Taylor Fritz is one win away from his first trip to the Wimbledon semifinals, again.
Fritz, who has been to the quarterfinals at the All England Club on two other occasions, is a -330 favorite to beat World No. 20 Karen Khachanov in the first match on Tuesday morning.
Fritz has caught a couple of breaks to get to this point, but he's had a tricky path that's included a couple of powerful servers and the fiery Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina.
The American is a deserving favorite over Khachanov, but overlook the Russian at your own risk.
Taylor Fritz vs. Karen Khachanov prediction
According to the ATP Tour's metrics, Fritz boasts the fourth-best serve in the sport, and he owns the second-best percentage of service games won behind Jannik Sinner.
The 27-year-old has worked on getting the rest of his game to a point where he's not too reliant on his serve, but it's still pretty clear how the California native wants this match to go. He wants to hit through Khachanov and then steal a break at some point.

That tactic can work against almost anybody on the ATP Tour if Fritz is at his best, but if he's off, it becomes a little dubious versus a player with Khachanov's defensive skills.
Khachanov grades out as the 18th-best return player on the ATP, and he has broken his opponent's serve in 22.8 percent of games over the last 52 weeks, which is also the 18th-best mark on the circuit in that span.
Although his serve pales in comparison to Fritz's, Khachanov still ranks inside the top 30, so it's not like he's an easy player to break.
Wimbledon: Fritz vs. Khachanov pick
Khachanov's real advantage in this match is his fitness.
Khachanov is a threat to go deep in any Grand Slam because he is a relentless competitor who seemingly can maintain his level through five sets. His career is littered with thrilling matches that went the distance.
If he can stay with Fritz in the early going and not get overwhelmed by the American's serve, he has every chance of getting to another semifinal at a Grand Slam.
The Play: Khachanov +260 (bet365)

As the #19 seed, Dimitrov was poised to pull off the likely upset of the tournament if Sinner wasn't able to battle back. That's when the injury happened, after he delivered yet another ace. And that interrupted what was shaping up to be an inspiring story arc for the 34-year-old. It was not immediately clear whether Dimitrov would be able to continue the match, but pretty quickly the sad ending unfolded, and Dimitrov retired from the match. 'This Definitely Sucks': Coco Gauff Didn't Hide Her Feelings After Wimbledon Heartbreak

'This Definitely Sucks': Coco Gauff Didn't Hide Her Feelings After Wimbledon Heartbreak originally appeared on Athlon Sports. World No. 2 Coco Gauff has admitted how deeply her first-round Wimbledon exit stung, revealing she was left struggling emotionally after her shocking defeat on Tuesday. Advertisement Just weeks after winning her second Grand Slam title at the French Open, Gauff was expected to make a strong run at Wimbledon. Instead, she fell 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 to Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska in a match lasting just 79 minutes. 'After the match, I definitely was struggling in the locker room. I don't like losing. I just feel a little bit disappointed in how I showed up today. This definitely sucks,' Gauff confessed. The 21-year-old tennis star could not hide her frustration at how quickly her tournament ended. The loss marks her earliest exit at a Grand Slam since falling in the first round at Wimbledon last year. From the beginning, Gauff appeared uncomfortable on the grass, committing nine double-faults and racking up 29 unforced errors. Although she showed flashes of her powerful baseline game, it wasn't enough to stop Yastremska's relentless hitting. Advertisement Grass has long been a surface that challenges Gauff, who has yet to advance beyond the fourth round in six trips to Wimbledon. Though her run to the fourth round as a 15-year-old in 2019 made her a global star, repeating that kind of performance on grass has proved difficult. 'Dayana played great,' Gauff said, giving credit to her opponent. 'I felt like I wasn't playing terribly in some points, and she was hitting winners.' Gauff shared that coming off her French Open win left her feeling drained, making it hard to transition to grass-court tennis in time for Wimbledon. I don't feel like I had enough time to celebrate and also get back in it,' she explained. Advertisement Yastremska, ranked 42nd in the world, expressed admiration for Gauff and her talent but was thrilled with her upset victory. 'Playing against Coco is something special. She's a great player, a great person,' she said. While Gauff's Wimbledon dream is over for this year, she's determined not to let this loss define her season. With the US Open coming up, the American star will look to reset, train hard and learn from this disappointment.
