X has announced a new partnership with app analytics provider AppsFlyer, which will enable X advertisers to glean more insight into the performance of their X ads.
The new Advanced Self-Reporting Network (SRN) integration will enable X advertisers to track conversions stemming from their X ads, with more accurate determinations of actual results, improving ROAS measurement.
As explained by X:
'The Advanced SRN integration between AppsFlyer and X Ads uses two complementary methods of attribution. When users make their device IDs available on both the advertiser's app and on the X app, AppsFlyer uses deterministic attribution through device ID matching, which accounts for approximately 25% of iOS traffic. For the majority of users who don't share their device IDs, AppsFlyer applies privacy-compliant modeling to ensure those conversions are measured and fueled into the attribution logic.'
So it'll give you more data on your ad performance, with more specific figures related to audience response, based on AppsFlyer's measurement methodology.
Which, in some cases, uses estimation, but it's a more informed approach than relying on existing iOS tracking methods, giving you additional insight into your X campaigns.
'By combining these two methodologies within AppsFlyer's privacy-centric attribution engine, the Advanced SRN offers advertisers the best of both worlds and provides complete, accurate, and responsible measurement for all scenarios.'
AppsFlyer also offers further qualification via its Single Source of Truth (SSOT) measurement, which provides extra validation of X traffic.
'Advanced SRN and SSOT give advertisers both control and clarity across the entire iOS measurement stack - an interconnected approach that improves visibility and drives real results. According to AppsFlyer data, advertisers using SSOT have seen effective cost per install (eCPI) drop by an average of 27%, thanks to better, more accurate optimization signals.'
So, essentially, you now have access to third-party measurement for your X ads, which will give you more insight into campaign performance and actual results.
Which could help you optimize your X ads, ensuring you're reaching the right people with your offerings.
It's another consideration for your X ads strategy, feeding more insight into your approach.

7 hidden Roku tricks every user should know

Your Roku does way more than just stream Netflix and Hulu. Beneath its familiar interface lies clever features and shortcuts that can improve your streaming experience in surprising ways. Most people never discover these lesser-known tricks, missing out on convenient tools that save time and frustration every day. Some features help you navigate more efficiently, while others solve common problems you didn't even realize had solutions. There are also hidden settings that protect your privacy and secret screens that aren't mentioned anywhere in the official documentation. Whether you're a longtime Roku user or just got started, these hidden features will improve your experience with one of the best streaming devices. Instead of managing separate watchlists across Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and every other streaming service, Roku lets you create one master list that works across all services. Use the Roku OS to search for shows and movies you want to watch, then select Add to Save List on each title's details page. This saves everything to a universal watchlist that you can access by going to the Roku home screen and selecting What to Watch. Your universal list shows everything in one place, making it much easier to decide what to watch next. The physical Roku remote is functional, but your phone can do so much more. Download the Roku Official Remote Control app for iOS or Android and you'll get a full keyboard for easy searching, the ability to stream content directly from your phone, as well as voice search. The app also lets you browse and launch channels without looking at your TV screen. You can type search terms quickly and if you lose the physical remote, your phone becomes an instant backup. The app even shows what's currently playing and gives you playback controls. If your remote has vanished into the couch cushions again, you don't need to tear apart your living room. If you have a remote with a speaker grille, open the Roku app, tap the microphone, and say "Hey, Roku, find my remote." The remote will start beeping so you can track it down. For Roku Ultra devices, just long-press the button on the right side of the device and the remote will beep. If you have a Voice Remote Pro, you can say "Hey, Roku, find my remote" directly to the TV and it will start beeping. Once you find it, press any button to stop the noise. You can even customize the beeping sound in Settings if the default tone isn't loud enough. When friends or family visit, they can use your Roku without messing up your recommendations, watchlists, or personal settings. Go to to set up a PIN, then press the Home button on your Roku remote and navigate to Settings, System, Guest Mode, and Enter Guest Mode. Then enter your PIN and select OK to activate it. Now guests can sign into their own streaming accounts and use the device normally, but their viewing history won't affect your algorithms and they can't see your personal content. Late-night binge-watching doesn't have to wake up your household. If you have a first-generation Voice Remote Pro, you can plug headphones directly into the remote's headphone jack and audio will automatically redirect from the TV to your headphones. For newer remotes without headphone jacks, use the Roku mobile app's Headphone Mode to listen through your phone's headphones or earbuds. The TV audio gets muted while you get full sound through your personal audio device. This works great for apartments, shared living spaces, or when your partner goes to bed early but you want to keep watching. Roku has hidden diagnostic screens can help you troubleshoot problems. These secret screens let you run network speed tests, view detailed system information, check channel installation logs, and perform various resets when your device isn't working properly. You can access these by pressing specific button combinations on your remote or entering special codes. To run a network speed test, press Home 5 times, then Up, Down, Up, Down, Up and you'll get access to speed testing, reset, and logging options. For a soft reset when your Roku is acting up, press Home 5 times, Up once, Rewind twice, and Fast Forward twice and your device will restart without erasing settings. The speed test screen is particularly useful for diagnosing streaming quality issues, showing you exactly how fast your internet connection is performing on the Roku device itself. Tired of being blasted awake by loud commercials or having to constantly adjust volume between quiet dialogue and loud action scenes? To avoid this, press the star button on your remote during playback, then navigate to Sound Settings and Volume Mode. Turn on Leveling to prevent sudden volume spikes from commercials and channel changes. You can also enable Night mode to boost quiet sounds and reduce loud ones, which is perfect for late-night viewing when you don't want to disturb others. For Roku Streambars and Soundbars, you'll find these options under Settings, Audio and Volume Modes instead. Women's dating safety app Tea hit by data breach impacting thousands of photos

A dating app for women to do background checks on men – and share information about potential bad actors – said it has been hacked, exposing tens of thousands of photos and other personal information. Tea, the company behind the Tea Dating Advice app, said in a July 25 alert posted on its website that a security breach compromised "a legacy data storage system" storing about 72,000 images. Images taken in the breach, which Tea learned about at 6:44 a.m. PST on July 25, include about 13,000 selfies and users' photo identification, plus about 59,000 images from posts, comments and direct messages within the app. No email addresses or phone numbers were accessed, according to Tea. The breach only affected users who signed up for the app before February 2024, the company said. In the app's early days, Tea required selfies and IDs "as an added layer of safety to ensure that only women were signing up for the app," according to the company's statement. The ID requirement was removed in 2023, Tea said. Third-party cybersecurity experts and Tea's internal security teams "are working around the clock to secure our systems. At this time, we have implemented additional security measures and have fixed the data issue," the company said in a statement to USA TODAY. "There is no evidence to suggest that additional user data was affected. Protecting our users' privacy and data is our highest priority," Tea said in its statement. "We are taking every necessary step to ensure the security of our platform and prevent further exposure." Hackers were able to exploit Tea's data storage system to access where data was stored before Feb. 24, 2024, because "during our early stages of development some legacy content was not migrated into our new fortified system," according to the company's statement. "As we grew our community, we migrated to a more robust and secure solution which has rendered that any new users from February 2024 until now were not part of the cybersecurity incident," the company said. The Tea Dating Advice app – its name comes from the phrase "spilling tea," or to share secrets or gossip – recently went viral, becoming the top free app in the Apple App Store this past week, claiming nearly 1 million new users, NBC News reported. Available for free on Android and iOS, Tea provides women a way to check the personal history of men including a "Reverse Image Search" feature to catch men catfishing, pretending to be someone else online to attract potential romantic partners. Other features include "Phone Number Lookup to check for hidden marriages, and Background Checks to uncover criminal records," according to the company's website. Women can also anonymously discuss men and give them "green" or "red" flags. "Tea ensures that women have the information they need before meeting someone new," the company says on its website. More than 1.7 million women have used the app, the company says. Reports from 404 Media and CNET say photos of some users and images of their drivers licenses were posted on 4Chan and Reddit message boards Friday. USA TODAY has reached out to Tea for comment about any identity theft concerns for users. If you joined the app before February 2024 and are concerned about your drivers license information or other personal information being misused, you can find tips on the Federal Trade Commission's Identity Theft website.
