Orioles' Urías hits go-ahead homer off Weaver in the 8th inning to spoil Yankees reliever's return
Urías snapped a 3-3 tie when he drove a full-count pitch into the right field seats for a 337-foot drive. The ball went over Aaron Judge's leaping try, off a fan's shirt and into the first row of the seats.
Weaver (1-2) returned from missing 17 games with a strained left hamstring and gave up his third homer this season. He gave up two runs and two hits in two-thirds of an inning.
After Weaver exited, Gunnar Henderson's pinch-hit RBI single off Tim Hill put Baltimore up 5-3.
Urías' clutch homer helped the Orioles overcome a big night from Judge, who homered off Baltimore rookie starter Tomoyuki Sugano to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead in the third. Judge finished with three hits, reached four times and his batting average rose five points to .371.
Rookie Coby Mayo hit a tying single in the sixth off Max Fried as the Orioles won for the 14th time in 20 games. Gary Sanchez hit a two-run single against his former team in the first when Fried threw 29 pitches.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit an RBI single and Jasson Domínguez had a sacrifice fly for the Yankees, who finished with 10 hits and lost for the seventh time in eight games.
Fried allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings in his second chance at getting his 10th win.
Sugano allowed three runs and seven hits in a season-low 3 2/3 innings. Scott Blewett (3-0) pitched two scoreless innings and Felix Bautista struck out two in the ninth for his 16th save.

The Yankees nearly scored in the fourth, but DJ LeMahieu was thrown out at the plate on a close play by right fielder Colton Cowser. New York challenged the call by plate umpire Adam Hamari, but it stood after a brief review.

The Minnesota Lynx acquired guard DiJonai Carrington from the Dallas Wings, the teams announced on Sunday. Going to Dallas in exchange are forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson and the Lynx's 2027 second-round draft pick. Minnesota already had the WNBA's best record by a rather significant margin at 24-5, six games ahead of the reigning champion New York Liberty. Now, the Lynx have bolstered their defense by adding Carrington. The five-year veteran was named to the All-Defensive first team last season, in addition to winning the league's Most Improved Player award. This season with the Wings, Carrington averaged 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 20 games. She was Dallas' third-leading scorer behind Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale. If she maintains that production, Carrington will be Minnesota's fourth-leading scorer and rebounder. Carrington, 27, was in her first season with Dallas after playing four years with the Connecticut Sun, who drafted her in the second round of the 2021 WNBA Draft. Last year, she averaged 12.7 points and five rebounds per game on her way to winning Most Improved Player honors while the Sun finished with the WNBA's second-best record at 28-12 before losing the Lynx in the playoff semifinals. Former New England Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton is making an impact in training camp for the Kansas City Chiefs. Fans have been buzzing about his incredible corner end zone reception on a throw from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at a recent practice. Mahomes threw a perfect corner pass behind the defender, and Thornton went up to get the ball, while also making sure to tap both toes inbounds before falling out.
