Preparations for Kumbh mela 2027 underway in Haridwar: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami
CM Dhami also highlighted that the Char Dham Yatra, which is currently underway, is progressing smoothly.
"Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, our Char Dham Yatra is going on very well, and our tourism is developing. We have started the winter yatra, and other religious sites have been developed... The Kumbh Mela is scheduled to be held in Haridwar in 2027, and preparations for it are underway," CM Dhami told ANI.
Highlighting the recognition received for development efforts, the Chief Minister said Uttarakhand has secured the first position in NITI Aayog's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) index among small states. "By integrating ecology, economy, and technology, we are progressing with balanced development," he said.
Further, CM Dhami mentioned the positive feedback received from delegates during the G20 Summit meeting hosted in Ramnagar here. "The G20 Summit meeting was held here, and the delegates from around the world left with a positive experience."
CM Dhami listed several key infrastructure developments, including rapid progress on the Char Dham all-weather road and renovation of Badrinath and Kedarnath dhams. "Pantnagar airport is also being expanded and is on the way to becoming an international airport," he said.
He also highlighted that state government provided significant number of jobs to the youth.
"...In these years, we have paid special attention to employment. So far, about 24000 appointments have been made, and we have brought a strict law against cheating. UCC was our election resolution. We implemented UCC in the state. Under the leadership of the respected Prime Minister, we presented our resolution in front of the people of Uttarakhand. Our resolution was fulfilled, and we completed the work," CM Dhami said.

Air India pilot collapses moments before flying Delhi-bound plane in Bengaluru, airline says ‘in hospital but stable'
An Air India Delhi-bound flight was delayed in the early hours of July 4 after the pilot collapsed shortly before take-off and was rushed to the hospital in Bengaluru, an Air India spokesperson said. Flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi was delayed and operated by another member of the airlines cockpit crew, the spokesperson said. The pilot is stable but is still under observation in the hospital, the spokesperson added. 'There was a medical emergency involving one of our pilots in the early hours of 04 July. As a result, the pilot was unable to operate the flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi, that he was rostered for, and was taken to a local hospital immediately,' the spokesperson said. A PTI report quoting sources said that the pilot was in the cockpit and was about to sign the mandatory documents – tech log – to accept the aircraft for flying when he collapsed there. 'He is currently stable but continues to be under the supervision of doctors at the same hospital. Consequently, AI2414 was delayed and operated by another member of our cockpit crew. Our immediate priority is to assist the pilot and his family to ensure his speedy recovery,' the statement added. Air India cancelled its New Delhi to Washington DC flight on Wednesday after a technical issue during a routine stopover in Vienna led to extended maintenance work, an airline spokesperson said. According to an ANI report, the onward Vienna-Washington segment was cancelled, and all passengers were disembarked in Vienna. The disruption also led to the cancellation of the return flight AI104 from Washington, DC to Delhi via Vienna. Air India stated that affected passengers have been rebooked on alternate services or offered full refunds, depending on their preferences. "Flight AI103 from Delhi to Washington, DC on 2 July 2025 made a planned fuel stop in Vienna. During routine aircraft checks, an extended maintenance task was identified, which required rectification before the next flight and, thus, additional time for completion," an airline spokesperson said in a statement. "Due to this, the Vienna to Washington, DC leg was cancelled, and passengers were disembarked. Passengers eligible for visa-free entry or those with valid Schengen visas were provided with hotel accommodations in Vienna until the next available flight. For those without entry permission, accommodations are being arranged, pending immigration and security clearances by Austrian authorities. Consequently, flight AI104 from Washington, DC, to Delhi via Vienna was also cancelled, and the affected passengers have been rebooked on alternative flights to Delhi or offered full refunds based on their preferences," the airline added. He also received the 'Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago', the first foreign leader to be honoured with the prestigious award. During his address, PM Modi spoke about democracy, India's growth, bilateral ties, the importance of women's empowerment, and the deep ties with the Indian diaspora. PM Modi emphasised that democracy for Indians is a way of life rooted in a rich heritage. He noted the ancestral ties of many parliamentarians to Bihar, known for its ancient republics. 'For us, Indians, democracy is not just a political model but a way of life. We have a rich heritage spanning thousands of years. Many of the parliamentarians here have their ancestors from Bihar, which was a home to Mahajanpads - ancient republics,' PM Modi noted. China used India-Pak conflict as 'live lab' to test weapons: Lt Gen Singh
Pakistan was in the front, and China was providing all possible support during military conflict in May, said Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh on Friday. Speaking at an event titled 'New Age Military Technologies' hosted by Ficci, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Capability Development & Sustenance), Lieutenant General Singh, spoke about the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan. He explained how the situation was more complex than it seemed on the surface. 'Air defence and how it panned out during the entire operation was important... This time, our population centres were not quite addressed, but next time, we need to be prepared for that... We had one border and two adversaries, actually three. Pakistan was in the front. China was providing all possible support. 81% of the military hardware with Pakistan is Chinese... China is able to test its weapons against other weapons, so it's like a live lab available to them. Turkey also played an important role in providing the type of support it did... When DGMO-level talks were on, Pakistan had the live updates of our important vectors, from China... We need a robust air defence system,' said Lt Gen Singh, according to an ANI tweet. China's 'borrowed knife' strategy Lt Gen Singh said that China was using Pakistan as a tool to inflict harm on India during the four-day conflict in May. He added that Beijing's support to Islamabad was in line with an old Chinese military principle. He referred to the '36 stratagems' from ancient Chinese warfare theory, which includes the idea of 'killing with a borrowed knife' — essentially using someone else to carry out hostile acts. 'He (China) would rather use the neighbour to cause pain (to India) than getting involved in a mudslinging match on the northern border,' Lt Gen Singh said. He pointed out that China's involvement was not unexpected given that the majority of Pakistan's defence equipment comes from China. 'Pakistan was the front face. We had China providing all possible support. And there was no surprise because, if you look at the statistics in the last five years, 81 per cent of the military hardware that Pakistan is getting is all Chinese,' he said. Turkiye's involvement The Deputy Chief also spoke about the role of Turkiye in supporting Pakistan's military efforts during the conflict. 'We saw numerous drones coming and landing in the face of war, during the war, along with the individuals who were there,' he said. Lt Gen Singh also highlighted that India's leadership sent a strong and clear strategic message during the confrontation. The military's decisions, especially target selection in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), were made using detailed data analysis. Operation Sindoor India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. The mission targeted terror bases across the border. The action led to four days of heavy cross-border hostilities, ending on May 10 after both sides reached an understanding to halt military actions. Significantly, Pakistan sought an end to the clashes following India's forceful counter-strike.
