TV actor
Sheel Verma
, who currently plays Jaiveer in the show Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain, talks about playing a double role in the show.
Transitioning from the intense and brooding Jaiveer to the light-hearted and quirky Bablu.
While the actor had been portraying Jaiveer since the show's inception, the latest track introduces Bablu — a street-smart thief with a heart of gold.
He says, 'My role of Jaiveer is quite royal, he is a gentleman and very focused. But now Bablu is a complete contrast, he is funny, a follower of Lord Hanuman. Bablu, though a thief by profession (a trade he learned from his mother), is driven by kindness. He can't see anyone sad.
He's a mumma's boy, good at heart and always ready with a witty one-liner.'
The actor revealed that for now, Jaiveer's track has been put on hold, with Bablu stepping into the narrative. 'Even I don't know what the future holds. The show is full of suspense. For now, the family thinks Jaiveer is dead. Rest it depends on the audience and their reaction upon bablu,' he explained.
When asked if playing two characters is a challenge, he said, 'Not at all. An actor is always up for new roles. Playing two different roles in the same show has been fun. Bablu brings a new energy, and I'm enjoying it — no stress like Jaiveer, who was dealing with heartbreak.'
He has been part of projects like Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey, Le Chalu Apan Duari, Shree Ramayan Katha and Meri Maa Karma.

Women poets illuminate Metaphor Circle

Lucknow: With verses that pierced the silence and evoked heartfelt applause, Major Ankita Tewari of the Indian Armed Forces set the tone for the inaugural Metaphor Reading Circle, a monthly literary initiative under the banner of Metaphor Lucknow Litfest on Saturday. Her poems 'Nirbhaya ki Nirasha' and 'Jai Veer' explored two deeply resonant themes, the lingering trauma of gender-based violence and the unwavering spirit of Indian soldiers. Tewari's performance was both a cry for justice and a salute to courage, proving that poetry still holds the power to provoke, heal, and awaken. The evening continued with five more compelling female voices. Shruti Mishra recited Kamala Das' 'Introduction', along with her original works such as 'I Dare to Fly and Chaos of Silence'. Akansha Pandey presented Rabindranath Tagore's 'Freedom' and her poem 'The Dark Horse'. Aditi Singh shared 'Trapped' by Sanjukta Das Gupta and her own compositions, 'Kahani' and 'Maa'. Smriti Sneha brought emotional gravity with AK Ramanujan's 'River' and her poem 'Currency of Guilt'. Toshani contributed her poem 'Likh Leti Hoon' and a short story 'Ped ka Patta'. The session was moderated by poet and RMLNLU English faculty Alka Singh, who also recited her piece 'Certificate'. The Reading Circle, to be held monthly until the Metaphor Litfest in Dec, promises to create a space for honest reflection, deep reading, and shared dialogue, where every voice is heard and every word matters.

'Main hi Prem hoon kya?': Rohit Mehta on the hilarious confusion around his character's name in Divya Prem

Rohit Mehta Rohit Mehta , who has been part of shows like Yeh Hai Chahatein and Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey, is currently seen as Gajendra in Divya Prem: Pyaar aur Rahasya Ki Kahaani. In the show, he plays the younger brother in the family and the beloved chacha of the male lead, Prem (played by Suraj Pratap Singh). Speaking about his role, he says, 'Gajendra is a layered character. While he loves his family, he's also human, emotional, and sometimes vulnerable to outside influence. At times, swayed by his wife Malini, he finds himself at a crossroads, caught between loyalty and manipulation. The creative team has hinted at many shades of Gajendra that will unfold as the story progresses, and I'm excited to explore them.' His previous characters — Jagdish in Yeh Hai Chahatein and Pratyush in Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey — were grounded in family drama and realism. With Divya Prem, he steps into the world of fantasy and the supernatural. 'After working in family dramas, this is my first time doing a show that blends supernatural powers, fantasy, thrill, and mystery. It's an exciting challenge as an actor to explore such a unique genre,' he shares. Ask him about a memorable moment from the show, and Rohit bursts into laughter. 'When I got selected for Divya Prem, our casting director Asad Shaikh told me the character's name was Prem chacha. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo After about a month, the EP called and said, 'Sir, your shoot starts in two days.' I asked for the script and received ten full episodes. Excitedly, I sat down to read,' he recalls. He adds, 'There were lines like 'Prem chacha akhada ki competition ke liye jaa rahe hain' and 'Prem chacha full style mein entry maar rahe hain'. I thought, 'Wah! Yeh toh hero-level entry hai!' And since the show's name is Divya Prem, I assumed Prem chacha hi toh Prem hai! I called the EP and asked, 'Sir, just confirming... I'm playing Prem, right?' He replied, 'Arre sir, aap Prem ke chacha ho... not Prem.' I couldn't stop laughing. All my heroic dreams vanished instantly.' But the final twist came on the day of the shoot. 'I received the final script and saw that my character's name wasn't even Prem chacha — it was just Gajendra! That's when I realised I had to build this character from scratch. No matter the name, the responsibility to bring him alive rests with the actor, and I took that challenge seriously,' he concludes.

Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain actress Ishita Ganguly on Father's Day: A Father's love is unspoken but unconditional

Fathers are the ones who stay strong, even when they're tired. They carry our worries without ever showing it and though they may not always say 'I love you,' they express it through every quiet act of care, protection, and support. Behind each gesture is a heart full of love, doing everything to keep the family safe and happy. On the occasion of Father's Day, actress Ishita Ganguly , who plays the role of Chamkili in 'Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain', shared heartfelt memories of her father and spoke about his importance in her life. Ishita Shared, 'My father has always been the biggest supporter in my life. Without saying much, he does so much for me every single day. For me, he isn't just my dad, he's my superhero. I still remember how he used to drop me to school every morning with a smile. Whenever I liked something, he would bring it for me without me even asking. He always knew what I needed, even before I said a word. His presence makes everything feel safe and easy like he is always there to protect me no matter what. ' She further added, 'He has never asked for anything in return. A father's love is unspoken but unconditional. Silently, he's sacrificed his own dreams just to see me happy. He may not always express his emotions, but I know his love for me is the deepest. Whether it was staying up late to help me study or saving money just to get me something I loved, his care shows in all the little things he does. My father is truly a blessing in my life — he gives me strength, love and the confidence to face the world. This year, I'll be busy shooting for 'Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain', but I'll still make sure to take time for my father and make him feel as special as he always makes me feel.'
