Goa: Taj Cidade de Goa launches waterproof loungers at its rooftop bar
Vivek Batra, the General Manager of the Goa Taj Hotel, highlighted how the area has been quite iconic, and upgrades were made to the rooftop bar to ensure that rain and monsoon do not interrupt the guest experience.
'Absolutely, you can't get it better, and this is a complete rooftop bar, and to be covered and have this type of a panoramic view, I don't think any place in Goa provides you with this type of a view and this type of experience. So definitely, I'm very, very excited to actually have this new kid on the block,' Batra told ANI on Sunday while highlighting its features.
'DPB has been existing, and it is becoming very iconic. So what we have done is that because of the rain, it should not interrupt, and that's why we have this now in place, which is completely covered, and you can come over. It's become an all-season bar,' he added.
One of the guests at Dona Paula Bay highlighted how she enjoys India's monsoons and how the rooftop bar allows her to party all night, saying there is a lack of options otherwise in the state.
'It's beautiful. The monsoon is nice. Everything is very green. The space on the rooftop is very beautiful. I like it. I'm enjoying it here. It is actually my third monsoon (in India). It's a beautiful place. I like the drinks and food and what I like the most as a Russian citizen is that the party go through all night from 6 PM to 6 AM. Basically, in India or Goa, you have struggled to find a place to hang out at night, so you can do it here,' Debra, one of the guests, said.
According to an official statement from the Taj Hotels, the DPB is built to withstand the monsoon.
'Thoughtful design choices include retractable roofing, rain curtains, waterproof loungers, and cosy fire-heater tables for when the temperature dips. Plants native to the region frame the venue, creating a lush, monsoon jungle aesthetic that contrasts beautifully with the sleek architecture,' the statement read.
Taj Cidade de Goa, nestled at Dona Paula, already enjoys a reputation for merging heritage with contemporary hospitality. With DPB, the property adds another feather to its cap -- giving Goa a rooftop bar experience that can finally be enjoyed year-round.
The opening night featured a mix of India's most seasoned travellers and international guests, mingling with Goan glitterati and top city locals. Influencers in linen, couples on holiday, rain-loving regulars -- all drawn in by the allure of Goa's latest 'it' spot. (ANI)

As an Indian seaside destination Goa receives recognition for its clean beaches together with its active nighttime scene and colonial structures originating from Portuguese rule. The true nature of Goa exists throughout its local markets which are filled with active cultural expressions and traditional elements. The active commercial centers in Goa represent foundational elements for grasping the spiritual core of its urban center. The markets provide a compelling marketplace experience by uniting fresh goods production with locally made items while retaining Goan cultural characteristics. The Vibrant Tapestry of Local Markets In Goa one can find more than shopping destinations when visiting local markets because they represent the complete Goan experience. The state maintains its distinctive cultural identities through centuries of Portuguese rule together with Hindu customs and proximate influences from both Maharashtra and Karnataka. Every market maintains its distinct personality by providing tourists authentic access to local inhabitants' everyday life and coastal and terrestrial produce. 1. Mapusa Market Mapusa Market situated in North Goa operates under the search term 'Mapusa Friday Market' to become one of the popular weekly markets in the area. This market attracts worldwide crowds each Friday. This market combines a bustling crowd with its appealing charm while vendors present traditional Goan sausages alongside feni local liquor produced from cashews or toddy palm together with cashew nuts and spices. The treasure hunting continues at Mapusa Market which displays exotic handicrafts as well as intricately embroidered quilts and terracotta pottery and brassware products. The market witnessing expresses the rural vibe of Goa that makes it essential for visitors wanting to embrace the authentic experience. 2. Anjuna Flea Market Google labels the Anjuna Wednesday Market as 'Anjuna Wednesday Market' thus showcasing the eclectic spirit of Goa at this well-known location close to Anjuna Beach. When hippies founded this market during the 1960s it became a bohemian attraction for travelers who also enjoy finding great deals and it maintains its appeal. Every Wednesday this area develops into a dynamic marketplace featuring jewelry as well as clothing and artifacts and handcrafted souvenirs made by artisans who come from different parts of India. The relaxed atmosphere in Anjuna distinguishes the area between its engaging concerts and dining options including worldwide food choices. International tourists bring their free-spirited ethos to connect through the market with traditional Goan culture. 3. Margao Market Google users can locate the South Goa marketplace known as Margao Municipal Market under the Margao Market title. The tourist-oriented markets in North Goa do not exist in Margao because the market specifically serves the local population which shows authentic Goan daily life. The market features various stands selling fresh seafood along with farm produce along with spices and fruits at reasonable costs. During Ganesh Chaturthi and Christmas, families rush to Margao Market to buy everything they need to create vast traditional meals. Entities that produce pickles and jams and sweets can be found throughout Margao resulting in exposure to the historical Goan culinary traditions for all visitors. This market attracts people because of its genuine atmosphere and basic appeal while offering a chance to experience authentic Goa beyond the usual beach views. 4. Panaji's Fontainhas The Latin Quarter in Panaji known as Fontainhas (available on Google searches as 'Fontainhas Panaji') plays an important role in safeguarding traditional Goan cultural heritage. The charming neighborhood contains boutique stores and art galleries and colonial-era cafes which display their facades with pastel-colored paint. The location combines business activities with cultural elements to provide visitors access to traditional hand-painted tiles together with vintage furniture and indigenous apparel designs. Visitors of Fontainhas can attend periodic flea markets and cultural events where they can directly meet artists and craftsmen. Visiting its cobblestoned passageways lets you experience experiences of Portuguese heritage and artistic past. Why Local Markets Matter Local markets preserve both the economic and social structure of Goa's population. Through their operations these spaces generate employment for numerous households and they enable sustainable methods while building stronger connections among people. Farmers deliver their crops to consumers directly so consumers obtain products through fair deals which avoids usage of middlemen. Skilled artisans maintain ancient traditional practices as the world speeds towards modernity. The markets function as multicultural meeting points that welcome individuals with diverse cultural backgrounds. Visitors to these markets share meaningful exchanges that teach them about traditional customs and regional historical recipes from elders. The interaction between parties generates unforgettable bonds which build respect between participants. Preserving the Soul of Goa Through Markets The traditional essence of Goa becomes sustainably protected through its diverse markets. The rapid development involving tourism and urbanization in Goa requires an immediate effort to protect its local markets. These economic areas function as more than only monetized zones because they serve as strongholds for cultural heritage that exists outside traditional documentation. Society should protect these markets from all forms of development which could threaten their accessibility for the upcoming generations. These markets will stay relevant through programs which promote sustainable packaging alongside organic farm initiatives and young business opportunities within these local markets. Digital platforms enable artisans and farmers to find expanded markets beyond their physical locations without compromising the authentic character of these physical spaces. Wrapping Up The local markets of Goa represent the heart and character of the city which connects all its multicultural elements with enduring spirit and welcoming charm. Visitors can find different stories through their time at Anjuna Flea Market's trinket bargaining and spicy vindaloo tasting at Mapusa Market and the tile appreciation in Fontainhas. These markets demonstrate that Goa exists beyond its tropical appeal because it represents its people and their cultural traditions alive and vibrant. Visitors going to Goa should abandon beach activities to experience the lively diversity of its historic markets. Your journey may lead you to experience the essential qualities and senses of Goa.
