Pioli wanted by Fiorentina and Juventus for 2025-26

Yahoo02-06-2025
After links with Juventus, now Stefano Pioli is being considered for a return to Fiorentina, but his Al-Nassr contract poses a problem.
The 59-year-old was pushed out by Milan a year ago and within weeks had secured a new extremely lucrative job in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr.

There had already been suggestions he was being targeted for a return to Serie A by Juventus, who sacked Thiago Motta in March and missed out on both Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini.

Now Sky Sport Italia point out they are not the only candidates, because Pioli is also on the wish list for Fiorentina.
The Viola had been content with coach Raffaele Palladino, until he suddenly tended his resignation and left them needing a replacement.

It would be a comeback to the Stadio Franchi for Pioli, who was already on the bench from 2017 to 2019 and remains extremely well loved by the fans and players.

However, his €12m per season contract with Al-Nassr is going to be tricky for him to get out of effectively.
Other candidates for Fiorentina include Alberto Gilardino and former Ajax boss Francesco Farioli.

Roma agree Solbakken sale to Nordsjaelland

Roma have reportedly agreed the sale of Ola Solbakken to Nordsjaelland, two and a half years since his move from Bodo/Glimt. According to Il Tempo and the player has already flown out to Norway to complete and medical and the two clubs are exchanging documents this evening. This had been an ill-fated transfer to the Stadio Olimpico as a free agent from Bodo/Glimt in January 2023. (Photo by) Solbakken made only 15 competitive appearances in the Giallorossi jersey, where he scored one goal and provided two assists. He went out on a series of loan spells to Olympiacos in Greece, Japanese club Urawa Reds, and spent last season in Serie A with relegated Empoli. Under contract with Roma until June 2027, this will nonetheless represent a profit for them, as he had arrived for free. It is going to be a permanent transfer and therefore get him off the Roma books. This is a return home for the Norway international, who has 11 senior caps for his country, able to play on the right, left or in a more central attacking role.

Bologna submit bid for West Bromwich Albion defender Torbjorn Heggem

Bologna have tabled a €6.5m bid to buy West Bromwich Albion centre-back Torbjörn Heggem. The 26-year-old Norway international was a stand-out performer in the Championship last season and has started to attract top flight interest. Bologna, who finished fifth in Serie A last season and won the Coppa Italia, are adding to their squad this summer and see Heggem as a player with potential. They have already submitted an opening offer for West Brom's player of the year and hope to do business ahead of the season opener on August 23. Advertisement West Brom want to keep their best players together this season as they target a promotion push under new head coach Ryan Mason, but big-money offers could change their stance. Heggem is recognised as one of the most valuable assets despite only signing for the club last summer on a three-year deal from Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna. Previous big earners like John Swift, Grady Diangana, and Semi Ajayi have been moved this summer after their contracts expired. That has allowed the club to bring in two new centre backs in Nat Phillips and George Campbell as well as striker Aune Heggebo who joined for around £4.7 million. Heggem made 45 appearances in all competitions in 2024-25, scoring once and providing two assists. West Brom endured a high amount of managerial turnover last season. Carlos Corberan left his role as head coach to join Valencia in December, with former West Brom player Chris Brunt stepping in as interim manager. Tony Mowbray was appointed the following month, returning to West Brom 16 years after he initially left the side to join Celtic, though he was sacked in April after falling out of the promotion race following a poor run of results. Another former player, James Morrison, took over on an interim basis until the end of the season. Ryan Mason was appointed as West Brom head coach in early June after spending the last seven years on the coaching staff at Tottenham Hotspur. Report – Inter Milan Not Planning To Raise Offer For Atalanta Talisman After Second Bid Rejected

Inter Milan are reportedly not planning to raise their offer for forward Ademola Lookman after Atalanta rejected a second bid. This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. Inter Milan have received Atalanta's response to their second offer for forward Ademola Lookman. And it was not the one that they were hoping for. La Dea have rejected the Nerazzurri's offer of €45 million including add-ons. That is up from the €40 million bid that Inter had made a couple of weeks ago. Report – Inter Not Planning To Raise Offer For Ademola Lookman After Atalanta Rejection BERGAMO, ITALY – MAY 12: Ademola Lookman is. He was. It is. He was therefore. Moreover it is. Therefore it was of Atalanta warms up prior to the Serie A match between Atalanta and AS Roma at Gewiss Stadium on May 12, 2025 in Bergamo, Italy. (Photo by) The question now is whether having this second bid rejected has deterred Inter. Naturally, the Nerazzurri will have to consider whether they value Lookman enough to raise their offer even more. According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter have decided not to raise their offer for Lookman. Therefore, the Nerazzurri may have to changed their plans after having spent more than two weeks with the signing of Lookman as their top priority. Alternatively, Inter could wait and see whether Atalanta change their minds. Particularly considering that the player is also very much determined for the transfer to happen.
