along the way." Articulate Agency works with top UK and US casting directors, producers and show runners to secure high-profile, roles. Youngsters at Articulate have been in TV dramas including Gentleman Jack, Last Tango in Halifax and All Creatures Great and Small.

Major fire shuts part of London Underground causing commuter chaos

Commuters in London are facing severe disruptions this morning (Friday 4) after a major fire brought Tube trains to a halt. The blaze began underneath railway arches in Roxeth Green Avenue in South Harrow around 1am. London Fire Brigade (LFB) deployed 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines to contain the fire, which was under control by 4am. There are no reports of injuries. The fire at railway arches in South #Harrow is under control and there are no reports of likely to remain on scene for several hours and severe disruption is expected on the Piccadilly Tube line as a result of this — London Fire Brigade (@LondonFire) July 4, 2025 However, parts of the Piccadilly line between South Harrow and Uxbridge remain closed. Transport for London (TfL) reports that there are also severe delays on the westbound line only between Acton Town and South Harrow. London Underground tickets are being accepted on local bus services in the interim. LFB received the first of around 40 calls about the fire at 1.18am and mobilised crews from Harrow, Wembley, Stanmore, Ruislip and surrounding fire stations to the scene. Two 32-metre turntable ladders attended and were used as water towers to help extinguish the fire from above. A drone was also deployed, providing the Incident Commander with a greater situational awareness of the incident. Road closures are currently in place in Roxeth Green Avenue, near the junction of The Arches, and are expected to remain in place through the morning. According to the LFB, an unknown number of gas cylinders at the site are believed to have exploded during the early stages of the incident. Firefighters safely removed two further cylinders and cooled them to an ambient temperature, as gas cylinders can explode when exposed to heat. Local residents were advised by authorities to keep their windows and doors closed because of the smoke. The cause of the fire, which severely damaged vehicle workshops, businesses and other commercial properties, is under investigation.
