British couple 'tried to smuggle £1,000,000 of cannabis into UK from Thailand'
Daniel McDonald, 36, and Sian Warren, 34, were detained after landing at Heathrow Airport on May 27.
Four of their cases are said to have been packed with 51kg of cannabis.
The pair, from Salford in Greater Manchester, were charged with importing class B drugs and appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates Court last week.
They were bailed and will next appear at Isleworth Crown Court on June 26.
The couple had been on a dream holiday in Asia, Sian's dad Tony said.
He told the Sun his daughter 'has not brought anything back, definitely not', adding: 'She had her own suitcases with clothes in it.'
Theirs is the latest in a series of high-profile cases concerning Brits accused of smuggling drugs overseas.
Bella May Culley faces a maximum sentence of 20 years or life imprisonment in Georgia if she is convicted over a cannabis haul worth £200,000.
Her case was followed by that of Charlotte May Lee, 21, who is currently in prison in Sri Lanka, also accused of trying to run the drug out of Thailand. More Trending
The former cabin crew worker, from Coulsdon, south London is accused of attempting to smuggle 101lb (46kg) of synthetic kush worth £1.2 million in two suitcases.
Last month, a British couple were arrested in Spain after 32kg of cannabis was discovered in two suitcases.
Hours later, an electrician from Cumbria narrowly escaped a death sentence in Bali after initial drug trafficking charges against him were dropped, and instead replaced with hiding information from the authorities.
A British pensioner was also arrested in Chile after allegedly attempting to smuggle five kilos of methamphetamine.

Missing British tourist vanishes from sunbed next to husband as concern grows

Michele Ann Joy Bourda, 59, was last seen on a sunbed on Friday August 1 at Ofryni beach, Kavala in Greece. Her husband is said to have been asleep when she disappeared. He woke up to find her missing, with her belongings still on the beach, reports the Mirror. The alarm was then raised by her concerned family, according to Greek missing persons charity Lifeline Hellas, who put out a Silver Alert after police were unable to locate her. An alert from the charity read: "Her life is in danger. If you know anything, contact the Silver Alert service, 24 hours a day, at the National SOS Line 1065." Greece's Hellenic Coast Guard have launched a search operation at sea and they are investigating the reports that her belongings were left on the beach. It is reported that three recreational craft, five fishing boats as well as two patrol boats have been involved in looking for Ms Bourda. Michele is described as having straight blonde hair down to her shoulders, hazel eyes, is 1.73m (5ft 6in) tall and is thin. On the day she disappeared, she was wearing a two-piece swimsuit with rhinestones, yellow beach shoes and red sunglasses. She was apparently seen swimming at around 12pm. And the investigation is now understood to have been extended with fears for her life. A source told The Sun: "We are giving it our all. There are still no signs as to whether she went missing on land or sea but right now there are no plans either to end this search. "We are not at that stage." They added: "Michele is a British citizen who likely also had a home in the UK. There are coast guard boats and private boats out looking for her." The beach near where she disappeared is surrounded by vegetation, houses and a large reservoir. Ms Bourda is understood to live with her Greek husband in Serres, Macedonia. The British embassy in Greece shared a notice on Facebook which read: 'Michele Ann BOURDA went missing on 01/08/2025 at the beach of Ofrynio in Kavala. Oasis concert death: Man dies at Wembley show after fall
Officers found the man, in his 40s, "with injuries consistent with a fall," according to a statement provided to USA TODAY Aug. 4. He was pronounced dead at the scene. "We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night," the band said in a statement Aug. 3. "Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved." Police also asked for people with any additional information about the incident to come forward. "The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage," the statement added. A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said the concert, a part of the British rock band's highly anticipated reunion tour, "went ahead as planned." Brit model Chloe Ayling poses heartbreaking 13-word question after kidnap ordeal
Chloe Ayling, from Croydon, south London, was grabbed from behind and bundled into a suitcase during her kidnapping in Milan, where she'd travelled for a bogus modelling job A British model kidnapped by a thug begged to know what made her story "so unbelievable" in a poignant documentary last night. Staring directly into the camera, Chloe Ayling asked: "What is it about me and my story that makes this so unbelievable?" at the start of the BBC programme Chloe Ayling: My Unbelievable Kidnapping. She led with the question because the documentary later told the audience people still don't believe her - eight years on. But that is despite the jail sentence of Lukasz Herba, a 30-year-old Polish computer programmer from Oldbury, West Midlands, who had drugged, kidnapped and driven Chloe 120 miles to a remote farmhouse near Turin, where she was held hostage for one week. The documentary comes after a man brutally killed a woman on their first date and left her body parts around a town. The show highlighted how Chloe, then 20, was dismissed as a money-grabber who wanted only to be famous. She was encouraged by her agent to go to Milan for a modelling job, but this was actually fake and a lure by Herba to entrap Chloe. Herba was primed to grab the glamour model from behind and bundle her into a suitcase. Injected with ketamine and chained to furniture, she was forced to sleep on the floor of a remote farmhouse. Photographs of her lying unconscious in skimpy clothing were sent to her manager in London, along with a demand for €300,000 (£260,000). If the ransom wasn't paid within a week, she would be auctioned off as a sex slave. Although she was eventually released, Chloe faced another battle to rebuild her life because many didn't believe her graphic and appalling story. Recalling her childhood, Chloe, now 28, said in the documentary: "I had a lot of difficulties with communication... I'd react in the wrong way. If I was being told off I would smile. I just had the wrong reactions to things." The model, from Croydon, south London, told how she has since been diagnosed with autism, something she believes explains so much – not just about her reactions during her kidnap ordeal, but about her life before and since. In the TV show last night, the mum continued: "Autism plays a big part in the way that I reacted, and that was confusing to neurotypical people... People disassociate with events that have happened or have a delayed reaction, especially after trauma. So, it can't all be put down to a diagnosis, and that shouldn't affect the way people treated me."
