Farmers' response to Amaravati LPS positive, and concerns raised will be addressed, says Tadikonda MLA Sravan Kumar

The Hindua day ago
The State government has almost completed the first round of consultations with the farmers on the proposed Amaravati Land Pooling Scheme (LPS 2.0) that is aimed at expanding the capital city, according to TDP's Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar.
'While a majority of the farmers in the Amaravati capital region are willing to part with their lands under the LPS to the A.P. Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), several others have expressed concerns and raised certain demands, which will be taken to the notice of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu,' Mr. Sravan Kumar told The Hindu on the sidelines of the grama sabha at Nidumukkala on Saturday.
'Many farmers are supportive of the government's vision, but they have raised pertinent issues regarding compensation and future benefits. We will ensure their voices reach the Chief Minister,' Mr. Sravan Kumar said.
He said works costing more than ₹42,000 crore had already been initiated in the first phase of Amaravati construction, including government buildings and LPS layouts, with completion timelines ranging from nine months to three years.
'With the capital city evolving, the government is receiving an influx of proposals from private firms. New mega projects are in the pipeline, including a Quantum Valley, an international airport, and an international sports city, all necessitating significant additional land,' he said.
To meet the growing demand, the government launched the LPS 2.0, targeting to pool over 47,000 acres across Tadikonda Assembly constituency in Guntur district and Pedakurapadu constituency in Palnadu district.
'The development under LPS 2.0 will not financially burden the government or the APCRDA. It will be self-sustained through investments from interested private companies. We are creating a model that is both visionary and viable'Tenali Sravan KumarTadikonda MLA
Importantly, Mr. Sravan Kumar said the development under LPS 2.0 would not financially burden the government, or the APCRDA. 'It will be self-sustained through investments from interested private companies. We are creating a model that is both visionary and viable,' the MLA asserted.
Acknowledging the farmers' demand for revised compensation, especially in comparison with the market value of already developed plots, Mr. Sravan Kumar said, 'While we understand their concerns, farmers must also realise that land values will increase manifold once development is complete. Still, we are committed to securing maximum benefits for them.'
Taking a swipe at the previous YSRCP government, Mr. Sravan Kumar accused former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of halting development and disturbing over 1,200 acres of capital land in the first phase. 'As a result, the NDA government is now compelled to acquire land for the proposed sports city under LPS 2.0,' he said.
'Without sports infrastructure, we cannot expect international sporting events or nurture local talent,' he said.
'Out of the proposed 47,000 acres, only 10,000 acres will be available for direct government use after allocating land for returnable plots, green zones, public utilities, and infrastructure,' he added.

Ryots protest against second phase land pooling in Andhra

GUNTUR: Tension flared in Ponnekallu village of Tadikonda mandal on Saturday when a group of villagers staged a protest during a Grama Sabha. It may be recalled that the State government has commenced the second phase of land pooling for Amaravati's development, and the Grama Sabhas are being held in Tadikonda mandal to gather farmers' views. The meeting, attended by Tadikonda MLA Sravan Kumar and officials, was disrupted by protestors who raised slogans such as 'Go back,' opposing the proposed land acquisition and alleging a lack of transparency. The meeting was halted. Guntur RDO K Srinivasa Rao told TNIE that a few farmers disrupted the session with 'ulterior motives'. However, he said that Grama Sabhas in nearby villages such as Nekkallu and Tadikapadu were conducted peacefully, with most farmers agreeing to part with their land. Grama Sabhas were completed in the other nine villages of the mandal. While supporting the land pooling initiative, many farmers raised concerns regarding loan waivers on pledged lands, an increase in annual lease payments, and a 15-year lease period, similar to what was offered during the first phase. MLA Sravan Kumar assured the farmers that their concerns would be brought to the Chief Minister's attention and that suitable steps would be taken after due consideration.

I did not comment on any political leader: Anirudh Reddy

Jadcherla: Jadcherla MLA Janampally Anirudh Reddy has issued a clarification over his recent remarks related to the Banakacharla project, asserting that his comments were directed only at contractors and not at any political leaders. Addressing the growing political row, the MLA said a few opposition leaders were twisting his words and launching a false propaganda without even watching his original video statement. Speaking to the media, Anirudh Reddy said, 'I clearly referred to contractors associated with Chandrababu Naidu, who are active in Telangana's irrigation and road projects and operating in Hyderabad. When questioned, these contractors rush to Naidu seeking intervention to stop works like the Banakacharla project. My reference to 'coverts' was strictly in this context.' The MLA expressed anger over opposition leaders, including KT Rama Rao (KTR), for misinterpreting his statement and alleging that he had indirectly targeted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. 'If calling Revanth Reddy a covert because he came from TDP is valid, then even KCR, who also came from TDP, should be considered the same. Isn't that absurd?' he questioned. Anirudh Reddy urged political leaders and the public to watch his full video before drawing conclusions. 'I did not comment on any political leader. I only spoke about contractors, and I stand by that,' he reiterated.

YSRCP calls for recall of CM over unfulfilled promises

Rajamahendravaram: YSRCP has intensified its campaign to recall Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, accusing his government of failing to implement election promises. Party State official spokesperson and former MP Margani Bharat Ram urged party leaders and cadres to strongly propagate this call, initiated by their chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, among the public. Speaking at an extensive meeting of the city party at Margani Estate's city office on Sunday, Bharat Ram alleged that Naidu has once again deceived the public with false promises in 2024 elections. 'Giving promises and failing to fulfill them is not new for Chandrababu Naidu,' Bharat Ram stated. He criticised Naidu for abandoning 'Job Kavali Ante Babu Ravali' (If you want a job, Babu should come) slogan from 2014 elections. He further highlighted that the current government has failed to deliver on numerous assurances, including the 'Super Six' promises. He contrasted this with the previous YSRCP government, asserting that Jagan Mohan Reddy implemented numerous welfare schemes from 2019 to 2024, unlike anywhere else in the country. Bharat Ram accused the current government of not only failing to deliver on its election promises but also of selectively choosing beneficiaries for existing schemes based on party affiliation. He claimed that no other government in the country has garnered such significant public opposition within just one year. Bharat Ram urged party workers to strive for victory in every upcoming election, particularly ensuring a YSRCP win in Rajahmundry. Rajahmundry party observer Thippala Gurumurthy Reddy and East Godavari district president and former Minister Chelluboina Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna, who participated as chief guests, also spoke at the event. They credited Jagan Mohan Reddy with truly defining welfare through his schemes. They advised cadres to complete a five-week program to educate the public at the grassroots level about the TDP's 'fake promises'. Leaders including BC Associations JAC leader Margani Nageswara Rao and Chandana Nageshwar also addressed the gathering. During the event, posters featuring a QR code for 'Babu Security Fraud Guarantee' campaign and Chandrababu Naidu's recall were unveiled.
