Taylor Swift snubs Kamala Harris plea, but plays house entertainer for Travis Kelce's NFL frat party
Taylor Swift declined a performance for Kamala Harris's 2024 campaign (Getty Images) Taylor Swift 's political silence has sparked fresh outrage after revelations she rejected a request to perform for Kamala Harris's 2024 campaign — yet gladly sang at Travis Kelce 's Tight End University. While Swift once championed women in leadership, critics now question where her priorities truly lie: ballots or boyfriends? Taylor Swift snubs Kamala Harris campaign but sings for Travis Kelce In a move that's sparking both political backlash and fan praise, Taylor Swift reportedly declined a major request from the Kamala Harris 2024 presidential campaign—while gladly stepping up to perform for her boyfriend Travis Kelce at his Tight End University event. According to revelations from the book 2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America, the pop star was personally approached by Harris's husband, Doug Emhoff, to perform in support of the Harris-Tim Walz ticket during the election season. But despite Emhoff's personal connection—he's reportedly friends with Swift's longtime lawyer, Doug Baldridge—the superstar turned it down. 'Swift proved to be a challenge,' wrote authors Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager, and Isaac Arnsdorf. Although Swift did endorse the Democratic ticket via social media, her refusal to take the stage for a political campaign raised eyebrows, especially when juxtaposed with her musical surprise for Kelce and his guests just weeks later. While Swift was fully booked with her demanding Eras Tour schedule during the 2024 election, she found time to belt out a country version of "Shake It Off" at Kelce's annual Tight End University in Nashville. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Concentrated Siberian Ginseng Extract 2oz Superior Ginseng Undo The intimate performance sent guests into a frenzy and left Swifties fuming online. Videos from the event went viral, with one fan commenting, 'So we spent thousands on Eras Tour tickets and missed this version? Devastated. ' This contrast has reignited debates about Swift's role in political activism. Some argue that the singer has every right to choose her platforms and prioritize personal events over political ones. Others believe her snub sends a message about the limits of her support for progressive politics. What's clearer than ever is that Swift is no longer playing by anyone's rules but her own. She will lend her voice where she sees fit—whether it's to empower millions of fans through lyrics or to serenade a stadium full of NFL stars and their partners. CM Fadnavis backs claim of urban naxal infiltration in Gandhian & democratic institutions
1 2 Nagpur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday backed Wardha legislator Sumit Wankhede's explosive claim that individuals with Maoist leanings had infiltrated Maharashtra's democratic institutions, including Gandhian institutions in Wardha district. "Urban naxals are systematically working to destabilise the country from within. Cadres have entered India's democratic institutions and are creating anarchy. We will probe these organisations and take appropriate action," Fadnavis said during a visit to Nagpur, adding that the newly passed Maharashtra Jan Suraksha Bill is intended to tackle the emerging threat of urban Maoism, while safeguarding free speech and legal protections. Wankhede had alleged that institutions founded on Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence are now being used by those who believe in violent revolution. "This is a serious breach of the ideals they were built upon," the MLA told TOI. Wankhede cited Maoist literature — particularly Tactics and Strategy of the Indian Revolution — which categorises the Maoist network into the party, armed wing, and frontal organisations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why seniors are rushing to get this Internet box – here's why! Techno Mag Learn More Undo "Frontal organisations are the most aggressive. They operate in education, media, and law to mobilise people against the state." He alleged that a few organisations were organising workshops and events that indirectly promoted Maoist ideology. "How can places founded on Gandhi's ideals encourage violent insurgency," he asked. Drawing parallels with campus unrest at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Wankhede warned that similar slogans and sympathies are now surfacing in Maharashtra. "What we saw and heard in JNU, including slogans of 'Bharat tere tukde honge' and praise for Afzal Guru is now being replicated elsewhere," he said. While acknowledging that armed Maoist activity declined in the state, Wankhede warned that urban Maoism was surging, enabled by social media and intellectual backers. "Urban supporters provide funding, logistics, recruits, and even technology. Recently, lathe machines were found in Maoist camps in Abujmarh and these didn't come from abroad. They came from urban suppliers," he said. "These city-based sympathisers are a bigger threat than jungle-based guerrillas. They incite students, tribals, and Dalits by spreading anti-state sentiments," he added. Wankhede said he raised concerns with Fadnavis during the Lok Sabha polls, claiming Maoist sympathisers tried to influence voters against Prime Minister Narendra Modi by spreading a false narrative that the Constitution was under threat.
