Netflix's Bridgerton season 4 teases Benedict's forbidden love story

Express Tribune14-02-2025
Netflix has released a first look at Bridgerton season 4, teasing the romantic journey of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and his love interest, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
The latest installment in Shonda Rhimes' hit Regency-era drama is set to adapt An Offer From a Gentleman, Julia Quinn's novel that introduces a Cinderella-like love story.
The teaser, unveiled during Netflix's 'Season of Love' event, includes behind-the-scenes footage and new images. Showrunner Jess Brownell revealed that season 4 will be the 'most faithful' book adaptation yet, featuring iconic moments such as the grand masquerade ball, Sophie's hidden identity, and the much-anticipated lake scene.
This season will also delve deeper into the class divide of the Regency era, as Sophie, a former lady's maid, falls for the wealthy and free-spirited Benedict. Fans can expect romance, intrigue, and forbidden love themes at the heart of the season's eight episodes.
Returning cast members include Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton), Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Bridgerton), Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma), and Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte). The series is executive-produced by Rhimes, Brownell, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen.
Currently in production in London, Bridgerton season 4 does not yet have an official release date.

‘Emily in Paris' heads to Venice for part of season 5 shoot

Netflix's Emily in Paris is set to bring its fashionable escapades to a new city - Venice. The fifth season of the hit romantic comedy will partially film in the iconic Italian lagoon city between August 5–15, according to Luca Zaia, governor of the Veneto region. Zaia praised the development as 'extraordinary news,' noting that the shoot underscores the Veneto region's growing appeal for international film and television productions. Director Andrew Fleming is reportedly scouting Venetian locations with the support of the Veneto Film Commission and local production company 360 Degrees Film. Season 5 began filming in Rome earlier this year and returned to Paris in June. It picks up shortly after the events of Season 4, with Emily (played by Lily Collins) settling into her new life in Rome, balancing work at Agence Grateau's Italian office and a budding romance with Marcello, heir to a luxury cashmere brand. The addition of Venice adds a fresh layer of glamour and historic charm to the already globetrotting series, which previously turned Parisian cafés and Roman piazzas into tourist destinations. However, this latest location comes with a bit of controversy: Venice has recently drawn criticism for its growing reputation as a playground for the ultra-wealthy, following events like Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's high-profile wedding. Emily in Paris, created by Darren Star and produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and Jax Media, continues to influence both pop culture and travel trends. As fans await the new season, Venice's canals and palazzos promise to offer a picturesque, and possibly dramatic, backdrop for Emily's next chapter.

Liam Payne recorded two albums before passing, family considers posthumous release for fans

Liam Payne recorded two unreleased albums before his death, with his family now considering whether to release the music posthumously. Payne, known for his work with One Direction, died at age 31 in October 2024 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to the Daily Mail, the first album was recorded in Camden, North London, with producer Jamie Scott, who previously worked with One Direction. The second album was created in Palm Beach, Florida, and Sweden during the summer of 2024, a period described by friends as one of renewed focus on music and wellness. Roger Nores, a long-time friend, shared that Payne 'was really looking after himself' and 'had turned a corner' during these sessions, reflecting a period of sobriety and dedication to music. Sources have indicated that Payne's family, including his father Geoff and sisters Ruth and Nicola, are in discussions about releasing select tracks from the albums alongside the Netflix series Building The Band, which features Payne in a mentoring role. However, no decision has been finalised. Nicola Payne expressed her feelings in a post, stating that watching the series 'has given me a way to feel close to you.' Payne's estate, valued at £24.3 million, will go to his son Bear, with singer Cheryl Tweedy named as one of the executors. As fans continue to share tributes, Payne's family is balancing public interest with privacy while considering how to honour his legacy.

Overwatch 2 director says Blizzard is interested in a TV series

Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller has stated that Blizzard is interested in producing a TV series for the game and bringing back animated shorts. Keller shared these comments while speaking with Twitch streamer Jay3, where he discussed the future of Overwatch 2's story following the cancellation of its PvE content. Keller said the team would 'love to do that' when asked about a potential TV series for Overwatch 2. He also noted, 'Even more than just a TV series, one of the things we see or hear our players talk about is Overwatch has dropped the ball when it comes to story and lore.' Blizzard previously released animated shorts to introduce heroes and expand the game's universe before the launch of the first Overwatch. While Overwatch 2 has had some shorts, they have been less frequent, and Keller expressed a desire to increase their presence. 'For me, personally, for us to say that Overwatch 2 is firing on all cylinders, we need to have some of those [shorts] come back,' Keller said during the discussion. Reports cited by journalist Jason Schreier have indicated that an Overwatch TV series was previously in development along with series for Warcraft and Diablo, but plans were cancelled following legal disputes between Blizzard and Netflix.
