Assam man held for uploading morphed and AI-generated images, videos of influencer
The accused, Pratim Bora, was arrested from upper Assam's Dibrugarh on Saturday evening based on a complaint. He and the victim know each other, the police said.
'We received a complaint that the photos and the videos circulating on social media are morphed and AI-generated. The complainant had shared the link of an Instagram page. We traced its credentials and found a phone number. We learnt that it is the phone number of the arrested accused and he was using it.' Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Sizal Agarwal told the media.
During the course of investigation, the victim had told the police she and the accused studied together at a college. The accused was subsequently arrested.
According to the SP, the accused had created a web page where he uploaded AI-generated pornographic content. Access was subscription-based and through this mode, he made around Rs 10 lakh.
'He did it mostly for personal reasons to cause harassment to the victim,' the SP said, adding, 'As this was widely circulated and covered, her mental state is not good. She will require counselling. We are doing the needful.'

Jaipur: In a shocking incident, a popular social media influencer from Barmer has been arrested for drug trafficking. The accused has been identified as Bhanwari Devi (32), who goes by the name 'Bhavika' on social media and has over 86,000 followers on the social media site Instagram. She was caught carrying a consignment of MDMA drugs while travelling by a state transport bus to Gujarat. Acting on a tip-off, the Sanchore (Jalore) police intercepted the bus at Chitalwana and arrested Bhanwari. Two packets containing 152 grams of MDMA drugs were recovered from her bag. According to police sources, Bhanwari was en route to deliver the consignment to Unjha and Mehsana in Gujarat. She allegedly charged Rs 10,000 per trip for the delivery. Chitalwana Police Station SHO Baldevram confirmed that Bhanwari Devi is a resident of Vankalpura village in the Mahabar area under Barmer's Sadar police station limits. The drug consignment had been handed over to her by a known Barmer-based drug dealer, Chanani Devi. Bhanwari had boarded the bus to Gujarat from Barmer Bus Stand at around noon on Sunday, after travelling from Jaisalmer. Meanwhile, Barmer police received intelligence about the drug movement and alerted the Ramji Ki Gol Chowki post. By the time officers reached there, the bus had already departed. The alert was then passed to Chitalwana police, who successfully intercepted the vehicle. Sources said that upon being caught, Bhanwari made several phone calls to friends and relatives, but none came to her aid. The case has sent shockwaves across Rajasthan, where Bhanwari enjoyed a significant following as an influencer.

The accused, identified as Bhanwari Devi alias Bhavika Choudhary, was caught with 152 grams of MDMA concealed in her laptop bag. Choudhary, a 27-year-old resident of Vankalpura village in Barmer district, is known online by the name 'Bhavika' and has over 85,000 followers on Instagram. She was arrested on Sunday after the police received a tip-off and intercepted the bus in Chitalwana, Jalore district. According to Baldev Ram, Station House Officer of Chitalwana Police Station, the woman had boarded the bus from Barmer Bus Stand after travelling from Jaisalmer. During a routine check, police found two packets of MDMA hidden inside her laptop bag. Initial investigation revealed that the drug consignment was meant to be delivered to locations in Unjha and Mehsana in Gujarat. Choudhary reportedly told police that she had received the package from a woman named Chanani Devi, a known drug supplier in Barmer. She was allegedly paid Rs 10,000 per trip to transport the drugs. The Barmer police had earlier received intelligence about the movement of drugs and alerted the Ramji Ki Gol Chowki checkpoint.
