Which Jaguars franchise records could be broken this season?

Yahoo5 days ago

The Jaguars have some players closing in on franchise milestones while others have pretty decent odds to set some single-season records. Let's look at four Jaguars records set to be broken in 2025.
Trevor Lawrence: Single-Season Passing Record
Trevor Lawrence is quietly climbing up the Jaguars passing leaderboard. Lawrence needs just 2,189 passing yards in 2025 to pass David Garrard for third in franchise history. He's just 21 passing touchdowns from third place in touchdowns as well. The record to watch out for, however, is Blake Bortles' single-season passing record of 4,428 yards. The Jaguars have just four seasons of 4,000 or more yards passing yet half of those belong to Lawrence. With Brian Thomas Jr and Travis Hunter locked and loaded, Bortles' record is in real danger this season.
Travis Etienne: Third All-Time in Career Rushing Yards
Speaking of quietly climbing up leaderboards, Travis Etiene is just 261 rushing yards shy of passing James Stewart to become third in career rushing yards for the franchise. Injuries have plagued Etienne's, causing the young back to either miss time or play injured and it's made difficult. If Etienne had been able to play his rookie season, he might be pushing 4,000 career yards. Between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, just two running backs totaled 1400 or more scrimmage yards: Christian McCaffrey and Travis Etienne. I don't expect that sort of production this year from Etienne but the 261 rushing yards should come easy.
Josh Hines-Allen: All-Time Franchise Career Sack
Maybe the easiest and obvious record set to be broken this season, Josh Hines-Allen needs just 2.5 sacks to become the Jaguars' all-time sack leader, passing Tony Brackens (55.0). The scary part is that Hines-Allen is just 27 years old as of me writing this. He turns 28 in just a couple weeks. This one likely happens during the early part of the season, however, it's also important to keep in mind that a third double-digit sack season from either Hines-Allen or Travon Walker would be the most in Jaguars history. A third from Walker would be three double-digit sacks in a row.
Cam Little: Single-Season 50+ Yard Field Goals
For those who may not know, Cam Little currently has the Jaguars' franchise record for highest career Field Goal %. He's only played one season, however, that's quite something for the young rookie who nailed 93.1% of his kicks last season. In his rookie season, Little tied the franchise record for longest kick (59 yards), showing off his impressive leg totaling five kicks of 50 yards or more. It begs the question, is Jason Meyers seven 50+ yard field goals in a single season in jeopardy? It's easy to assume the Jaguars' offense will enter scoring range far more often this season. That record might just be his

Jacksonville Jaguars 3 best moves of the 2025 NFL offseason

In an offseason full of change for the Jacksonville Jaguars, which of the many moves made between free agency and the NFL draft would you consider their best? Rather than focusing solely on player acquisitions that were made this offseason--we can do that at a later time--I'm going to take a more holistic approach to answering this question. Hiring James Gladstone as the GM At the end of the day, it is the players who make the plays and win the games on Sundays, but getting to that point often starts with strong leadership. Coming from a successful organization in the LA Rams, Gladstone brings unique experiences, systems, and thought processes to Jacksonville that can help reshape the roster and organization fairly quickly. Advertisement But even more important than that is Gladstone has a very clear vision for where he wants this organization to go and the path to getting there. Ultimately, we won't know if the Jaguars are on the right track until games are played on Sundays and we have a large enough sample size to evaluate, but with this new leadership structure, it certainly feels like Jacksonville is heading the right direction and doing so quickly. Hiring head coach Liam Coen As many players have described, there is a tangible energy in the Jaguars' facility this offseason, and a lot of that starts with Liam Coen and the culture he is establishing. Then, from a football sense, Coen is bringing a Sean McVay-esque offense to the Jaguars. This is a system that's rooted in multiplicity, meaning that it throws a variety of different looks at opposing defenses to keep them off balance and guessing. Around the NFL in recent years, we've seen numerous quarterbacks and offenses have success in similar style systems. Again, the players make the plays, but this scheme can help shoulder some of that playmaking burden. Building around Trevor Lawrence This has been a clear priority for the Jaguars this offseason--making sure they are maximizing the window that they have with Lawrence. It started by hiring Coen and bringing in that offensive scheme of his. But in addition to that, Gladstone reshaped the offensive line by making six additions up front, which is where consistent success begins for any offense, and he also added a lot more speed by acquiring Dyami Brown, Travis Hunter, and Bhayshul Tuten. Advertisement With more balance around Lawrence, he's now in a better position not to have to do it all and be Superman on every play. Lawrence's play will determine the ceiling for this Jaguars team, so making sure that he's in the best position possible to succeed needs to be and has been a major priority for the new-look Jaguars. How many Jacksonville Jaguars players could make 2025 NFL top 100 rankings?

How many players on the Jacksonville Jaguars could appear on the NFL top 100 list for the 2025 season? The NFL is set to unveil its list of the top 100 players for the upcoming season, as voted on by the players, beginning on June 30th. The unveiling of these rankings will run through August 29th, with two new players being revealed each weekday as the countdown goes from No. 100 down to No. 1. Advertisement The player reveals will take place on X at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM ET on weekdays and feature a three to five-minute video about each member on the list. Which Jacksonville Jaguars players could make the NFL's top 100 list in 2025? On the 2024 NFL top 100, the Jaguars had two players on the list, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence coming in at No. 94 and defensive end Josh Hines-Allen at No. 35. Those two again will be top candidates to make this year's list, and I'm sure wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is a safe bet as well, after he was one of the most productive receivers in the NFL as a rookie, totaling the third-most receiving yards in 2024. Advertisement Defensive end Travon Walker is another name to watch for. He was top-20 last season among his position group in pressures, along with recording double-digit sacks for the second consecutive year.
