Knicks offer coaching job to Mike Brown and are working on a deal, AP source says
Brown would replace Tom Thibodeau, who was fired last month despite leading the Knicks to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years.
He had his second interview with the Knicks on Tuesday before the job was offered, the person told The Associated Press.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the search were to remain private.
The plan to hire Brown was first reported by ESPN.
Brown earned his second award as the NBA's top coach after leading Sacramento to the playoffs in 2022-23, but the Kings fired him nearly halfway through last season.

Mize, Torkelson lead Tigers to 1-0 win over Guardians
CLEVELAND (AP) — Casey Mize threw seven innings of four-hit ball, Spencer Torkelson homered and the Detroit Tigers dealt the Cleveland Guardians their ninth straight loss, 1-0 on Saturday night. It is the fifth time during the Guardians' skid they have not scored a run. It was the 11th time this season they have been shut out, tied with Pittsburgh for most in the majors. It is the third time Mize (9-2) has gone seven innings in 15 starts this season. The right-hander walked two and struck out four as he won for the third time in his last four starts. Detroit was held to two hits by four Cleveland pitchers. Torkelson's 20th homer of the season to lead off the second inning was enough, though. Torkelson drove a fastball from starter Logan Allen (5-7) just over the wall in right-center. It is the first time since 1993 that two Detroit players have hit at least 20 homers before the All-Star break. Riley Greene leads Detroit with 21. Allen allowed one run on two hits in six innings. The left-hander retired the last sevenhitters he faced. It was Detroit's 10th shutout, tied for second-most. Farrell: Waratahs may have over-watered pitch to hinder Lions
SYDNEY (AP) — British and Irish Lions coach Andy Farrell has suggested the New South Wales Waratahs may have deliberately over-watered the pitch at Sydney's Allianz Stadium ahead of Saturday's match in which the tourists struggled to a 21-10 win. The Lions kept their unbeaten record but produced their least impressive performance so far against a Waratahs team stripped of most of its Wallabies. Farrell implied the pitch had been watered to disadvantage the Lions at a post-match news conference. Despite winning 62 percent of possession and 70 percent of territory, the Lions stumbled to a three tries to two win amid a flurry of handling errors. Coastal areas of New South Wales state, including Sydney, had been hit by a 'bomb cyclone' in the week before the match which brought torrential rain and high winds. Edmonton (0-3) will make another attempt at its first win of the year Sunday night when it hosts the Ottawa Redblacks. The Elks nearly stunned Winnipeg on the road June 27 but gave up an unlikely 13-yard rushing touchdown to veteran quarterback Zach Collaros with 5:42 left that sealed a 36-23 loss. 'We've gotten better three weeks in a row but it's about winning and it's about doing the things that we need to get better to be on the other side of this result,' said first-year Edmonton coach Mark Kilam. Wasted in the loss was a solid performance from quarterback Tre Ford, who was 18 of 29 for 252 yards and a touchdown.
