James Blake has stood up for fellow Brits Coldplay, calling for the 'bashing' of the band to come to an end because 'it's not cool anymore.'
Blake shared his opinion during a recent episode of the BBC Sounds podcast Sidetracked with Annie and Nick, when he was asked to weigh in on a recent social media post from Chrissie Hynde, in which she shared what she thought was 'cool' versus 'uncool.'

Host Nick Grimshaw kicked off the conversation by asking Blake whether he thought bands in general were 'cool' again. After Annie Macmanus chimed in to say that it was hard to be a cool 'successful touring band,' the topic turned to how Coldplay was recently described as 'public school Nickelback' by BRIT Awards host Jack Whitehall.
In response, Blake said: 'Coldplay bashing has got to stop. It's not cool anymore! It's not cool anymore to just be like 'Coldplay's not cool.' Just fuck off. There are so many amazing Coldplay songs. And Chris Martin is clearly a melodic genius.'
He continued, '[If] you don't like the sound of their last few records, OK…? When you go and see them at Glastonbury, did you like a lot of the songs? Probably.'
'Maybe the band changed the way they dressed? Are we not allowed to change the way we dress?' Blake asked. 'Are we not allowed to bloody write songs in a different genre? Like, who cares, man? I get really a bit irate about this!'
Listen to the podcast here. The Coldplay discussion begins around 14:21.
For what it's worth, Martin recently revealed he's learned to embrace haters in an interview with Rolling Stone, while also admitting Coldplay are 'a very, very easy, safe target.' He added, 'There've been times where we [were like], 'Well, we should probably try and look a bit like this or talk a bit like that.' And now, it's just like, 'No.''
Haters aside, Coldplay are set to resume their record-setting international 'Music of the Spheres Tour' in April. See the full schedule below, and get tickets here.
Last summer, Blake teamed up with Lil Yachty for their collaborative album, Bad Cameo. His most recent solo album was 2023's Playing Robots into Heaven; grab your copy here.

Chris Martin Didn't Want Dakota Johnson Going Out With Friends, Claim ‘Sources'

A shift in relationship dynamics may have led to and split, according to recent claims. It has been almost a month since news surfaced about the couple's alleged breakup. Last month, it was reported that they parted ways after eight years of an on-and-off relationship. The much-loved pair was first romantically linked in 2017. A new report has now shed some light on what may have gone wrong between the two. Chris Martin's alleged behavior with Dakota Johnson may have caused their split, a new report has suggested. RadarOnline exclusively learned from an insider that the 35-year-old 'loved' the Coldplay star. However, he allegedly became too 'dependent on her in the end.' The source continued to explain the troubled dynamics, claiming that if Johnson 'went away or wasn't answering his calls for any length of time,' Martin would 'fly off the handle.' The insider added that this would happen 'even when they were in the same city.' They further alleged that the singer 'didn't approve' of the actor 'going out with friends.' According to the source, the 48-year-old 'preferred to stay in all the time instead of enjoying a social life.' Previously, during a 2021 interview with Elle, Johnson got candid about her relationship with Martin. At the time, the actor revealed that she and her beau would 'go out sometimes.' However, she added, 'But we both work so much that it's nice to be at home and be cozy and private.' She also shared that 'most of the partying' took place at her house. Since they sparked romance rumors in 2017, the pair has continued to keep their romance low-key. Meanwhile, following the alleged split, Johnson is 'getting her groove back now,' according to the RadarOnline insider. Reportedly, some of her friends even think she may 'eventually take him back.' However, the source claimed that the actor has remained adamant that 'it's for good this time.' Originally reported by Shriya Swami on RealityTea. Kayleigh McEnany of Fox News has a new baby. Big sis is thrilled; big bro not so much

Kayleigh McEnany and husband Sean Gilmartin welcomed their third child — a girl. 'We are overjoyed to announce the newest member of the 'Outnumbered' family,' Emily Compagno said Monday during the Fox News Channel show she co-hosts with McEnany. She noted that viewers could see the baby 'letting out a big yawn' in photos provided by her mom and dad. Avery was born on Wednesday, the network said. McEnany tweeted Monday that she and her husband are 'so in love with our new baby girl, Avery Grace! Blake and Nash love their baby sister, and we are enjoying this beautiful time in life!' McEnany was a tad more nuanced in notes given to Compagno, who quoted the three-time mom as saying that while big sister Blake, 5, 'can't stop thinking about the baby,' big brother Nash, 2, had 'finally warmed up to her.' In her announcement, the former White House press secretary included Psalm 139: 13-14, 'For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.' Compagno said the 'Outnumbered' crew, headed by Harris Faulkner, was 'wishing Kayleigh and Sean all the best as they continue to grow their beautiful family.' She told McEnany to please come back, but 'not too soon.' McEnany announced back in March that she and Gilmartin were expecting their third child. 'It's very sweet. It's been a special time,' she said. 'I've been pregnant during Christmas and during Thanksgiving, and my daughter Blake now knows, so she runs up and holds my stomach and is like, 'Let me kiss the baby.' ' The baby got in just under the June deadline that McEnany shared at the time. McEnany and Gilmartin, a pitcher who retired from professional baseball in 2022, started dating in 2015 and got married in 2017. After working in broadcast media initially, McEnany served as press secretary to President Trump from April 2020 through the end of his first term in January 2021, landing at Fox soon after. She's one of a host of former press secretaries who have landed jobs on cable and broadcast news.

Charli xcx's ‘Brat' Steals the Show at Glastonbury 2025: 5 Best Moments

How to bring Charli xcx's one-woman show – a triumph of emotive pop hedonism and discomfiting intimacy – to a sprawling, city-sized Worthy Farm? It was never going to be an easy task. More from Billboard BBC Says It Should Have Pulled Coverage of Bob Vylan's Controversial Glastonbury Set, Singer Says 'I Said What I Said' Marilyn Manson's U.K. Tour Opener Canceled Amid Backlash Amyl & the Sniffers Get Political During Fiery Glastonbury 2025 Set Yet there have been few sets at this year's Glastonbury Festival more anticipated than Charli's Saturday night Other Stage headline slot. The slime-green tinge of Brat Summer has remained bright and potent in all corners of pop culture since the 32-year-old released her sixth studio album last summer, elevating her from cult starlet to five BRIT wins and sold-out arenas on both sides of the Atlantic – an impossibly huge feat, given how idiosyncratic and debauched her vision of pop is. Saturday's billing is even more impressive when you remember that, only three years ago, the Essex-raised singer seemed disillusioned with her career; ill-at-ease with the major label system machine and stung by mixed opinions on 2022's slick (and safe) Crash – a record she has since admitted that she is unable to listen to in full. She continued to climb to her feet after being knocked down, however; she now possesses the powerful air of a victorious underdog. More than 60,000 fans showed up in their sequined droves to this milestone-making moment for Charli, with Glastonbury organizers having upped capacity at the Other Stage this year to avoid overcrowding. Wearing a black leather two-piece and an Alexander McQueen scarf, the set immediately plunged into the club-focused physicality of Brat, with an overdubbing of bass resulting in a genuinely thrilling racket – as visceral and propulsive as a warehouse rave. With no special guest appearances (Lorde, where art thou?), Charli performed this confidently minimalist show entirely solo, with a set consisting merely of a series of alternating white stage lights. But the power of this blank production canvas is that it lets audience members project their own lives and stories onto the music. Here are the five best moments from Charli's Other Stage headline slot. In the style of Brat and its carefree spirit, Charli's live show is both ramshackle and intensely thought-out at the same time; sometimes, she pretends to forget the words to her own songs, even as she's marching across the stage in perfect synchronicity with the music. Her black sunglasses stayed permanently affixed to her face, meanwhile, as she commanded Glastonbury to 'get the f— up' throughout a raucous '365.' When onstage videographer Aidan Zamiri panned out to the crowd during 'Von Dutch,' the audience lifted up their phones, creating a sea of lights that stretched as far back as the eye could see. He continued to follow Charli around the stage, always keeping the thousands of revelers behind her in view. This simple, effective setup felt like a stark contrast to the absolute maximalism of The 1975's headline set on the Pyramid Stage the night prior. After 'I Might Say Something Stupid,' Charli blitzed through the rest of her set almost as quickly as the car chase she sings about on 'Speed Drive.' She walked around with a pint of white wine to hand, rarely pausing to chat bar a brief acknowledgement of the crowd's support. 'I am known to have a heart of stone,' she said. 'But this moment means so much to me. Thank you, Glastonbury.' Part of the fun of the Brat tour is the guessing game that accompanies the TikTok-famous 'Apple' dance, for which Charli selects one new lucky audience member each night. In recent months, everyone from Amelia Dimoldenberg to Chappell Roan and Clairo have stepped up to the spotlight, but it was Gracie Abrams' time to shine at Glastonbury, delivering the routine with fierce precision while dressed in a baby-pink cardigan. At the start of a pulsating 'Von Dutch,' only three songs in, pockets of Charli's Brat backdrop burst into flames. As her current world tour has progressed, the artwork has continued to deteriorate – or 'rotting right to the core,' you could say. You could take the corroded backdrop as a sign of how she's slowly leaving her zeitgeist-defining album behind, but Charli's closing message told us otherwise: 'Brat is forever,' read two supersized LED signs, before fireworks shot dazzlingly into the night.
