Chandrababu Naidu failed as CM, anti-incumbency set in: Jagan Mohan Reddy
Speaking to the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Thursday, Jagan said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scared due to his failure in governance, and that his impatience is being manifested in diversion politics, and foisting false cases against political opponents.
'The modus operandi is to catch a small person like a gunman or a PA, use coercion methods to seek confession, and file cases against popular YSRCP leaders who support me, unmindful of the fact that people can see through his game,' Jagan deplored.
He pointed out that the 'Betrayal Day' observed on June 4 received an overwhelming response from the public, showing that anti-incumbency has set in very fast, as none of the NDA Super Six promises have been implemented.
Jagan questioned the repressive methods being adopted by the NDA government, citing his visit to Sattenapalli on Wednesday under curfew-like conditions. 'What is wrong if the Opposition leader visits to console a family, and people are coming in large numbers as they are vexed with the government, and are looking towards the YSRCP?' he asked.
YSRCP leaders and those close to him are being jailed based on fabricated cases built on false confessions, he said.
'Atrocities on women and young girls are growing, and no complaint is being received, nor is any investigation taken up. Only after the Kuppam incident was trolled on social media, Naidu reacted. Farmers are in distress, and not getting MSP for any crop,' he rued.
Sharmila's phone tapping charge refuted
Jagan refuted the charges of APCC chief YS Sharmila that her phone, along with those of her husband and close associates, were tapped during the previous BRS regime in Telangana, and the YSRCP rule in AP. He said the BRS regime might have tapped her phone as she was playing a crucial role in Telangana through her political party at that time, and reiterated that the YSRCP has no role in the rumours going viral on social media.

Bdesh: BNPs student wing, NCP hold rallies ahead of July Uprising anniversary
Last Updated: Dhaka, Aug 3 (PTI) Activists of the National Citizen Party and the BNP's student wing held separate rallies in Bangladesh on Sunday ahead of the first anniversary of the July Uprising that toppled the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5 last year. The newly-floated National Citizen Party (NCP) unveiled the party's 24-point manifesto during its rally in Dhaka's Central Shaheed Minar. The NCP is a major offshoot of Students Against Discrimination (SAD), which led last year's violent campaign to oust Hasina's Awami League regime. The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of former prime minister Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), called first-time voters to cast their inaugural ballots in favour of the party during its rally in Dhaka's Shahbagh area. Both groups said their rallies marked the first anniversary of the so-called 'July Uprising," which led to the ouster of the government led by 77-year-old Hasina on August 5, 2024, forcing her to flee to India. They, however, agreed to shift the site and time of their respective, near-simultaneous rallies to prevent overlapping or possible clashes. Law enforcement agencies also enforced a strict vigil and deployed additional forces. NCP Convener Nahid Islam unveiled the party's 24-point manifesto, which calls for 'New Bangladesh", the formation of a 'Second Republic" and the adoption of a new Constitution. The manifesto includes pledges to disband the elite anti-crime Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), draft a new constitution through a constituent assembly and recognise the July Uprising. 'In the new start of our country, our very first commitment is to frame a new constitution through (a) constituent assembly . . . The fascist government (Awami League regime) has fallen, but yet we could not abolish the fascist system," Islam said. The manifesto vowed to ensure exemplary punishment for every extrajudicial killing and enforced disappearance during the previous regime. The BNP rejected the NCP's demand to declare a 'Second Republic" and scrap the 1972 Constitution of post-independence Bangladesh, as legal experts strongly opposed the idea, warning it could undermine the country's legal foundation. BNP's acting Chairman and Zia's son Tarique Rahman virtually joined the rally from London and called on Bangladesh's students and first-time voters to cast their inaugural ballots in favour of the party's electoral symbol — a sheaf of paddy. 'The people of Bangladesh, 54 years after independence, no longer want politics rooted in vengeance. We must build the Bangladesh that everyone desires," he said, addressing the rally, attended by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Protest, Political Blame Game Over Quota For Backward Classes In Telangana
Hyderabad: The political landscape in Telangana is currently dominated by a high-stakes standoff over the implementation of a 42 percent reservation for Backwards Classes (BC), leading to a series of protests and political blame games among the state's major parties. The issue has gained urgency due to the upcoming local body elections and a Telangana High Court directive to finalise reservations by the end of September. The Congress government, which passed two Bills in the state assembly to increase the BC quota in local bodies, education, and employment, is now pointing fingers at the Centre for the delay. The Bills, which propose a 42 percent quota for BCs, along with existing reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, were sent to the Governor in March and subsequently forwarded to the President of India for approval. In response to the perceived delay, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has announced a "Chalo Delhi" protest. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, along with his ministers, MPs, and other party leaders, is scheduled to camp in Delhi from August 5-7. The protest includes a demonstration at Jantar Mantar and a planned meeting with President Droupadi Murmu to urge her to approve the pending bills. However, the opposition is not letting the Congress off the hook. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have accused the Congress government of political manoeuvering and a lack of sincerity. BRS MLC K Kavitha has announced a 72-hour hunger strike from August 4-6, demanding the early implementation of the 42 percent BC quota, under the aegis of Telangana Jagruti. She criticised both the Congress and the BJP for delaying the bill and questioned the state government's commitment, stating that it has not taken concrete steps to pressure the Centre. Kavitha also pointed out that the government has not pursued legal action, citing the example of Tamil Nadu, which successfully fought for higher reservation through legal means. The BRS is holding its own party-led demonstrations. BRS working president KT Rama Rao and other party leaders have held meetings with the party's BC leaders and have accused the Congress government of a "new drama" to mislead the BC communities. They argue that the Congress has been insincere in its efforts and that the state government is trying to evade responsibility by blaming the Centre. The BJP, on the other hand, is vehemently opposing the Congress's proposal, particularly the inclusion of a 10 percent Muslim quota within the 42 percent BC reservation. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, addressing a protest organised by the BJP OBC Morcha, alleged that the Congress's plan would only leave BCs with a 32 percent quota and that it is an act of appeasement politics for electoral gain. He demanded that the Congress government scrap the religion-based reservation for Muslims and provide a full 42 percent quota exclusively for BCs. The BJP has also accused the Congress of trying to "defame the BJP and the Centre" by staging protests in Delhi to cover up its own failures.
