659 Agniveers graduate out of MLIRC in Belagavi
As many as 659 Agniveers passed out of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) in Belagavi on Thursday.
The fifth batch of Agniveer under the Agnipath scheme witnessed the culmination of training. A ceremonial attestation parade with full military traditions was organised at MLIRC.
As many as 659 Agniveers were attested after their successful completion of 31 weeks of training.
The attestation parade of the Agniveers was reviewed by Commandant of MLIRC Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee who applauded the Agniveers for their immaculate turnout and very high standards of drill.
The parade was commanded by Agniveer Gajanan Rathod, while Lt. Col. Digvijay Singh was the parade adjutant.
The Agniveers took the Oath of Affirmation in presence of the national flag, the regimental flag and holy religious books in an impressive ceremony witnessed by parents of the Agniveers, serving and retired fraternity of the regiment, dignitaries of Belagavi, cadets of NCC and the young students of various schools.
The pride with which the Agniveers took oath made the ceremony even more impressive.
Addressing the newly attested Agniveers, the reviewing officer reminded them of the rich heritage and the glory of MLIRC as one of the oldest Infantry regiments of the Indian Army.
He also stressed upon the importance of discipline and physical fitness in a soldier's life. He exuded the confidence in the training given at the Regimental Centre and said that it will stand the young soldiers in good stead before wishing them the very best in their future assignments.
The reviewing officer also awarded medals to meritorious Agniveers for excelling in different spheres of training.
Naik Yashwant Ghadge Victoria Cross Medal for overall Best Agniveer was awarded to Agniveer Kaple Krishnat.
The attestation parade concluded with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Sharqat War Memorial to pay respects to the bravehearts of the regiment by the reviewing officer and the Agniveers.
The proud parents of the Agniveers were also felicitated with Gaurav Padak to honor them for motivating their wards to serve the nation, according to a release.

The total assessment will be of 1000 marks, which must be completed and entered into the data sheet three months prior to the Agniveers completing their four-year service and leaving for home. Considering the unique conditions of units deployed in remote, high-altitude areas (above 12,000 feet), including Drass, Siachen, and Kargil, the assessment process allows them to be attached to the nearest Corps Battle Schools, rear units, or other regimental centres. To ensure sanctity, fairness, and transparency, the Indian Army's Adjutant General Branch in New Delhi has appointed a Competent Authority to grant any waivers. The Adjutant General Branch oversees manpower, human resources, and administrative support for the force. It is important to note that the first batch of Agniveers will exit their units in January 2027 after completing their four-year service. Before leaving for home, all Agniveers must undergo a release medical board to assess their medical condition. Selected Agniveers, sources said, will be informed within seven days of exiting their units and must report back to their respective regimental centres within 30 days. A grace period of about a week will also be given. Failure to report within the stipulated time will be considered as unwillingness to continue, and the next person on the merit list will be upgraded. Permanent retention of Agniveers will be based on Arm and Service-specific trades and fields. "There will be a separate merit list for each trade." Each Arm and Service has its own set of trades under which Agniveers serve.

Mother of pilot killed in Uttarakhand helicopter crash dies on his 'terahvi'
Mother of Rajveer Singh Chauhan, the pilot who lost his life in the recent Uttarakhand helicopter crash, died on the day of his 'terahvi' (thirteenth-day ritual) after suffering a heart attack. Vijay Laxmi Chauhan could not bear the shock of losing her son and died at their home in Jaipur's Shastri members said she had been deeply distressed since the accident and her health worsened rapidly after the final rites for her son.
