Nitish Kumar's mega pre-poll push: Pension raised to ₹1,100 monthly

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced a major hike in the monthly pension for the elderly, disabled persons, and widowed women—from ₹400 to ₹1,100. The revised amount will be disbursed starting July and is set to benefit over 10.9 million people across the state under the Social Security Pension Scheme.
'I am happy to inform you that under the Social Security Pension Scheme, all the elderly, disabled and widowed women will now get a pension of ₹1,100 instead of ₹400 every month,' said Chief Minister Kumar.
'All the beneficiaries will get pension at the increased rate from the month of July. It will be ensured that this amount is sent to the account of all the beneficiaries on the 10th of the month. This will help 1 crore 9 lakh 69 thousand 255 beneficiaries a lot,' he added.
Stressing the government's commitment to welfare and social equity, Kumar stated, 'The elderly are a precious part of society and ensuring their dignified living is our top priority. The state government will continue to make efforts in this direction.'
The hike marks a nearly threefold increase and comes at a critical political juncture as Bihar heads to Assembly elections later this year. With the Janata Dal (United) and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) aiming to fortify their electoral base, the announcement is being seen as a targeted measure to reach out to vulnerable segments of the population.
In another administrative push towards decentralised governance, the Bihar government has also expanded financial powers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Now, village heads (mukhiyas) have been authorised to sanction development schemes worth up to ₹10 lakh, doubling the previous cap of ₹5 lakh.

This 'F' word is pushing India backword, can't defeat China due to..., why is 6400000000000 scaring India

This 'F' word is pushing India backword, can't defeat China due to…, why is 6400000000000 scaring India Indian states are going to increase their spending on social welfare schemes. It is estimated that these states will spend about 2 percent of their Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), or Rs 6.4 lakh crore in 2025, much more than the previous year's spending. Several states have introduced schemes such as monthly income for women and free travel in government-run buses. These welfare schemes have increased the expenses of the states. This has raised concerns as this level of spending is expected to impact India in many ways. Will India Be Able to Beat China Economically? Notably, to beat China economically, India will have to take visionary steps beyond just spending on social welfare. According to a report by rating agency Crisil, spending huge amounts on welfare schemes has reduced states' ability to spend on infrastructure development and other development works. Crisil analysed the budget of 18 major states which account for nearly 90precent of the total GSDP. The central government, on the other hand, also spends huge amount on several welfare schemes such as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Kisan, PM Awas Yojana and PM Poshan. The central government has allocated Rs 86,000 crore for MNREGA that too only for this year. What Kind Of Warning Is This? Crisil has warned that increased state spending on welfare programs, particularly those targeting women, children, and marginalised groups, will widen their revenue deficits. This surge in spending, consistent with previous years at 1.4 to1.6 percent of GSDP between FY19 and FY24 will likely curtail states capacity for capital investment. The rise in expenditure is attributed to pre-election initiatives, including income support schemes and free public transportation for women. What Is Needed To Defeat China? To overtake China economically, India has to take concrete and far-sighted steps rather just spending on social welfare schemes. Focus on productive investments India should focus on creation of world-class infrastructure like roads, railways, ports, power, digital connectivity. These developments will reduce logistics costs and boosts industries. Investments in education, healthcare, and skills development is also needed to create a skilled and healthy workforce. India has to work on increasing public and private investment in research and development. This will promote innovation. Notably, China has invested big in this. Development of the manufacturing sector China's robust manufacturing sector significantly contributes to its economic growth. India's economic progress requires bolstering initiatives like 'Make in India' by streamlining manufacturing establishment, offering tax benefits, and enhancing global supply chain integration. Emphasis on exports China has an export-oriented economy. India also needs to expand its export base in high value-added goods and services. Policy stability A stable policy environment is essential to attract investors. Improving the ease of doing business will automatically reduce red tape. Financial discipline Both the states and the Centre must keep the fiscal deficit under control. This will reduce debt and increase revenue.

Country's first honey beekeeping centre to be upgraded as museum

Kottayam: The country's first honey beekeeping centre in Thazhakkara panchayat in Mavelikkara, Alappuzha, will be upgraded to a museum soon. Local MLA M S Arun Kumar will submit a detailed project report before the state govt next week. The centre was inaugurated in 2018. Around 50,000kg of honey was procured from bee farmers and marketed under the name 'Amruth Honey'. This is also the first centre in the state where honey is made and sold after refining. The centre is on a three-acre plot and functions under the State Horticulture Products Corporation (Horticorp). Apart from rearing bees for honey, honey is also procured from bee farmers and treated scientifically before selling. Bee farmers are also given training. The centre has around 200 beehives and around two tonnes of honey is made yearly from these hives. The honey brought by the farmers is procured directly at rates fixed by the govt. Speaking to TOI, Kumar said the centre being turned into a museum will attract tourists as well. "Already, the centre is visited by bee lovers from across the country for studies and research about bees and different types of honey. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo We are also planning to build a hostel for such people," he said. People desperate to oust Nitish Kumar govt: Prashant

Patna, June 28 (UNI) Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor today said people of Bihar are desperate to oust Nitish Kumar government from power in next state assembly elections slated for October-November this year. Addressing a rally during his "Badlao Yatra" in Nalanda, the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said that people were fed up with the present dispensation in the state due to rising unemployment, poor law and order. In the name of giving jobs to youths, Kumar was distributing appointment letters among them when election was round the corner, he claimed and said that by his action in last few months of his tenure, Chief Minister Kumar was trying to create an impression of " all is well ". "In last 35 years, Bihar remained at bottom of all development parameters due to failures of Lalu and Nitish regime in the state," Jan Suraaj leader recalled and said that it was time for people to exercise their franchise to oust Nitish Kumar government from power in next state assembly elections due to be held in October-November this year. Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public appeal during his frequent visits to Bihar in election year, people should not vote for Chief Minister Kumar, he suggested. Kishor said that huge support from people of Bihar in Lok Sabha elections since 2014, enabled Modi to become PM in last 11 years. Despite getting such a vital support from Bihar, Modi was setting up industries in Gujarat, he alleged. The Jan Suraaj leader said that youths of Bihar had no option but to migrate to other states in search of their livelihood and they were doing petty jobs there, even as labourers. Had people of Bihar extended their support to Modi for creating a situation for their children to work as labourers in other states, he asked. Kishor also came down heavily on RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav for distributing pens among youths. There was jungle raj during RJD regime and criminals were striking at their will during that period, he recalled and added that RJD was trying to refurbish its image but the party would not succeed.
