Delays on M6 after driver seriously hurt in crash
Part of the northbound carriageway of the M6 has been closed after a crash left a driver seriously injured and a vehicle on fire. It is due to a collision between a van and a stationary skip wagon near Charnock Richard services, Lancashire Police said. The motorway is closed northbound between junctions 27 for Standish and 28 for Leyland, with delays of about an hour as traffic from a four-mile tailback is being led past the scene. Lancashire Police, Lancashire Fire & Rescue, North West Ambulance Service and National Highways Traffic Officers are attending the scene. 'Do not film' "We know that this closure will have a significant impact on motorists, however our officers are working as quickly as they can at the scene to get the carriageway back open," the force said. "We would ask that people in moving traffic do not film from their vehicles. "Two people have already been seen doing this, and we will look to prosecute them in due course." A47 closed into the evening after diesel spillage
Resurfacing works on an A-road following a diesel spillage will continue into the evening, National Highways has said. Norfolk Police said it was called to the A47 Easton roundabout at 22:51 BST on Thursday, following reports of a spillage on the road. National Highways said the road was shut between the A1074 (Norwich) and B1110 (Honingham) for emergency resurfacing works following the incident. However, it said the works were being made "complicated" due to rising temperatures affecting the curing process. A spokesperson for National Highways said specialist contractors were at the road. The work was expected to be completed by Friday afternoon, however, National Highways has now said it was aiming for the road to be reopened by Friday evening. The time of this is currently not known. It added police were looking into the cause of the spillage, which it said was not known. Drivers were advised to take alternative routes and allow extra time for their journey. Follow Norfolk news on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram and X. Related internet links National Highways
