Dubai's Salik expands paid parking to two Abu Dhabi malls from July 18
More malls, tourist enclaves, and business hubs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are now offering seamless, ticketless, and barrier-less parking courtesy of Parkonic and Salik PJSC as the payment option. Private company Parkonic confirmed to Khaleej Times on Wednesday that Al Wahda Mall and Dalma Mall will offer paid parking starting July 18. The ANPR (automatic number-plate recognition) cameras that will be used to capture the vehicle licence plate have been installed, and both malls located in Abu Dhabi have been added to the list of malls whose parking operations are managed by Parkonic. Parking charges, however, will only be activated not earlier than Friday, July 18. According to Parkonic, parking at Dalma Mall is free for the first three hours from Monday to Friday and the whole day during weekends and public holidays. The charge after the first three free hours will be Dh10 per hour. Parking will be cashless and ticketless with Salik as the payment option. This means parking charges will be automatically deducted from the vehicle owner's Salik account upon exit. No details were shared about Al Wahda Mall – Parkonic said parking charges are still being finalised. Payment will not be via Salik, but there are options to pay using the Parkonic app, website, or at the mall payment kiosks. Meanwhile, in Dubai, parking at Golden Mile Galleria, shopping mall in Palm Jumeirah; The Town Mall in Jebel Ali and Dubai Investment Park; Dubai Sports City (surface and multi-storey parking); The Palm Monorail are now operated by Parkonic. Parking at these establishments and areas is cashless and ticketless with Salik as the payment option. Back in November last year, Parkonic and Dubai's toll gate operator Salik PJSC entered into a partnership where Parkonic will promote Salik as the preferred payment channel for its customers. This means parking charges are automatically deducted from the car owner's Salik account. There are no parking barriers in most areas allowing motorist to just drive in, park, and drive out. The system uses ANPR (automatic number-plate recognition) cameras to capture the vehicle licence plate and determine the corresponding parking fees to be paid.
