Rohit Mehta
, who has been part of shows like Yeh Hai Chahatein and Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey, is currently seen as Gajendra in Divya Prem: Pyaar aur Rahasya Ki Kahaani. In the show, he plays the younger brother in the family and the beloved chacha of the male lead, Prem (played by Suraj Pratap Singh).
Speaking about his role, he says, 'Gajendra is a layered character. While he loves his family, he's also human, emotional, and sometimes vulnerable to outside influence. At times, swayed by his wife Malini, he finds himself at a crossroads, caught between loyalty and manipulation. The creative team has hinted at many shades of Gajendra that will unfold as the story progresses, and I'm excited to explore them.'
His previous characters — Jagdish in Yeh Hai Chahatein and Pratyush in Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey — were grounded in family drama and realism.
With Divya Prem, he steps into the world of fantasy and the supernatural. 'After working in family dramas, this is my first time doing a show that blends supernatural powers, fantasy, thrill, and mystery. It's an exciting challenge as an actor to explore such a unique genre,' he shares.
Ask him about a memorable moment from the show, and Rohit bursts into laughter. 'When I got selected for Divya Prem, our casting director Asad Shaikh told me the character's name was Prem chacha.

But the final twist came on the day of the shoot. 'I received the final script and saw that my character's name wasn't even Prem chacha — it was just Gajendra! That's when I realised I had to build this character from scratch. No matter the name, the responsibility to bring him alive rests with the actor, and I took that challenge seriously,' he concludes.
