Machete assault outside Portage Avenue store: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police are searching for a teenage suspect after a man was seriously injured in a machete attack last week outside a west-end convenience store.
Officers responded to the assault on July 3 at 10:44 p.m. in the 1700 block of Portage Avenue. According to police, the victim was attacked by an unknown suspect with a machete, leading to serious injuries.
A passerby used a belt as a makeshift tourniquet to help the victim before emergency crews arrived. Officers from the West District applied a second tourniquet. The victim was moved to hospital in stable condition.
The suspect remains at large. He is described as a male between 15 and 17 years old, approximately 5'6' to 5'10' tall, with a slim build, light complexion, and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black Tupac T-shirt, ripped black jeans, dark sandals with white or grey socks, and carrying a grey backpack.
Police say he was accompanied by two other teens at the time of the assault.

Motorcyclist dies after collision in eastern New Brunswick

A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle collision in eastern New Brunswick over the weekend. A 36-year-old man from Riverview has died following a two-vehicle collision near Saint-Louis-de-Kent, N.B., early Sunday morning. The RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Route 11 between Exit 75 and Exit 64 near Saint-Charles around 3:10 a.m. Police believe the crash happened when a car, which was travelling southbound on Route 11, hit a motorcycle travelling in the same direction. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The Richibucto Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office also attended the scene. Both lanes of Route 11 were closed for several hours. According to police, officers were called to Avenue and Davenport roads for reports of the sound of gunshots. Police arrived to find evidence of gunfire at the scene and damage to an area restaurant. No injuries were reported and police say the investigation is ongoing.
