Nellore gets new 3D sweeping machines

Tirupati: Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana, along with Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, formally launched a fleet of 3D sweeping machines as part of the Swachh Bharat-Swachh Andhra initiative at the 54th division in Nellore city on Sunday.
The fleet of three machines, worth ₹1.50 crore, was procured by the Nellore Municipal Corporation to keep the city clean. Minister Narayana handed over the vehicles to the Swachh Andhra Corporation, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing cleanliness and sanitation.
He also appealed to the public to maintain the city's cleanliness and take ownership of their surroundings, branding it 'Our Nellore'.
Later, the minister inaugurated ration shops allocated by the state government, encouraging the public to utilize the facilities, which would be open during the first fortnight of every month.
Additionally, Narayana and Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy launched the 'Shadi Manzil' development works at Janardhan Reddy locality in the city. The Nellore city MLA and MP have jointly donated ₹1 crore to complete the Shadi Manzil works within four months.

CPI strongly opposes handing over Horsley Hills to Ramdev Baba
The Communist Party of India (CPI) National Secretary Dr. Narayana has strongly objected to the Andhra Pradesh government's alleged decision to hand over the iconic Horsley Hills in Madanapalle to Ramdev Baba and his Patanjali group. In a letter to the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday, Dr.. Narayana expressed serious objection, calling Patanjali a symbol of unethical corporate interests. 'Ramdev Baba is a corporate swami in disguise. Handing over a natural treasure like Horsley Hills to someone like him under the pretext of tourism and yoga development is unacceptable,' he said. Dr. Narayana said: 'It would have been more appropriate to entrust such a culturally rich site to the Jiddu Krishnamurti Foundation, which has long-standing philosophical roots in the region. Ramdev Baba should not be allowed entry into Andhra Pradesh,' he added, accusing the yoga guru of pursuing profit under the garb of spirituality. Meanwhile, CPI Andhra Pradesh State Secretary K. Ramakrishna criticised Mr. Naidu for pushing the Polavaram–Banakacharla project without completing the long-pending irrigation projects like the Velugonda tunnel. He said: 'The central government has already rejected the Banakacharla proposals, yet the state is going ahead with it unilaterally. This exposes the CM's questionable priorities.' Mr. Ramakrishna demanded clarity and transparency from the state government regarding the project and warned against sacrificing public interest for corporate or contractor gains. He reiterated that the CPI stands firmly against both the commercialisation of natural resources like Horsley Hills and the politicised handling of irrigation projects at the cost of people's welfare.

25,640 houses completed under PMAY in Nellore district
Nearly 89,577 houses have been sanctioned to the people in SPSR Nellore district under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and 25,640 houses have been completed so far, said Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy during the second DISHA (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) meeting, at Nellore Zilla Parishad office, on Tuesday. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy addressed the meeting as the DISHA Committee Chairman. Along with him, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister (MA&UD) Ponguru Narayana, District Collector O. Anand, Nellore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Y.O. Nandan, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Anam Arunamma, MLC Balli Kalyan Chakravarthy and others participated in the meet. The MP sought detailed information on various issues during the meeting and said that more than 7.21 lakh beneficiaries are receiving ration from 1,513 fair price shops in the district. He said that there are nine mega industrial projects and 33 large industries in the district, which provide employment to about 19,000 people. 'If there are any problems in the implementation of the schemes, we will immediately bring them to the attention of the Central government and steps will be taken to resolve the issues. The coalition government will provide the best support for the development of the district,' Mr. Prabhakar Reddy said. 'Of the total 31,231 soil tests, 29,714 samples have been collected so far. Drip irrigation sprinklers have been provided to over 5,700 farmers through the Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project. 24 projects have been undertaken under the Rural Infrastructure Fund at a cost of ₹30 crore. Infrastructure has been provided to 2,934 anganwadi centers in the district,' he added.

Advocates' role crucial in justice: CM to Bar council
1 2 Jaipur: Advocates are the backbone of the judicial system, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said on Sunday while addressing a delegation of the Rajasthan Bar Council. Sharma said the legal community plays a crucial role in nation building and that their dedication and service have given new dimensions to Indian justice. "Advocates are an inseparable part of our legal system. By ensuring timely justice to the underprivileged, they play a crucial role in nation-building," Sharma said. A delegation of the Rajasthan Bar Council had called on him to thanks him for the Rs 7.5 crore one-time assistance allocated to the Bar Council in the 2024–25 state budget. "Rajasthan Bar Council has been instrumental in implementing legal reforms, promoting legal education, and providing legal aid—these efforts are strengthening the state's judicial fabric," Sharma added. He also emphasised the state govt's commitment to improving judicial infrastructure. "We are working in a phased manner to enhance facilities across courts in Rajasthan," he said. Sharma encouraged advocates to contribute beyond their practice. "Just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspired the country through campaigns like Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, advocates too can play a key role in steering society in a positive direction."
