There are plenty of reasons to back the Mets on Tuesday night. They've been dominant at Citi Field this season, boasting a 35-16 home record—second only to the Blue Jays (36 wins). That success is driven by elite pitching; the Mets hold a 3.59 ERA at home, fourth-best in MLB, and opponents are batting just .237 at Citi.
SS Francisco Lindor thrives in front of the home crowd, batting .295 with 12 of his 19 home runs coming there. On the mound, Montas makes just his fifth start of the season, but he knows this Angels lineup well from his years with the A's. He looked sharp in his last outing, a road win in Kansas City.
On the flip side, there's little to fear with Hendricks. He's a serviceable veteran, but his stuff isn't overpowering, and he's been inconsistent all season. This sets up perfectly for New York to take care of business. Expect the Mets to roll again Tuesday night.
Over/Under

Phillies sign first-round pick Gage Wood, Arkansas pitcher who threw CWS no-hitter
The Phillies signed first-round draft pick Gage Wood, the club announced Tuesday. Selected 26th overall in the 2025 MLB Draft, the Arkansas pitcher is best-known for throwing a no-hitter against Murray State in the 2025 College World Series — the event's third-ever no-hitter and first in more than 60 years. He had a perfect game until the eighth, when he hit a batter in the foot. 'I think about it almost every day,' Wood said of the HBP at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday. The right-handed pitcher throws a fastball that reaches 98 mph, sitting at 95-96 mph. The pitch drew the highest whiff rate of any fastball in Division I baseball this season. His curveball sits around 83-85 mph. He also throws a cutter and splitter, which the Phillies envision him using in a starter's four-pitch mix. In 10 starts in 2025, Wood went 4-1 with a 3.82 ERA in 37 2/3 innings. He struck out 69 and walked seven. 'I've been showing (the video) to all my friends, that this place was going bonkers,' Wood said. Christian Moore injury update in returning to Angels
The Angels (49-51) opened their second half of the 2025 regular season with a, 2-1, series win at Philadelphia. Los Angeles is playing a three-game series at the Mets before returning to home for the first time after the MLB All-Star break. Former Vol Christian Moore played 18 games for the Angels during the first half after making his MLB debut on June 13. He was placed on the 10-day injured list July 3 with a left thumb sprain. Los Angeles lists Moore returning in 'possibly late July.' Moore has recorded a .189 batting average, three home runs, eight RBIs, eight runs, 10 hits, 21 total bases, eight walks and 20 strikeouts as a rookie in 2025.
