Wholesome reason Coldplay to re-release nine of their previous albums

Daily Mirror20-06-2025
Coldplay, whose members include Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland, have issued 10 albums since 2000, including Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head and Mylo Xyloto
Coldplay are to reissue nine of their previous albums on clear records made from recycled plastic bottles.
The EcoRecords are claimed to reduce carbon emissions during the manufacturing process by 85% compared with traditional vinyl production. Chris Martin's band have 10 albums to their name since their formation in the late 1990s, including debut album Parachutes which topped the charts in 2000.

Jen Ivory, managing director of the band's label Parlophone, said: "We are incredibly proud to partner with artists such as Coldplay who share our commitment to a more sustainable future for music. The shift to EcoRecord LP for their releases is a testament to what's possible when innovation meets intention.

"It's not just about a new product, it's about pioneering manufacturing that significantly reduces environmental impact, providing fans with the same high-quality audio experience while setting a new standard for physical music production."
Each 140g LP is made up of approximately nine recycled bottles, after they are cleaned, processed into small pellets and then moulded into records.
Coldplay will re-release debut album Parachutes (2000), A Rush of Blood To The Head (2002), X&Y (2005), Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends (2008), Mylo Xyloto (2011), Ghost Stories (2014), A Head Full Of Dreams (2015), Everyday Life (2019) and Music Of The Spheres (2021) in the series.
The band's latest album Moon Music, released last year, has already been released on an EcoRecord LP. It comes after Coldplay claimed they had exceeded their climate change target while attempting to put on one of the greenest tours in history.
In 2024, the group claimed its CO2 emissions were 59% less for the first two years of their Music Of The Spheres Tour compared to their stadium tour from 2016 to 2017, surpassing an initial 50% target.
The group used rechargeable batteries fuelled by renewable sources for the shows along with other efforts. Coldplay have long campaigned for climate action, with frontman Chris Martin saying in 2019 they would not launch a globe-trotting tour for their album Everyday Life due to environmental concerns.
In October last year, Martin claimed his band would stop making albums after their 12th record, with Moon Music being their 10th. All of the London-formed band's albums have reached number one on the UK albums chart and the group have also had two number one singles in Viva La Vida and Paradise. The latest series of reissues will be released on August 15 with pre-orders open on Coldplay's website.

SARAH VINE: This is why I am defending the Coldplay cuddle couple. The world has gone mad... this hysterical outcry is out of order

Forgive me, but have I suddenly woken up in the 19th century? Have I fallen asleep and slid back in time to the days of corsets and smelling salts? Should I starch my lace doilies and cover up my chair legs in anticipation of a visit from the prude police? I can't be the only one who thinks that the hysterical global response to the Coldplay 'kiss cam' couple has been completely disproportionate.

Kerry Katona sparks huge debate with very bold take on Coldplay kiss cam scandal

Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona has shared her thoughts on the positives of infidelity in a marriage following CEO Andy Byron's antics at Coldplay's concert in Boston Kerry Katona has shared her unpopular opinion on infidelity after Tech tycoon Andy Byron and his Astronomer colleague Kristin Cabot went viral at a Coldplay concert last week. ‌ The now viral clip in question showed CEO Byron and HR staffer Cabot appear on a 'kiss cam' during the band's show in Boston last week. The pair had been in an embrace, but once they realised they were on the big screen, they leapt out of each other's arms, seemingly in a panic. ‌ Cabot covered her face with her hands as Byron crouched down to stop his face being in view. He also appeared to say 'f****** hell, it's me." ‌ Coldplay frontman Chris Martin had some theories, and speaking into the microphone, he quipped: 'Oh, what… either they're having an affair or they're just very shy." Following the incident, a statement claiming to be from Byron hit out at Coldplay for showing the moment. But his company has since revealed the statement was fake. ‌ The CEO has since resigned after he was caught appearing to canoodle with his Head of HR at the Coldplay concert in the US, the company confirmed over the weekend. The tech firm said its boss had tendered his resignation, and the board of directors had accepted it. Following the controversy, Kerry, 44, has shared her own unique perspective on infidelity. Speaking of the CEO's alleged affair with his employee, Kerry said: "I can't believe Chris Martin caught a couple looking cosy at one of Coldplay's concerts in Boston and they ended up on a big screen in front of millions of fans. Then the video went viral. There were rumours of an affair." Kerry then lifted the lid on the affair she had while married to her ex husband Mark Croft, admitting that it was the 'best thing' she ever did. The mum-of-five even went as far as to say that the affair 'saved' her life. ‌ "Yes, I had an affair myself once, while I was married to my second husband, Mark Croft, and it was the best thing I ever did. I'd say it probably saved my life," Kerry confessed when comparing her affair to Andy Byron's alleged infidelity with his employee. Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry split from Mark in 2011 after less than four years of marriage. Kerry cheated on him with ex Royal Marine Kevin Greent after they met at the GI Jane Bootcamp, but she has said the affair was "the best thing I ever did". ‌ Speaking candidly about her affair with Greent, Kerry previously said: "We were both married we both fell madly in love with each other he did leave his wife for a little bit but for me that just... It saved my life." Kerry and Mark, who have children Heidi and Max together, had a turbulent relationship, and Kerry previously blamed him for contributing to her drug use and accused him of stealing her money. ‌ Kerry was also previously married to Westlife singer Brian McFadden from 2002 to 2006, Mark from 2007 to 2011 and the late George Kay from 2014 to 2017. Reflecting on her love life and failed marriages, Kerry previously told GB News: "I have loved and I've often ended up marrying them, bearing in mind I was only 18 when I met Brian and we were together for seven years when Brian left me. "With Mark I thought 'oh my god my kids are from a broken home' and I was trying to fulfil my dream as a broken child, and not so much what they needed but not realising that I was enough for my kids and I thought I need to get married and Mark asked me to marry him and I said yes."I thought that will fix everything, that will fix the problem. I thought I'll get married, I'll have some more kids and I'll try and fix what's been broken, and that's a pattern that I continued to do. I did it with my third husband too, and I had another amazing child as well."
