Iowa basketball linked to another Missouri Valley Conference standout
According to The Portal Report, Iowa basketball is among the group of schools that have been in contact with Southern Illinois transfer guard Kennard Davis Jr.
Iowa joins a list of schools that also features Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arizona State, Virginia Tech, Miami and LSU. Davis has already visited Ohio State and LSU.
A 6-foot-6, 215 pound guard, Davis averaged 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 45.5% from the field and 37.6% from 3-point range.
Davis is a player that first-year Iowa head men's basketball coach Ben McCollum knows well. McCollum saw Davis and the Salukis twice last season.
Drake won both contests, but Davis poured in 22 points on an 8-for-13 shooting performance in the two teams' first meeting on Feb. 1. Davis knocked down 4-of-6 from beyond the arc in that first meeting.
Then, Davis scored 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting in the second meeting between the two squads last season on March 7 in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
Davis played in 64 games and started 41 over his two seasons with the Salukis. The St. Louis, Mo., native is ranked as a four-star transfer portal prospect per both 247Sports and On3. 247Sports ranks Davis as the nation's No. 54 transfer and as the No. 11 small forward in the transfer portal.
Here's a look at Davis' highlights:

Watch former Texas A&M QB throw after devastating 2024 injury with North Carolina

Former Texas A&M quarterback Max Johnson suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of his first starting season with North Carolina, which was devastating, to say the least. After two successful seasons with LSU, which included 2,814 yards and 27 pass touchdowns during the 2021 campaign, Johnson's brief backup/starting stint with the Aggies will continue to be remembered based on the Georgia native's toughness, similar to his father, former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl champion Brad Johnson. Johnson will enter the 2025 season knowing that this his his final shot to prove his worth at the next level, and while his 2021 performance solidifed his ability to lead an offense, especially in the SEC, he will need to either match, or get close his final season with the Tigers for NFL scouts to take notice. Either way, this could be one of the great comeback stories to start off the 2025 season. Last season, Johnson's brother, tight end Jake Johnson, followed him to North Carolina and dealt with his only injury issues while appearing in two games, recording two receptions for 21 yards. On X, Max Johnson posted a video of himself throwing and working through his progressions during a recent workout, as his leg looks completely healed, while his mobility is back to form. This fall, Johnson will battle with transfer QB Gio Lopez and freshman Bryce Baker for the starting job. I can safely say that both the Texas A&M and LSU fan base are rooting for Johnson to succeed during his final season with the Tarheels, will will officially introduce NFL Hall of Famer Bill Belichick as the program's newest head coach.
