Sarawak's Cloud Telecom eSIMM ROAM to revolutionise global connectivity
KUCHING (May 31): Sarawak-based Cloud Telecom has launched its pioneering mobile application, eSIMM ROAM, at the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (Statos), introducing a transformative solution to the long-standing challenges of international mobile roaming.
The app, powered by advanced eSIM (embedded SIM) technology, aims to redefine how users stay connected worldwide.
'With the app, there will be no more sky-high bills, no more physical SIM cards, and no more connectivity headaches for globetrotters and completely transform how users stay connected while traveling the world,' said Statos in a statement.
Sarawak's first global app-based eSIM provider delivers instant mobile connectivity in over 140 countries, including destinations across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, with plans to reach 180 countries soon.
Cloud Telecom anticipates that eSIM technology will eventually replace traditional roaming due to its speed, reliability, transparency, and user-friendliness.
The technology enables users to activate international data plans with just a few taps, eliminating the need for local SIM cards or dealing with unexpected charges.
'This market trend is a complete shift of paradigm, not only inevitable but irreversible,' it said, adding that the app was designed to meet the rising global demand for seamless and cost-effective mobile solutions.
The eSIMM ROAM is tailored for both consumer and small-to-medium enterprise (SMEs), offering a scalable, future-proof solution that supports real-time roaming resolution via 24/7 call centre assistance, data usage tracking, and instant top-ups – all within one platform.
By eliminating the need for physical SIM cards, the app also delivers unmatched flexibility.
Users can browse, purchase, install, and activate plans directly through the app, which is accessible via the App Store and Google Play, including in China.
According to Cloud Telecom vice-president Frank Hwong, over 40 million users globally transitioned from traditional roaming to eSIM last year alone.
'By the end of 2025, we estimate that one to two billion smartphones worldwide will support eSIM technology,' he said, noting a projected exponential growth in adoption.
The app is positioned as a one-stop solution for managing overseas communication, revolutionising how travellers and businesses maintain global connectivity.
Cloud Telecom is currently recruiting international partners, including SMEs, influencers, and individuals to join its 'Channel Partner Programme' and capitalise on the growing demand for eSIM technology. Cloud Telecom eSIMM ROAM lead Statos

Atlan Holdings to dispose of 100pct equity interest in United Industries for RM175mil
KUALA LUMPUR: Atlan Holdings Bhd has inked a conditional agreement to sell the entire paid-up capital of its automotive components manufacturing arm, United Industries Holdings Sdn Bhd (UIHSB), to its 75.53 per cent-owned subsidiary Duty Free International Ltd (DFIL) for RM175 million. The transaction involves the sale of 37.7 million shares, representing 100 per cent equity interest in UIHSB, Atlan said. "The proposed disposal is intended to strengthen the company's financial position by providing additional capital to support its working capital requirements and drive the expansion of its property and hospitality business as well as fund potential investments," it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today. Atlan said it plans to utilise RM60 million for redeveloping its property located in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur; RM78.50 million for potential investments that complement its existing business; and RM30 million for working capital. "The disposal will also allow the company to monetise its investment in the United Industries Group, realising its value in cash while retaining substantial control of the group," it said. The disposal to Singapore-based DFIL is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025. It is subject to the approval of Atlan's shareholders as well as the non-interested shareholders of DFIL. Meanwhile, DFIL said in a statement that the proposed acquisition of UIHSB represents a strategic initiative by the group to diversify beyond its existing core business in duty-free and duty-paid retailing in Malaysia. "While the duty-free segment continues to be a key revenue contributor, the board acknowledges the need to mitigate concentration risk and enhance the group's long-term resilience by expanding into business sectors that is able to provide stable recurring income," it added.

Figma aims at $13.7 billion valuation as tech IPOs bounce back
FILE PHOTO: People walk past the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City, U.S., July 11, 2025. Picture taken through glass. REUTERS/Jeenah Moon/File Photo (Reuters) -Figma is targeting a valuation of $13.65 billion in its U.S. initial public offering, as the cloud-based design software firm prepares for a debut that could inject fresh momentum into a tech listings market already roaring back to life. The San Francisco-based company, along with some investors, is eyeing proceeds of up to $1.03 billion through a sale of nearly 37 million shares priced between $25 and $28 each, it said on Monday. The listing could be a major milestone for Figma, coming more than a year after its $20 billion sale to Adobe was terminated due to regulatory hurdles in Europe and the UK. While investors have been eager for new share sales for months, the uncertainty sparked by President Donald Trump's tariffs kept a major recovery in check. However, an equities rally and a bunch of strong debuts recently are helping lift the overhang. Figma will start trading close on the heels of stablecoin giant Circle, which debuted with eye-popping gains last month and has continued surging since. As a major technology player that appears supportive of bitcoin, Figma has already draw attention on social media discussion. The company had around $70 million invested in Bitwise's bitcoin exchange-traded fund as of March 31 and intends to allocate a further $30 million to bitcoin, its filing showed. Figma is a cloud-based design platform that allows users to collaboratively create and edit apps, websites and software interfaces. Its customers include ServiceNow, Workday and SAP. Its revenue rose 46% in the first three months of 2025, while net income jumped three-fold. "Figma's product is its primary marketing engine. Its collaborative nature fosters viral, bottoms-up adoption, leading to a best-in-class sales efficiency," said Tomasz Tunguz, founder of venture capital firm Theory Ventures. The company has also signaled it may take "big swings" with M&A, with co-founder and CEO Dylan Field saying it is prepared to "make decisions that may not seem immediately rational." Figma expects to list on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FIG". Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Allen & Co and J.P. Morgan are among the underwriters for the offering.
