'Green Bones,' starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid, has donated its props and set pieces to the Manila City Jail.
On Monday, GMA Pictures shared a video on social media of the Manila City Jail Male Dorm featuring some of the props used in the film, such as wooden bunk beds, tables, and chairs that will now be used by persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
According to SJ01 Melchor Sevellino, the PDLs in the dorm are all senior citizens.
'From reel to real life,' the caption read.
Previously, the Manila City Jail held a special screening of 'Green Bones.'
The film, produced by GMA Pictures, is directed by Zig Dulay based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs.
It follows Domingo Zamora (Dennis Trillo), who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, the newly assigned prison guard (Ruru Madrid) takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what.
On Sunday night, "Green Bones" took home five awards at the 8th Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards (EDDYS Awards), which include: Best Picture, Best Actor for Dennis, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru, Best Director for Dulay, and Best Cinematography for Neil Daza.
It also bagged several awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024, such as Best Picture, Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Angeli Atienza), Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), Best Cinematography (Neil), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens).
Moreover, it won First Best Picture, Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), and Best Director (Direk Zig) at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards.
'Green Bones' is currently streaming on Netflix.

'Avatar: Seven Havens': First look at the Earthbender destined to become the next Avatar

The newest Avatar is here! Avatar Studios has unveiled the first official artwork of "Avatar: Seven Havens," the upcoming sequel series to the classic "Avatar: The Last Airbender." The artwork shows a young Earthbender, who is destined to become the next Avatar after Korra. She is accompanied by a man and an animal in a desert kingdom. According to previous reports, the Earthbender is hunted by both human and spirit enemies in an era where her title marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have returned to create the new series, and described it as "full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters." "Avatar: Seven Havens" is the second sequel to "Avatar: The Last Airbender" after "Avatar: The Legend of Korra." Meanwhile, Netflix recently adapted "Avatar: The Last Airbender" into a live-action series. —JCB, GMA Integrated News

'Wednesday' renewed for Season 3 at Netflix

The spooky adventures of Wednesday Addams will continue at Netflix. On its blog Tudum, the streaming giant announced that the hit show "Wednesday" will be getting a Season 3. The announcement was made ahead of Season 2's release. 'Television has — and always will be — a team sport,' said co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough. '[Co-creator and co-showrunner] Miles [Millar] and I have been doing this long enough to know that shows like this don't come along every day. It's such an alchemy of writing, directing, acting, crew, streamer, studio, and fans." "We remain grateful and excited to continue this journey and tell these stories with all of our partners," he added. Gough said their goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: "To make it the best season of 'Wednesday' we possibly can." 'We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday. We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!' "Wednesday" Season 2 is set to premiere Part 1 on August 6. Part 2 will arrive on September 3. Meanwhile, the first season remains the most-viewed English-language series on Netflix of all time, the streaming platform said. —JCB, GMA Integrated News

Dennis Trillo teaches Kim Ji Soo hilarious Tagalog sentences

Kim Ji Soo enlisted the help of none other than Dennis Trillo to teach him some Tagalog! On TikTok, the South Korean actor posted a video of their lesson. 'Today, I'm learning Tagalog acting with great actor, Dennis Trillo,' he said. Dennis said he wrote several funny lines for them to try out. The Kapuso Drama King recited the lines first, and Ji Soo did his best to copy each one. The lines include, 'Ang baho! Sinong umutot?', 'Pakiusap! Ibalik mo ang salawal ko,' and 'Parang awa mo na, magsipilyo ka naman.' Amused netizens jokingly commented, "Jisoo, parang away mo na, lumayo ka kay Dennis." Ji Soo is a guest star on 'Sanggang Dikit FR' starring Dennis and Jennylyn Mercado. He calls his character 'totally a bad guy.' "Sanggang Dikit FR" follows Sgt. Bobby Enriquez (Jennylyn) and Lt. Tonyo Conde (Dennis). After having experienced personal losses, the two police officers are brought together when a high-profile murder happens involving people close to them. The show recently filmed scenes in Europe and the United Arab Emirates. Catch "Sanggang Dikit FR" from Mondays to Fridays at 8:50 p.m. on GMA Prime. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
