Prime Minister Narendra Modi has picked a unique way to mark 11 years of the Central government under him – seeking feedback on his governance.
On the Narendra Modi App, in what is called the 'Jan Man Survey', visitors are asked to name their state and constituency and answer a set of questions to provide feedback on governance.
Unsurprisingly, given the focus on Operation Sindoor, the first question is on India's response to counter-terrorism over the last decade. It has four options: decisively firm and proactive, strong and deterrent-focused, steady and cautious advancements, and primarily reactive in nature.
The second question, too, is also security-related, asking how secure you feel as a citizen, considering the government's actions against national security threats. The answer is to be given on a slider that can be adjusted to express confidence.
The NaMo App also asked whether India's voice is being heard and respected more internationally than before. This is a clear comparison to the UPA years.
Focusing on Vikas, or development, the survey asks which of the following developments since 2014 do you consider most significant for India? The five options are — a corruption-free government, enhancement of ease of living, improvement of ease of doing business, development in futuristic infrastructure, and all of the above.
The survey also seeks to know which of the following Digital India products or services have been used the most in the past 12 months? The 10 options are Digilocker, Umang, Arogya Setu, BHIM UPI, e-Hospital @ NIC, ABHA ID, DBT, Digi Yatra, Digital Life Certificate and Swamitva.
Similarly, the app had questions for women, asking, with the vision of women-led development, what are the most significant improvements they have witnessed? On youth, the survey seeks response on if government initiatives like Skill India, Start-up India and reforms in education have expanded opportunities for young people?
While political opponents may have mocked India's 'Make in India' initiative, the PM has posed a question on it to the citizens: How has the 'Make in India' initiative impacted the manufacturing sector? They could reply with either transformative, strong, promising or slow.
The next question asked which of the following made them proud: development and renovation of major spiritual centres, recovering stolen heritage, promoting India's heritage globally, elevating India's security personnel, and removing colonial-era symbols.
The NaMo app asked which of these have been truly transformative for governance: GST, last-mile delivery, National Education Policy, financial inclusion, future-ready infrastructure, self-reliant manufacturing, digitisation and transparency in governance, and strengthening national unity.

Before the survey ended, came the crucial question — assess the 'presence and responsiveness of your local and national representative" in addressing public concerns. This is seen as a wake-up call for many BJP representatives who are seeking re-election.
The survey also asked whether India was moving towards a Viksit Bharat in alignment with their aspirations. It ended with a final question on the extent to which one feels 'inspired and involved" in India's development journey, setting the tone for PM Modi's vision of 2047 when he envisions India becoming developed.

Coal shortages have become a thing of past, says Union minister

New Delhi: The government is promoting modern technologies to boost efficient coal extraction and fuel shortages have become a thing of the past, Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey said on Tuesday. "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, coal shortages have become a thing of the past," Dubey was quoted as saying in a statement. The minister is on a two-day official visit to the operational areas of Coal India arm South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), the statement said. He further said that the coal ministry is actively promoting modern technologies to boost safe and efficient coal extraction and commended SECL for its adoption of cutting-edge equipment. Using advanced technologies like Continuous Miner, our goal is to enhance underground coal production and achieve a target of 100 million tonnes from underground mines by 2030," he said. State-owned CIL's coal production dropped by 8.5 per cent to 57.8 million tonnes (MT) in June even as the government aims to increase the output to reduce the dependency on imports. The coal production by the PSU was 63.1 MT in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal, Coal India Ltd (CIL) said in a regulatory filing. The coal output by the PSU in the first three months of the current fiscal also dropped to 183.3 MT, over 189.3 MT produced in the April-June period of the previous financial year. The company, however, did not give a reason for the decline in coal production. PTI

‘Victims And Perpetrators Can't Be Equated': Jaishankar's Anti-Terror Message At QUAD Event

Last Updated: EAM Dr. S Jaishankar stressed zero tolerance for terrorism and defended India's right to protect its people. Quad ministers met in DC to promote a free Indo-Pacific. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Tuesday said that the world must display zero tolerance against terrorism and asserted that 'victims and perpetrators" must never be equated. Without mentioning Operation Sindoor, Jaishankar said India has every right to defend its people against terrorism, and it will exercise that right. Foreign ministers of the Quad nations– India, the US, Japan and Australia met in Washington, DC. Speaking after the meeting, EAM Jaishakar said it is essential that nations of the Indo-Pacific have the freedom of choice so essential to make the right decisions on development and security. 'We are all committed to ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific. To that end, our endeavours are devoted to promoting a rules-based international order," he added. India's EAM Dr S Jaishankar, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Takeshi Iwaya, and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong met for the Quad Foreign Ministers' meeting at the US Department of State. Why Indo-Pacific Is Important For QUAD China has emerged as a global economic powerhouse over the past two decades, rapidly expanding its trade networks, technological capabilities, and diplomatic reach. Its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), growing military presence in the South China Sea, and strategic investments across Asia, Africa, and Europe have positioned it as a serious challenger to the United States-led global order. This rise has led to increasing geopolitical tensions, particularly with the US, which views Beijing's actions as undermining international norms, engaging in coercive trade practices, and threatening security in the Indo-Pacific region. Quad, a joint initiative of India, the US, Australia and Japan, is being seen as a counter to China's influence in the region. Stressing that China poses a threat to security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific, Rubio had earlier stated that the region must be free from Beijing's coercive and unfair trade practices. He raised the issues and challenges facing the Indo-Pacific during his discussions with foreign ministers of Southeast Asian nations, as well as at the recent G7 Summit held in Canada.

New Delhi [India] July 1 (ANI): The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday approved the National Sports Policy (NSP) 2025, a landmark initiative aimed at reshaping the country's sporting landscape and empowering citizens through sports. The new policy supersedes the existing National Sports Policy of 2001 and outlines a visionary and strategic roadmap to establish India as a global sporting powerhouse and a strong contender for excellence at international sporting events, including the 2036 Olympic Games. After the Cabinet nod, the Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandviya posted on X, 'This landmark policy outlines a strategic roadmap to promote sports culture at the grassroots, enhance infrastructure, support athlete development, and establish India as a formidable force in global sports.' The policy is anchored on five key pillars. The pillar of excellence on the Global Stage aims to strengthen sports programs from the grassroots to elite levels, including mechanisms for early identification and nurturing of talent. It aims to build world-class systems for training, coaching, and holistic athlete support and enhance the capacity and governance of National Sports Federations. The NSP 2025 recognises the economic potential of sports and seeks to promote sports tourism and attract major international events to India. It aims to strengthen the sports manufacturing ecosystem and promote startups and entrepreneurship in the sector. Encourage private sector participation through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and innovative funding initiatives. The policy emphasises the role of sports in driving social inclusion by Promoting participation among women, economically weaker sections, tribal communities, and persons with disabilities through focused programs. Revitalising and promoting indigenous and traditional games. The policy positions sports as a viable career option by integrating it into education, encouraging volunteering, and facilitating dual-career pathways. The policy aims to engage the Indian diaspora through sports. To make sports a national movement, the policy aims to drive mass participation and a culture of fitness through nationwide campaigns and community-based events. Among its other objectives include launching fitness indices for schools, colleges, and workplaces and enhancing universal access to sports facilities. In alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, the NSP 2025 proposes to: Integrate sports into school curricula. Equip educators and physical education teachers with specialised training to promote sports education and awareness. To realise its objectives, the NSP 2025 lays down a comprehensive implementation strategy encompassing: Governance: Establish a robust regulatory framework for sports governance, including a legal framework. It aims to develop innovative financing mechanisms and engage private sector participation through PPPs and CSR. The policy aums to leverage emerging technologies, including AI and data analytics, for performance tracking, research, and program implementation. The NSP 2025 aims to create a national framework with well-defined benchmarks, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and time-bound targets. Model Policy for States: The NSP 2025 will serve as a model for States and Union Territories, encouraging them to revise or formulate their own policies in alignment with national objectives. The policy calls for a whole-of-government approach to integration of sports promotion into the activities, schemes, and programs of all Ministries and Departments to achieve a holistic impact.(ANI)
