‘Extremely high risk' – World Cup faces major schedule revamp amid growing concern for player safety
Soaring temperatures in several North American cities have led to adverse weather conditions and delays at the Club World Cup.

There is now growing concern for player safety with water breaks deemed insufficient by some experts.
FifPro, a global players union that represents more than 70,000 pros, has called for changes to be made at the World Cup.
They want midday and afternoon matches scrapped in 'extremely high risk' cities such as Miami, Monterrey and Kansas City.
Boston, Philadelphia and Guadalajara have been deemed "very high risk" while Los Angeles and New York/New Jersey are "high risk".
FifPro director of policy Alexander Bielefeld said the issues at the Club World Cup has to be a "wake up call" for Fifa, and calls have been made to move matches to a later kick-off time.
FifPro's medical director Dr Vincent Gouttebarge outlined the potential health risks involved in playing in extreme heat.
He said: 'From our research, a couple of cities and some matches on the ongoing Club World Cup can be labelled as having a higher risk for heat-related illness, or, in the worst case, extreme high risk for heat-related illness.
'There are certain areas in a country that will be more at risk. So think about match destinations such as Orlando or Miami, for example, where you can see over a period of years that there's a higher risk attached to these venues and destinations.
'The question is, if we look at match scheduling and match planning ahead of the tournament, if we actually need midday kick-off times in these locations or in these high-risk areas — if we should probably move towards late kick-off times as a preferences for these venues.'
One expert, Professor Mike Tipton of Portsmouth University, a leading specialist on the effect of extreme temperature on the human body, has called for next year's World Cup final to be played at 9am.

Nakakusu suffered further punishment with a yellow card, and Wales took advantage of their extra man after Japan had found touch from the kick-off. Faletau broke away from a scrum going backwards and Hardy, Costelow and Johnny Williams moved the ball on for Rogers to scamper into the corner. The tide turned in the second half as Amato Fakatava saw his effort ruled out for a Shinobu Fujiwara knock-on, but Japan were not to be denied after going through the phases. Rogers slipped off a tackle and Nakakusu dived over with Lee adding the extras and soon reducing the deficit to two points with a penalty. Japan got their noses in front for the first time as replacement Vailea barged over and Lee's sparked celebrations that continued until the final whistle. The two-match series will conclude in Kobe next Saturday.

His goals helped drag Everton away from a relegation battle and into 13th position. However, having cost the Toffees £20m, it's likely the gangly forward will cost at least £30m. It's understood that Leeds have as much as £100m to spend in the transfer window, but could surpass that sum. They have already signed free agent Lukas Nmecha from Wolfsburg and Udinese defender Jaka Bijol. Potential £25m arrival from Serie A On the subject of centre-forwards, Nikola Krstovic of Serie A side Lecce remains an interest for Leeds. The Montenegro striker enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, contributing 11 goals and five assists in 37 Serie A appearances. His goals proved to be the difference between relegation and survival, as Lecce finished three points ahead of 18th placed Empoli. Such margins could also be vital for Leeds and the prospect of signing a striker who outscored the likes of Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic and ex-Chelsea ace Christian Pulisic could be too much to resist. It's also understood that he is valued at around £25.6m. They may also have the green light to make their move, as Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport claimed Lecce are in talks to sign Basel ace Kevin Carlos, who would essentially be a direct replacement if bought. A new defensive partnership Having already signed Bijol, Leeds are also considering a move for Real Betis defender Natan, according to Estadio Deportivo. Interestingly, the Brazilian was only on loan from Napoli last season, but became a permanent signing this summer. However, the outlet claims Leeds, Lazio and two other undisclosed clubs have expressed an interest in signing him. They also state the La Liga side have rejected an offer of €27m (£23.3m) for his services, but it is unclear who bid that amount. If he arrives, he would likely partner new arrival Bijol and complete a brand new defensive partnership. This could be risky, but it may also stop the goals from going into the Leeds net.
