Wrexham youngsters in frame for action on Australia tour
Matches will take place in Australia against Melbourne Victory on July 11 and Sydney FC on July 15, and Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand on July 19.
Experienced pros such as James McClean and Ollie Rathbone will feature in the hat-trick of games against A-League opposition as history-making Wrexham, on the back of three successive promotions, continue their build-up to the new Championship campaign which kicks-off away to Southampton on Saturday August 9.
Three young players - Max Purvis, Alex Moore and Callum Edwards - are yet to make their senior bow but have also been included in the travelling party and Parkinson hopes they follow the lead of Harry Ashfield who made his first-team break-through last term after getting his chance on the pre-season tour to north America 12 months ago.
"We've taken 30 players on this pre-season tour," said the Reds' boss.
"A few of the youngsters are coming on the trip which is fantastic for us.
"Harry Ashfield came on the American trip last year and emerged on that trip and now there's three or four players coming on this trip with us.
"It's going to be great to integrate those youngsters into the group."
The full squad is as follows: Arthur Okonkwo; Callum Burton; Danny Ward; Max Cleworth; Aaron James; Dan Scarr; Eoghan O'Connell; Max Purvis; Lewis Brunt; Tom O'Connor; Ryan Longman; Ryan Barnett; Matty James; George Evans; George Dobson; Andy Cannon; Alex Moore; Ollie Rathbone; Elliot Lee; Harry Ashfield; James McClean, Jacob Mendy; Seb Revan; Ryan Hardie; Sam Smith; Callum Edwards; Mo Faal; Ollie Palmer; Jack Marriott; Jay Rodriguez.

Marlins stomp Reds to win 11th straight on the road
July 9 - Xavier Edwards had two hits and three RBIs for the visiting Miami Marlins in their 12-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the second game of their four-game series on Tuesday night. Jesus Sanchez, Agustin Ramirez and Heriberto Hernandez also had two hits each, Kyle Stowers and Dane Myers both had two RBIs and Ramirez, Connor Norby and Liam Hicks each scored twice for the Marlins, who have won 11 straight road games Miami starter Eury Perez (2-2) allowed one run and two hits over five innings, striking out eight without a walk. The 6-foot-8 right-hander has surrendered just four runs and five hits over his past three starts covering 15 1/3 innings (2.35 ERA). Reds starter Nick Martinez (6-9) was looking to win his third straight outing, but was tagged for a career-high 10 runs and seven hits in 5-plus innings. He struck out two and walked three. Cincinnati has lost four in a row to match its longest losing streak of the season. Reds second baseman Matt McLain lined the first pitch he saw from Perez over the fence in the left to give the Reds a 1-0 lead. Martinez retired the first six batters before the first seven reached base in the Marlins' seven-run third inning. Hicks walked to start the inning and beat the throw to second from shortstop Elly De La Cruz after he backhanded a grounder in the hole by Hernandez. Myers then lined a single up the middle to score Hicks and tie it 1-1. Edwards doubled off the base of the wall in right to score two more runs and give the Marlins a 3-1 lead. Sanchez followed with a broken-bat single off the glove of De La Cruz, two more singles by Otto Lopez and Ramirez plated another run, and Stowers and Norby followed with sacrifice flies to make it 7-1. The Marlins loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth off Martinez, ending his afternoon. The bullpen couldn't bail him out, as Scott Barlow walked the first batter he faced to force in a run, another scored on a double-play groundout and Edwards made it 10-1 with a single to left. Miami loaded the bases again in the eighth with no outs and the Reds brought in catcher Jose Trevino, who limited Myers to a sacrifice fly that made it 11-1. After the Marlins added another run off Trevino in the ninth, the Reds scored an unearned run in the bottom of the inning. --Field Level Media

Aryna Sabalenka was ready to book tickets home before quarter-final comeback
The runaway world number one and three-time grand slam champion had not dropped a set on her way to the quarter-finals. But then she came up against 37-year-old Laura Siegemund, the world number 104 from Germany who had never previously been beyond the second round. And Siegemund almost produced one of the all-time Centre Court upsets after taking the first set and then twice leading by a break in the decider. Sabalenka was a set behind a a break down in the third (Ben Whitley/PA) 'She pushed me so much,' said Sabalenka. 'After the first set I was looking at my box and thinking, 'book the tickets, we are about to leave this beautiful place'.' When Siegemund, a former US Open doubles champion who has rarely caused a ripple in singles, broke for 4-3 in the decider she was two games from reaching the semi-finals. But Sabalenka broke straight back and then let out an almighty roar after sealing a 4-6 6-2 6-4 victory with a smash. Siegemund is a master of the darker arts of tennis and regularly kept Sabalenka waiting to serve. The world number one hit back to reach the semi-finals (Ben Whitley/PA) But the 27-year-old from Belarus kept her cool – even if she had a face like thunder while standing idly at the baseline. 'I think I was really well-prepared for her game, for the way she's taking time and everything,' she added. 'But of course, inside I was struggling because she was playing a really smart game. At the beginning I was missing a lot. I felt like I was rushing. 'So I'm really glad that after the first set, I was able to kind of like reset a little bit and change my tactic a little bit and get the win. Siegemund had never previously been past round two (Ben Whitley/PA) 'But about her game, I wasn't really annoyed. What can I do? It was great play, smart play.' Sabalenka said she was determined not to repeat the mistake she made during her acrimonious French Open final defeat by Coco Gauff last month. 'Honestly, I think there's a big possibility that I would have lost this match if I didn't learn that lesson at the French Open,' she said. 'In some moments I was just keep reminding myself – which it's probably a little bit crazy – 'come on, it's the quarter-final of Wimbledon, you cannot give up, you cannot let the emotions just take over you and lose another match.' Sabalenka's 10th semi-final from the last 11 grand slams will be against American 13th seed Amanda Anisimova, who beat Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1 7-6 (9). Anisimova was joined on court afterwards by her nephew Jaxon, who will celebrate his fourth birthday on Thursday, the day of the match. 'My nephew has never seen a match of mine in my life, so it was super special,' she said. 'Especially for the first time to be here at Wimbledon, and to get the win also on top of that is just an incredible experience. 'I feel like everything has been kind of clicking for me, and I've been feeling more and more confident with each tournament I've played this year. 'So I feel like my confidence is pretty high. On top of that, I'm just enjoying every moment.'

Scotland hero John McGinn subject of major interest from rival English Premier League club
ASTON VILLA have told Everton that John McGinn is NOT for sale. Toffees boss David Moyes is keen to team up with his fellow Scotsman next season. 3 John McGinn, Scotland Credit: Willie Vass 3 Everton boss David Moyes Credit: AFP 3 McGinn remains a key part of Unai Emery's plans at Villa Credit: Reuters But it is understood that Villa have rejected an approach for skipper McGinn. The Scotland star, 30, is integral to Unai Emery's plans for the new campaign. McGinn has two years left on his deal but Villa have no plans to cash in on their longest-serving player. Everton gaffer Moyes lost Abdoulaye Doucoure at the end of the season and is hunting for a replacement. But Emery still views McGinn as an influential figure as he closes in on 300 club appearances. He moved to the Midlands from Hibs in 2018 for around £3.5million and has helped Villa go from the Championship to Champions League. The Scotland talisman previously revealed that the Villa boss is hard on him — but Emery insists it's just to ensure his standards remain high. Speaking in December, he said: 'John is a very good man and a very good player. 'But we are always speaking about how football moves so quickly and the level we want to keep is high. 'John is following our message but knows he started this season in worse form than last year. He is just a very important player for us.'
