‘Mandala Murders' OTT release date OUT: Netflix's dark new series blends mythology and crime, premieres on THIS date
Netflix has officially announced the release date for its much-anticipated crime thriller 'Mandala Murders'. The series, produced by YRF Entertainment and set to premiere on July 25, marks the next chapter in the streaming giant's creative partnership with Yash Raj Films, following the critical success of 'The Railway Men'. Created by Gopi Puthran, known for his work on the 'Mardaani' franchise, and co-directed with Manan Rawat, 'Mandala Murders' blends the mythological with the procedural in a first-of-its-kind Indian thriller. Set in the hauntingly quiet town of Charandaspur, the series follows an unsettling trail of ritualistic killings tied to a centuries-old secret society and an ominous prophecy that refuses to stay buried. The narrative centres around detectives Rea Thomas, played by Vaani Kapoor, and Vikram Singh, portrayed by Vaibhav Raj Gupta. As the two investigators begin to unravel the strange murders, they find themselves pulled deeper into a conspiracy where mysticism, crime, and madness intertwine. Mysterious symbols, ancient beliefs, and a string of calculated killings create a web of intrigue as dense and complex as a mandala itself. This new role marks a significant turn for Vaani Kapoor, cast in a bold and intense avatar that departs from her previous screen appearances. She is joined by an ensemble cast including Surveen Chawla and Shriya Pilgaokar, both playing pivotal roles in the dark and atmospheric narrative. Executive producers Aditya Chopra, Uday Chopra, Yogendra Mogre, and Akshaye Widhani back the project, further cementing YRF's expanding footprint in digital storytelling.

Karan Johar on being trolled: ‘Thank God they're not indifferent, I must be relevant'
In an age where celebrities are constantly under scrutiny, Karan Johar has offered a refreshingly different perspective on internet trolling. In a recent interview, the filmmaker opened up about how he handles the constant barrage of online hate, and why he chooses to view it as a strange form of validation. 'Love and hate are both forms of appreciation' Karan , who directed last year's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, said that while being attacked online can be emotionally taxing, he chooses to see the silver lining. 'The good thing about being trolled or attacked is that, thank God, they are not being indifferent. I think love and hate are both forms of appreciation,' he explained. He added that silence or apathy would hurt more. 'Imagine if you've done something and no one is talking about it. That is the worst feeling,' he told Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story. Known for his flamboyant fashion and unfiltered opinions, Karan has often found himself in the eye of online storms. But instead of shying away, he's decided to wear it as a badge of honour. 'Even if they're b**ching about what I'm saying, what I'm wearing, or what I'm doing, I think to myself—I must really annoy people. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Uber luxury living at Hyderabad's billionaire junction Sumadhura Group Learn More Undo And then I'm like, how fabulous is that?' he said with a laugh. After winning three titles this year, including the recent UzChess Cup Masters, he is being lauded for his aggressive playing style. Praggnanandhaa's longtime coach RB Ramesh has revealed the reason behind this change. Speaking to The Indian Express, Ramesh said that Pragg was playing too safe in 2024 and that they had discussed bringing more adventure into his games. Ramesh also mentioned that Pragg has been working on new openings and trying different strategies, which has worked well for him so far. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Pragg is quite good in attack, but he was playing too solid in 2024. At least that was my impression. We discussed this and talked about being more adventurous, which you can see now. His chess was always quite good. Now he's also been adding new openings and trying a lot more variety of openings in games,' Ramesh told IE. Ramesh further revealed that there's another key person in Pragg's team, who is helping him with training. Ramesh said Grandmaster Vaibhav Suri has been working closely with Pragg for the past several months, but they had kept it private until recently when he started travelling with him for tournaments. 'Vaibhav has been helping us longer than this year. But we did not want to go public earlier (and reveal his association with Pragg). He has been with us for some time, but only recently he has started accompanying Pragg for tournaments and that has been very helpful,' he added. What's next for Praggnanandhaa? Praggnanandhaa recently joined Team Liquid ahead of the Esports World Cup 2025, strengthening the team's lineup that includes five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen and American GM Fabiano Caruana. However, to take part in the tournament, Pragg will need to earn his spot by competing in the Last Chance Qualifiers, where only four players will make it to the final EWC lineup. 12 players, including Carlsen, have already confirmed their spots for the event. Arjun Erigaisi of Generation Gaming is the only Indian to have qualified so far.
