Egyptian, Brazilian FMs discuss expanding cooperation, Gaza ceasefire
The two ministers met Monday on the sidelines of the high-level international conference, themed 'The Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution,' currently in session in New York.
During the meeting, they discussed close and longstanding relations between Egypt and Brazil, emphasizing the importance of building on the existing momentum in political and economic ties.
Talks also covered the situation in the Gaza Strip, with Abdelatty highlighting Egypt's intensive efforts to secure a ceasefire, end Israel's ongoing violations against Palestinian civilians, and alleviate the severe humanitarian conditions in the enclave.
Both ministers underscored the urgent need to intensify international efforts to swiftly reach a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire, ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian and relief aid, and put an end to Israel's repeated violations.
Abdelatty also reviewed Egypt's preparations to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, in line with the Arab-Islamic initiative aimed at rebuilding the Strip and supporting its long-term recovery.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty described the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) as 'a mechanism of death' for starving Palestinians who line up every day to receive food from its four designated distribution sites. Abdelatty made his remarks during his visit to the US after participating in the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, co-organized by France and Saudi Arabia. The foreign minister also accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war, describing the famine in Gaza as "beyond imagination." The GHF began operations on 26 May after Israel had blocked all aid supplies from entering the Gaza Strip for over two months, which sparked global warnings of imminent famine. Since then, Israeli troops have repeatedly opened fire on Palestinians gathering near GHF aid sites.
