‘Target': Pop star LeAnn Rimes reveals fallout of torrid affair with Eddie Cibrian

News.com.au09-07-2025
LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's infamous affair came with major fallout.
The Can't Fight the Moonlight singer, 42, looked back on 'all of the craziness' that she and Cibrian, 52, dealt with when they cheated on their respective former spouses over 15 years ago.
'I realised very quickly that there are a lot of women who've been hurt,' Rimes said in a new interview with Flow Space. 'Like, I've been on both sides of that coin — I've been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling.'
'But so many women don't know what to do with that anger,' Rimes continued. 'I was a target that was just easily projected upon. And once I realised that, things got a lot easier.'
Rimes and Cibrian started their affair in 2008 while they were filming the Lifetime movie Northern Lights.
At the time, Rimes was married to actor Dean Sheremet, while Cibrian was married to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville.
Rimes explained in the interview that over time, she learned how to handle the backlash to her and Cibrian's relationship.
'Instead of taking it so personally, it's like, look: This is not all my pain to carry. I know what I'm responsible for in the situation and making amends for that,' she said.
'But you know, the world's pain is not mine to carry,' the Masked Singer winner added, 'and I think that really got thrown at me for a long time.'
Rimes – who married Cibrian in 2011 and became a step mum to his and Glanville's sons Mason, 22, and Jake, 18 — also recognised how much she's changed since the scandal.
'I think I've gone from survival to thriving to — if there is a level up from thriving — to truly living,' she said. 'I think that's where I'm headed.'
Cibrian initially denied that he and Rimes had an affair in 2009. Later that year, the CSI: Miami actor and Rimes split from their respective spouses and went public as a couple.
In 2010, Rimes told People that her affair was 'one of the most selfish things that I could possibly do, in hurting someone else.'
'I take responsibility for everything I've done. I hate that people got hurt, but I don't regret the outcome,' the 'Blue' singer added.
Glanville, for her part, was furious over her husband's affair and even once threatened to 'murder' Rimes.
'I walked over to her, grabbed Jake and I looked at her and said: 'I will f–king murder you,' the Bravo alum continued, adding that she 'was so mad at Eddie for blowing up our life together.'
However, Glanville has made amends with her ex-husband and his wife. She's even spent holidays with the couple over the years.

Paris Jackson's bitter battle over Michael Jackson's estate

Michael Jackson's estate revealed they dealt with 'issues' related to one of the King of Pop's ex-wives and his former home as part of a plea for legal fees. Earlier this month, the pop star's daughter Paris raised 'serious' concerns over payments made from her father's estate. The payouts in question were to law firms for 'unrecorded attorney time' in 2018, which was unclear what the lawyers were being paid for. In court documents from February 2025 obtained by Us Magazine, the estate's executers, John Branca and John McClain, detailed what one of the law firms worked on during that period. According to the lawyers, some work was done 'addressing issues relating to Michael Jackson's former spouse'. However, the filing did not identify which of the singer's former wives was involved. Jackson was married to Lisa Marie Presley from 1994 to 1996 and Debbie Rowe, who is the mother of Paris and her brother Prince, from 1996 to 2000. Other matters included legal issues related to the musician's former home, Neverland Ranch, and meetings with a potential buyer. The property was put on the market in 2015 for $US100 million ($A128 million). After five years and numerous price cuts, the sprawling property finally found a buyer. Billionaire and friend of the late pop star Ron Burkle purchased the 2700-acre (1092Ha) estate for $US22 million ($A28 million). It was considered a 'bargain' far below its initial asking price of $US100 million ($A128 million). Paris, who is one of the beneficiaries of her father's estate along with her brothers Prince and Bigi, objected to 'premium payouts' made for unrecorded attorney time. In her court filing, the 27-year-old's argued, 'During this [six-month period] alone in 2018, Executors request that the Court approve $625,000 ($A957,000) in payments to three law firms for what they say is uncaptured time, without explanation as to why counsel was incapable of recording unbilled time, or why such a failure should not preclude payment.' Her lawyer added, 'Even worse, these payments appear, at least in part, to consist of lavish gratuities bestowed upon already well-compensated counsel.' Jackson's legal team argued the payouts reflect poorly on the executers of the estate, writing: 'These irregular payments raise serious and substantial questions about Executors' ability to effectively supervise counsel … and refraining from wasteful, six-figure gift-giving to themselves and their colleagues.' The filing added: 'Despite repeated inquiries from the Court, Executors are unable to provide even remotely satisfactory explanation for their delay, nor have they provided the beneficiaries any sort of plan to fix this ongoing and worsening issue.' A hearing has been set for later this month.

Salvador Plasencia pleads guilty to supplying ketamine to Matthew Perry

A California doctor has pleaded guilty to supplying Matthew Perry with the prescription anaesthetic ketamine in the weeks leading up to the Friends star's overdose death. Salvador Plasencia is one of five people charged in relation to Perry's death in October 2023. He was charged with four counts of illegally distributing ketamine, and faces up to 40 years in prison when sentenced, according to prosecutors. In a plea agreement with prosecutors, Plasencia admitted injecting Perry with ketamine at the actor's home and in a Santa Monica parking lot in the weeks before his death, and that doing so was not for legitimate medical purposes. Ketamine is a short-acting anaesthetic with hallucinogenic properties, sometimes prescribed to treat depression and anxiety but also abused by recreational users. Plasencia, who operated an urgent care clinic, obtained the ketamine from another doctor, Mark Chavez of San Diego. According to court filings, Plasencia texted Chavez about Perry, writing: "I wonder how much this moron will pay." Chavez and two other co-defendants have already pleaded guilty in the case, but all are yet to be sentenced. A fifth defendant, Jasveen Sangha, whom authorities said was a drug dealer known to customers as the "ketamine queen", was charged with supplying the dose that killed Perry. She has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to go on trial in August. Prior to his death, Perry had publicly acknowledged decades of substance abuse, including during the years he starred as Chandler Bing on the hit 1990s television sitcom Friends. Reuters

Mortifying moment Lady Gaga falls to the ground in front of fans in awkward concert blunder

Lady Gaga fell to the ground just inches away from fans during an awkward slip-up at her Las Vegas concert over the weekend. Pop superstar Gaga, 39, was performing Vanish Into You during Saturday night's Mayhem Ball show at the T-Mobile Arena when the mishap unfolded, reports The Sun. It began when one of her cameramen lost his balance after departing the stage and had to be steadied by a nearby security guard. Gaga calmly adjusted the crew member's equipment and continued walking – only to trip herself moments later. She managed to catch her footing and carried on singing, but stumbled again just before the word 'fly' and fell sideways near the edge of the stage. The moment, caught on fan cameras, showed the singer landing close to the front row, where audience members were watching from just feet away. One shared the clip to TikTok, writing: 'MY POOR MOTHER MONSTER FALLING DURING VANISH INTO YOU [crying emoji] AND THE CAMERAMAN JUST BEFORE.' Despite the tumble, Gaga was helped up and immediately resumed the song without missing a beat. The incident took place during the first week of Gaga's global tour, which launched on 16 July and will continue through to January with a final run of shows in Japan. It follows a series of stage mishaps involving other major stars. Beyoncé was recently left suspended mid-air during a Texas show when a red car she was performing in got stuck. During her performance of 16 Carriages, the superstar hopped into a red car which was then lifted high into the air using cables. She pulled on a silver cowboy hat and waved an American flag for her in-air adventures, yet was forced to halt the song as the vehicle leaned dangerously to one side. The crowd paused when she stopped singing and signalled for help, before erupting into cheers as the vehicle was lowered to solid ground. Like a pro, Beyonce continued the song then told her adoring fans: 'I wanna thank y'all, for loving me. 'If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me.' Katy Perry, meanwhile, nearly fell from a giant sphere on her Lifetimes tour in Australia and later appeared to slip on a butterfly-shaped prop during Roar. She had climbed into the huge metal structure when it began tilting dramatically at a strange angle. An army of quick-thinking backstage crew members raced onto the set in Australia to steady the massive prop so Katy – who was clinging on to the sides – could climb down safely. With the backing music stopped, the crowd could be heard applauding the star and shouting 'go, Katy!' as she made her way out and onto the floor.
