Drake cancels Australia and New Zealand tour dates

Express Tribune6 days ago
Drake has officially canceled his postponed concerts in Australia and New Zealand, disappointing fans who had been awaiting new dates since the initial delays earlier this year. The affected shows, which were part of his Anita Max Win Tour, had originally been scheduled for March but were previously postponed due to what was described as a 'scheduling conflict.'
According to a statement released by Live Nation Australia on Tuesday, the concerts in Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland will no longer go ahead. 'Live Nation Australia regrets to inform you that the previously postponed Drake shows in Australia and New Zealand have now been officially cancelled,' the company said on its website. 'Despite extensive efforts to find a solution, rescheduling within the necessary timeframe was not possible. Drake remains committed to returning and performing these shows when his schedule permits.'
The Canadian rapper had already completed performances in several Australian cities, including Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, back in February. However, the planned second leg of the tour has now been scrapped entirely. Full refunds will be issued to all ticket holders.
Drake has yet to make a personal statement regarding the cancellation. He is currently continuing his Some Special Shows 4 U tour with fellow artist PartyNextDoor, with the next concert set for Wednesday night in Amsterdam.
Fans across Australia and New Zealand expressed frustration online over the lack of direct communication from Drake and the long wait for updates. Despite the setback, many remain hopeful he will eventually return for a future leg of the tour.

Orlando Bloom responds with humour to a spoof linking him to Angela Merkel amid Katy Perry and Trudeau buzz.

Orlando Bloom has reacted with humour to a viral satirical post following his ex-fiancée Katy Perry's public outing with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. As rumours swirl about a possible relationship between Perry and Trudeau, Bloom found himself the subject of parody after a comedic news post linked him to former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The satirical post from The Onion joked: 'Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Angela kept Orlando laughing all night — he couldn't keep his eyes off her!' The fictional scene described the pair enjoying oysters, wine, and chocolate cake at a Michelin-starred restaurant. In response, Bloom commented on the post with a series of clapping hands emojis, showing amusement at the unexpected pairing and public reaction. The playful comment came shortly after Perry and Trudeau were seen dining together in Montreal on July 28, 2025. According to reports, they visited several locations, including Mount Royal Park, Le Violon, and Taverne Atlantic Terrace. Their public appearance continued the next day when Trudeau attended Perry's concert with his daughter Ella-Grace, visibly enjoying the show from the front row. While sources claimed the pair are 'just friends,' the sightings sparked widespread speculation online. Perry and Bloom ended their relationship in July 2025 after years of an on-and-off romance that began in 2016. They share a daughter, Daisy, and have publicly committed to co-parenting following their split.

Justin Trudeau intensifies dating rumours with Katy Perry after Montreal concert appearance

Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has sparked dating rumors with pop star Katy Perry after the two were seen dining together in Montreal and later attending her concert in the city. The speculation follows several videos posted by concertgoers showing Trudeau enthusiastically singing along to Perry's hit song 'Firework' during her Lifetimes tour stop over the weekend. The viral footage, originally posted by TikTok user @avocado6713, shows Trudeau fully immersed in the performance, leading many to joke that he may be a 'secret KatyCat,' referring to the nickname for Perry's devoted fanbase. Though neither party has issued a public statement about their relationship status, the internet has been quick to speculate. Perry is currently separated from actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a child, while Trudeau finalized his divorce from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in early 2024. Their recent public appearances have fueled curiosity about whether their connection is romantic or simply friendly. Despite the unexpected nature of the pairing, cultural observers have noted some surprising similarities between the two. As pointed out by Joan Summers in a piece for Vulture, both Trudeau and Perry have faced past criticism over cultural appropriation and have become recurring figures in viral media coverage—from BuzzFeed listicles to meme culture. While it remains unclear whether this is a budding relationship or just an amusing coincidence, their sightings in Montreal have undeniably placed them at the center of pop culture chatter.

Dom Dolla makes Lollapalooza history after last-minute flight rescue from Ibiza

Dom Dolla broke Lollapalooza records this weekend, but only after a last-minute dash from Ibiza that nearly derailed his historic set. The Australian producer was stranded after a flight cancellation, until festival organisers arranged a private jet to get him to Chicago. 'I'm f***ing stressed,' he posted on Instagram, later adding, 'Okay, never mind. Thank you Lollapalooza for saving my ass. I'll see you in nine hours.' During the flight, he shared clips enjoying Vegemite toast and convincing airline crew to try it, captioning the moment, 'Making strangers try Vegemite: episode one.' Once in Chicago, he delivered a crowd-thrilling performance that broke stage attendance records. 'Lollapalooza just told me it was the biggest crowd they've ever had at the stage in the festival's history… f***ing hell,' he wrote, later titling the experience 'Dollapalooza.' The set adds to Dolla's monumental year. He's sold out Madison Square Garden, broken records in Australia, and won the Global Award at the 2025 Rolling Stone Australia Awards. He also appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone AU/NZ, where he discussed perfectionism and the demands of DJ life. 'I wish there were 36 hours in a day and there were 10 days a week,' he said, wishing he could tour and write simultaneously.
