Senior officer inspects operational readiness, training standards at MLIRC Belagavi
General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area of the Indian Army, Lieutenant General K.S. Brar visited the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Belagavi recently. During the visit, he inspected the operational readiness and training standards of the Regimental Centre. He was briefed about the substantial strides made in enhancing training and administrative infrastructure, particularly in the context of Agniveer training. He observed training sessions and lauded the centre's unwavering commitment to excellence. He emphasised the importance of integrating cutting-edge technology into training from the foundational stages itself to ensure that soldiers are future-ready and capable of adapting to the evolving battlefield dynamics. Accompanied by Station Commander Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, he visited various station units of the garrison to assess the overall functional synergy and readiness. During his visit to the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic, he interacted with veterans, acknowledging their invaluable service and reaffirming the Army's continued commitment to their welfare. He also visited the Army Public School where he felicitated students who had excelled in sports at various levels, appreciating their achievements and encouraging them to continue striving for excellence. As part of his visit, he also inaugurated the newly established Outpatient Department (OPD) section at the Military Hospital in Belagavi, marking a significant step towards enhancing medical facilities for serving personnel, veterans and their families, said a release.

Yoga day celebrated at MLIRC
The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) celebrated International Yoga Day with week-long activities. MLIRC officers, personnel and their families participated in various activities. The event commenced with an inaugural address by Commandant of MLIRC Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee who emphasised the growing relevance of Yoga as a sustainable health practice that enhances both individual resilience and collective harmony. He underscored the 2025 theme, 'One Earth, One Health', which resonates deeply with the Army's ethos of self-discipline, balance and unity with nature. Soldiers, families and school children of APS Belagavi participated in large numbers, demonstrating their commitment to wellness. The week-long celebrations included a diverse array of practices such as Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and Guided Meditation, which not only introduced participants to the foundational elements of Yoga but also equipped them with practical tools to manage stress, enhance mental clarity and build emotional resilience. The Indian Army continues to champion health and wellness initiatives that strengthen the mind and body of its personnel and their families. Attestation parade of fifth Agniveer batch of MLIRC in Belagavi held
Belagavi: The fifth batch of Agniveer under the Agnipath scheme witnessed the culmination of training on Thursday. On this occasion, a ceremonial attestation parade with full military traditions was held at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC), Belagavi. The attestation parade of the Agniveers was reviewed by Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, commandant of the MLIRC, who applauded the Agniveers for their immaculate turnout and very high standards of drill. The parade was commanded by Agniveer Gajanan Rathod, while Lt Col Digvijay Singh was the parade adjutant. The Agniveers took the Oath of Affirmation in the presence of the national flag, the regimental flag, and religious holy books in an impressive ceremony witnessed by their parents, serving and retired fraternity of the regiment, dignitaries of Belagavi, cadets of NCC, and the young students of various schools. The pride with which the Agniveers took the oath made the ceremony even more impressive. Addressing the newly attested Agniveers, the reviewing officer reminded them of the rich heritage and the glory of the Maratha Light Infantry, as one of the oldest infantry regiments of the . He also stressed the importance of discipline and physical fitness in a soldier's life. He exuded confidence in the training conducted at the regimental centre and assured that it would stand the young soldiers in good stead before wishing them the very best in their future assignments. The reviewing officer also awarded medals to the meritorious Agniveers for excelling in different spheres of training. Naik Yashwant Ghadge, Victoria Cross Medal for overall best Agniveer, was awarded to Agniveer Kaple Krishnat. The attestation parade concluded with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Sharqat War Memorial, to pay respect to the brave hearts of the regiment by the reviewing officer and the Agniveers. The proud parents were also felicitated with the Gaurav Padak to honour them for motivating their wards to serve the nation.
