Razarudin confirms term as IGP ends on June 22
PETALING JAYA : Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain has confirmed that his term will end on June 22.
According to Sinar Harian, Razarudin said he would not extend his contract out of respect for his mother's wishes.
'My mother asked me not to continue (as IGP). I've lived with her a long time and when she said that, I took it as a wish (from her).
'I wouldn't dare go against her,' he was quoted as saying at a community event in Kampung Parit Seberang, Kuala Pilah, today.
Razarudin said his decision had been communicated to home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
'There's no need to extend the contract. Two years as IGP is enough. It's time for a successor,' he said, adding that a handover ceremony had been tentatively scheduled for June 20.
Speculation had been rife after media reports quoted sources as saying a handover ceremony and final march-past would be held at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol) next Friday.
Razarudin, 61, was appointed to the position on June 23, 2023, following the retirement of Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
He had held various key positions in the past, including assistant director of D9 criminal investigation department at Bukit Aman, deputy commander of the Special Task Force on Organised Crime, Penang CID chief, and Sabah deputy police commissioner.
He later served as Perak deputy police chief before becoming the state's top cop.
From 2021 to 2023, he led Bukit Aman's narcotics crime investigation department before being promoted to deputy IGP.

ALOR STAR: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry is tightening safeguards to prevent potential abuse of MyKad in the purchase of subsidised RON95 petrol, ahead of the rollout of a targeted fuel subsidy system. This follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcement that the price of RON95 petrol will be reduced from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre under the subsidy rationalisation plan, with implementation details expected to be announced in September. Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the ministry and its relevant agencies were proactively identifying potential loopholes in the system. "For instance, foreign-registered vehicles are not allowed to buy subsidised fuel. But if a MyKad is used by these drivers, then we must be alert," she said during a press conference after an Op Kesan 4.0 enforcement inspection at a hypermarket here. Fuziah said the upcoming mechanism will rely on MyKad tracking to ensure subsidies reach only eligible Malaysians. "The fuel price reduction will take effect simultaneously with the new targeted system. Since it's for our citizens only, the use of MyKad is essential," she said. She said any unusual or excessive fuel purchase activity would be traceable through the system's records, providing an additional safeguard against misuse. She added that the ministry had also identified scenarios where a single identity card might be used repeatedly, raising red flags in the system.

KTMB denies closure orders for BNM, KL stations ahead of rally
The notice, purportedly from KTMB, states that the Bank Negara Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur stations will be closed from 9am to 5pm tomorrow. PETALING JAYA : Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) has denied issuing any orders for the closure of its Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Kuala Lumpur stations following a notice making the rounds on social media. When a netizen asked about the notice in the comment section of one of KTMB's Facebook posts, the firm said there had been no official announcement from the management. 'Updates will be shared from time to time through KTMB's official media channels,' the KTMB Facebook admin replied. The notice said that the BNM and Kuala Lumpur KTM stations would be closed from 9am to 5pm tomorrow. 'The KTM train will not stop at these stations during the closure period,' the notice said. A mass rally organised by Perikatan Nasional is expected to take place in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow, to call for the resignation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Participants will gather at Masjid Negara, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad, Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru and the Sogo shopping complex before marching to Dataran Merdeka. Organisers expect up to 300,000 participants, although a similar protest in Shah Alam earlier this month drew just over 300 people. Police have advised rallygoers to obey the law and assemble peacefully. Yesterday, acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Usuf Jan Mohamad said no roads would be closed in the capital city ahead of the 'Turun Anwar' rally.
