In April they embarked on the UK leg of their farewell tour, Torvill And Dean: Our Last Dance, which culminated with four performances in their home town of Nottingham.
Following their final performance together, Dean, 66, said: 'The performance went well and the audience were amazing and so, for us, to be able to bow out on a high like that was wonderful.'
Asked if it had been emotional, Dean said: 'These last four performances here in Nottingham, the early ones were quite emotional and I think I sort of got that out of me, and tonight, it was a high.
'We enjoyed it so much. The skating was good from our point of view, but the audience were phenomenal. They were the best audience ever.'
Torvill, 67, said: 'I think we'll miss it.
'When you've done all these shows like this, and you're suddenly home, not doing anything, you miss that adrenaline rush and you miss the excitement of being on the ice, whether it's a practice session or a performance.'
Torvill promised they would be working on other projects but said they will not be skating on the ice together.
The duo secured an Olympic gold in 1984 with their ice dance to Ravel's Bolero at the Zetra Olympic Hall in Sarajevo.
They also had success at the World, European and British Championships and returned to the Winter Games at Lillehammer in Norway in 1994 where they won bronze.
After they bowed out from competitive skating they branched out into touring, coaching and choreographing before becoming the faces of celebrity competition show Dancing On Ice, which ran from 2006 until 2014.
When the show was revived in 2018 they became head judges until earlier this year when ITV announced it would be rested.
Their farewell tour of London, Belfast, Sheffield, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow included a team of professional figure skaters, some of whom have featured on Dancing On Ice.

'I knew when I made this 10th album I wanted to not just do the UK again but go back to Australia where the whole thing started,' she said. Furthermore, the singer's desire to tour Australia was fuelled by a trip down memory lane after she stumbled upon old Super 8 footage of the good old days. 'I found a lot of Australian footage, especially film we captured in Melbourne, and I remember there were riot police on horses and people in the street and this one girl who screams: "They're bigger than the Beatles,"' she told the publication. During their peak, Transvision Vamp made headlines after Nirvana's Kurt Cobain wore one of their band tees on stage. Kurt donned the iconic shirt repping the group during Nirvana's 1991 US tour, as well as at his iconic MTV performance. Speaking of the moment, Wendy said that it became known as the 'Kurt shirt'. 'He came to quite a few of those shows we did in America in 1991 and he purchased his tour T-shirt and wore it for quite a few of his performances, including the MTV one,' she said. Transvision Vamp is preparing to play a number of shows across Australia in February. They will be kicking off the tour at Brisbane's The Triffid before moving on to The Station on the Sunshine Coast. The band then heads to King Street Bandroom in Newcastle and the Metro Theatre in Sydney. Transvision Vamp next head down to Northcote Theatre in Melbourne and The Gov in Adelaide, before finishing off the tour at Perth's Magnet House. General tickets to the Australian tour go on sale from July 15 at 9am.

The drama intensified last week, when the show's trademark twist, Casa Amor, stirred up even more drama than we expected. Producers also threw in an additional shocking turn, revealing six people were going to be dumped - and not just those left in Casa. But all good things must come to an end - even Love Island. Yep, we hate to break it to you but the show will be coming to an end in a matter of weeks. Here's how long you have left binging your favourite islanders... ITV hasn't officially said when Love Island 2025 will come to an end. However, the rumours suggest the final could be taking place on Monday 4 August - giving us just three weeks left of the on-screen action. This would make sense, given that in previous years, the final has always taken place on a Monday - so be safe, we'd recommend not booking any social plans for those days. Judging by previous years, the final will be broadcast live at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX from the villa. If you can't tune in live, you will also be able to stream it afterwards. The tense final will follow the final four couples, while they wait to find out who has won the public vote - and their share of £50,000. The winners also receive a Love Island water bottle in the post, as well as a covered letter from Mike Spencer-Hayter, who is the show's directer.
