Lando Norris' mum's adorable message in emotional moment after British GP win

Lando Norris has won the British Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Oscar Piastri and Nico Hulkenberg, and the McLaren driver shared an emotional embrace with his mum after the race
Lando Norris shared an emotional moment with his mum after winning the British Grand Prix for the first time. The 25-year-old was delighted with his first F1 victory on home soil and embraced his mum, Cisca, after exiting his car as she told him: "I love you so much, enjoy it."
Norris finished ahead of his McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri, while Nico Hulkenberg finished third and earned a podium finish for the first time in his 238th attempt. Reflecting on his victory, Norris said: "It is beautiful.

"Apart from a Championship, this is as good as it gets in terms of feelings. Incredible race, stressful as always but the support from the fans made the difference, so I have to thank them.

"The main thing is don't f*** it up, that is rule number one. It might never happen again, hope it does, but these are memories I'll have forever.
"As far as being a stressful race, it's as stressful as it gets. A round of applause for Oscar as he put in a good race, he was fast. Credit to him and of course McLaren, to win at home is pretty amazing."
Hulkenberg was also delighted with his third place finish, stating: "It's been a long time coming hasn't it?! What a race, coming from virtually last, doing it all again like last weekend.
"Crazy conditions, survival mode all race. We were really on it, no mistakes. Today, I was in denial until the last pit stop and then I heard we gapped Lewis so I thought okay, breathing space but then he was closing.
"The pressure was there, intense race but we didn't crack. I was thinking he was going to give it all in front of his home crowd but sorry guys, it is also my day!"

Piastri, meanwhile, was not happy after he was handed a 10-second time penalty for a safety car infringement. "I'm not going to say much, I'll get myself in trouble," Piastri said after the race.
"Congrats to Nico, that's the story. Apparently you can't brake behind the Safety Car anymore, I had done it for five laps before but I'm not going to say more, I'm going to get myself in trouble. I still like Silverstone even if I don't like it today."

Opinion: Hulkenberg's podium was even more epic than Lando's home win

Formula One 15 years and 239 attempts later, the Hulk smashes his way to a trophy at last Skip 10 photos in the image carousel and continue reading This ought to be a recap of how Lando Norris fulfilled a childhood dream by winning the British Grand Prix in front of his home crowd… but we've been entirely distracted by a Sauber. Because F1. For while Lando Norris was ticking a big ticket item off his bucket list, Nico Hulkenberg was busy ending F1's longest-running hoodoo, scything his way to his first ever podium finish at the 239th time of asking and more than 15 years after his debut. Advertisement - Page continues below And boy did he earn it. Starting all the way back in 19th, the 37-year-old was up to P10 by lap seven, and after stopping for new inters a few laps before a deluge of rain brought out the safety car, Sauber's strategy had vaulted him up into P5. That became P4 when Verstappen spun out on the restart, and when the DRS was enabled on lap 35 Hulkenberg used it to breeze past the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll and into P3. You might like All he needed to do now was, er, hold off a seven-time world champion chasing his first podium in Ferrari red. But somehow the German driver did exactly that, repelling Lewis Hamilton on pure pace until it was finally dry enough for slicks. That should've left the Sauber defenceless, but Hamilton went deep into Village and that gave Nico enough of a gap to bring the car home and trigger bedlam in the Not-Audi-Yet garage. Advertisement - Page continues below Everything after that was pure feels. Hulkenberg mobbed in Parc Ferme; the roar of the crowd as he took to the podium; the video of his daughter dancing in front of the TV at home. Wholesome stuff, right? And all this after his F1 career looked over when he was dropped by Renault at the end of 2019, and only found his way back into a full-time drive three years later with Haas. 'Easy,' he joked afterwards. 'I always knew it, you know? It was just a question of time. I feel happy, feel relieved. Also feel pretty empty right now, [an] emotional rollercoaster this weekend. 'Being virtually last here yesterday and a pretty bad day, to one of the best days of my career. It's obviously a lot to take in.' Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. Sports car sent flying at F1 track that Max Verstappen condemned as 'dangerous'

A BMW M2 and Porsche GT3 RS were involved in a horror smash on the Nurburgring last week, with both cars being engulfed in a fireball at a track dubbed 'too dangerous' by Max Verstappen A terrifying crash occurred on the feared Nordschleife on the Nurburgring last week, resulting in a BMW M2 and Porsche GT3 RS colliding and igniting a fireball. Miraculously, both drivers are believed to have walked away from the incident. Dubbed The Green Hell by Jackie Stewart, the Nurburgring's Nordschleife hasn't hosted a Formula 1 race for nearly half a century and was the site of Niki Lauda's infamous near-fatal crash during the 1976 German Grand Prix. ‌ While F1 has since steered clear of its tarmac, the public can drive on it during Touristenfahrten, when it's open to recreational drivers for a small fee. ‌ Disaster struck last week when two vehicles collided, slamming into a barrier at nearly 200 km/h and bursting into flames. Despite both cars being written off, it's believed that the occupants survived. The collision occurred as the RS appeared to be attempting a fast lap with the slower M2 ahead. As the Porsche tried to overtake on the inside, they reached a corner, and although the BMW seemed aware of the other car, it appears the GT3 RS was clipped, causing both to spin into a barrier. CCTV footage circulating online shows the Porsche hitting the barrier first, followed by the BMW. The cars were then engulfed in flames, with the aftermath images equally shocking. Traffic rules do apply on the Nurburgring outside of official sporting events. ‌ Both vehicles were completely totalled in the smash and can be seen by the roadside in a sorry state. The Porsche driver and Po Daily YouTube channel host Waldemar Peitrzak have since headed to social media, releasing a statement on Monday, reports the Express. "I just want to inform you that I am fine," he shared in a post on Instagram. "I will be leaving the hospital soon. I only have a few bruises and scratches, no fractures, no internal injuries, and the muscle pain is almost gone. ‌ "The accident looked tragic. There were three impacts. First, hitting the barrier at 190 km/h, which generated nearly 50 g of force. Then, falling to the ground, and finally, a BMW hit me again after I had fallen. I remember everything, I got out of the car myself, felt dizzy, and lay down on the ground. "I love Nurburgring. I've done over 100 laps there. I have to stop racing on the track because of my family. I have a wife who was without contact for three hours, and a two-and-a-half-year-old son. Thank you to everyone who helped me at that time." Four-time F1 champion Verstappen has recently voiced his concerns about the Nordschleife, acknowledging that it's a part of the Nurburgring circuit that won't ever see a comeback. "That's really not going to happen with the Formula 1 cars we have now, I'm afraid," he replied, in response to a question about F1's potential comeback to the legendary circuit. "With GT3 speed it is okay and still doable. I have seen old footage now and then, also of Formula 1 on the Nordschleife. One thing is for sure: F1 there, that will never happen again. Far too dangerous."

Could striker Callum Wilson join Wrexham this summer?

The former England international's contract expired last week and he departs St James' Park after failing to agree a new deal. Wilson scored 49 goals in 130 appearances for the Magpies but the 33-year-old will be playing for another club next season. Wrexham, who will line-up in the Championship after securing an historic third successive promotion, are one of the clubs linked with the striker who also has interest from Premier League sides. "To all you Magpies, it's time to say goodbye after an unbelievable few years at the Toon," Wilson, who joined Newcastle from Bournemouth for about £20m in 2020, said in a statement. "Thank you for everything. We stood strong together through the highs and some lows to help the club experience new heights. "I am so proud to have worn the iconic number 9 shirt and to have added a little more history to it. "Scoring at the Gallowgate end really is as special as they say. "All good things come to an end, but there's no doubt Newcastle United will always have a place in mine and my families hearts."
