Iran says it obtained sensitive Israeli nuclear documents

Iranian intelligence agencies have obtained a large trove of sensitive Israeli documents, some related to the nuclear plans and facilities of Tehran's arch enemy, Iran's state media reported on Saturday.
There was no immediate official comment from Israel and it was not clear whether the report was linked to a reported hacking of an Israeli nuclear research centre last year that Tehran is choosing to divulge now amid heightened tensions over its nuclear programme.
'Although the operation to obtain the documents was carried out some time ago, the sheer volume of materials and the need to transport them safely into Iran necessitated a news blackout to ensure they reached the designated protected locations,' state-run PressTV reported, quoting unnamed sources.
'[Sources familiar with the matter] also noted that the abundance of documents is so vast that reviewing them, along with viewing images and videos, has consumed a significant amount of time,' PressTV added, without giving details of the documents.

Inside Southeast Asia's booming trade in fakes that the US hates

Persistence is the lifeblood of the counterfeit trade – an attribute Rahul* has in spades. Advertisement On the bustling, neon-lit streets of Bangkok, the thirty-something from India hawks imitation Rolex watches with a practised ease. 'This is nearly as good as the real one,' he says, grinning, before melting into the crowd, a bag of replica Swiss timepieces slung over his shoulder. His trade is illegal, yet it flourishes out in the open – a mere ripple in Southeast Asia's ocean of counterfeit goods. Now, that ocean is in the crosshairs of Washington, which is leveraging the region's persistent intellectual property violations in the tense final days of trade negotiations. Trump's White House has imposed a July 9 deadline: if trade talks fail, then on Wednesday Southeast Asia's export-driven economies could face punishing tariffs of up to 49 per cent. The primary target is Chinese goods diverted through neighbouring countries – a practice known as transshipment that helps Chinese products sidestep Washington's existing tariffs.

Israeli military confirms it has struck Houthi targets in Yemen

The Israeli military early on Monday confirmed it had struck targets across Yemen linked to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels. Israel said its fighter jets, 'in response to the repeated attacks by the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel', had 'struck and destroyed terror infrastructure belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime'. Among the targets were the ports of Hodeidah, Ras Issa, and Salif, Israel said. 'The Israeli enemy is targeting the port of Hodeida,' said Yemen's Houthi-run Al-Masirah television, also reporting strikes on Ras Issa, Salif and Ras Qatib. The Houthis said the group's air defences confronted the Israeli attack with missiles. Meanwhile, indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas towards a ceasefire deal in Gaza have started in Qatar, a Palestinian official familiar with the talks told Agence France-Presse late on Sunday.

Explosions heard at Yemen's Hodeidah port after Israel issues evacuation orders

Yemen's Houthi-run Al-Masirah television reported early on Monday that Israel launched a series of strikes on Hodeidah, soon after the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for people at three Yemeni ports. Advertisement The Israeli military's Arabic spokesman said late on Sunday that Israel will strike those areas due to military activities being conducted there. In a statement, the military's Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee identified those places as the ports of Hodeidah, Ras Isa and Salif, as well as the Hodeidah power station. Meanwhile, indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas towards a ceasefire deal in Gaza have started in Qatar, a Palestinian official familiar with the talks told Agence France-Presse late on Sunday. 'Negotiations are about implementation mechanisms and hostage exchange, and positions are being exchanged through mediators,' the official said. The talks began at around 9.30pm Jerusalem time and were still going on, he added.
