Gurdas Maan's brother Gurpanth dies at 68 in Mohali, last rites to be held today
Punjabi singer-turned-actor Gurdas Maan's younger brother, Gurpanth Maan, died at the age of 68, as per reports. Gurpanth had been undergoing treatment at a multi-specialty hospital in Mohali for nearly two months and died on Monday. His last rites will be held today (June 10) in Chandigarh. He is survived by his wife and two children, who live Gurmeet Mann, who is Gurpanth's cousin, revealed that his brother's health was improving, and he was later discharged from the hospital. But, his condition suddenly worsened, said a News 18 Mann was the second of three children, between Gurdas Mann and his sister. Unlike his brother Gurdas, Gurpanth stayed away from the limelight and worked as a farmer and commission agent. He lived in Punjab's Gidderbaha. Gurdas Maan, the singer-turned-actor rose to fame with the song 'Dil Da Maamla Hai' in 1980. After this, he went on to record over 34 albums and wrote over 305 songs. He featured in several Punjabi and Hindi songs, including 'Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris', 'Des Hoya Pardes', 'Manto'. He also made a special appearance in the Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta-starrer 'Veer Zaara'.Gurdas also won the National Award in the Best Male Playback singer category at the 54th National Film Awards for his performance in 'Waris Shah: Ishq Da Waris.' He was also a judge on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Punjabi in 2020.
