New Orleans Saints reveal their new jerseys: 'What's gold is new again'

USA Today22-07-2025
Cameron Jordan's wish was granted. On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints introduced the new gold jerseys their all-time sacks leader has spent years asking for. You can see them right here or in the video embedded below. It isn't a bad look at all; the shade of gold they chose matches the controversial black-and-gold helmets the Saints have worn sporadically in recent years. So now the "Color Rush" jerseys have their own corresponding white helmet, while the black lids get a clean new jersey to go with them. We'll have to tip our hats to the Saints for this one.
Altogether, this new look resembles something you'd see from a college program like the Colorado Buffaloes or the UCF Knights, which isn't a bad thing. Both of those schools use the same colors as the Saints and have uniforms that are popular with their fanbases. Going to them for inspiration makes sense. After years of the Saints wearing mismatched shades of gold, khaki, and beige, it's nice to finally see some cohesiveness in design.
Look good, feel good, play good. Hopefully it leads to more wins. The Saints went 0-4 in their black helmets, which were stuck with the white "Color Rush" uniforms and didn't do anyone any favors. Going back to the drawing board was a good decision. We'll keep an eye out for news of when the team will be taking these new kits into a game in 2025. This could be Jordan's last year as a pro, so it's cool to see him finally get his wish.

Drew Brees' former teammate says what we're all thinking about his Hall of Fame candidacy

New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the first time in 2026, as he has finally made it five years away from his last playing season by then. Not only every Saints fan, but every ball-knowing NFL fan agrees Brees is a first-ballot Hall of Fame lock; there is nothing to discuss when it comes to the topic; he has done everything you could ask from him, and put together an award list that goes on for about two pages on its own. Super Bowl winner, Super Bowl MVP, two-time OPOY, five-time All-Pro, 13-time Pro Bowler, seven-time NFL passing yards leader, four-time NFL passing touchdowns leader, owns three of the top five single-season completion percentages, Saints Hall of Famer, Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, most career 5,000 yard seasons, most consecutive games with a touchdown pass, 80,358 passing yards, 571 career passing touchdowns, 67.7% career completion rate, and for those who care, a 172-114 career record with a Saints team that lacked competent defensive play for many years. That is less than a quarter of what he did for New Orleans on the field, never mind off it. The only man above Brees in some of the key career passing statistics is Tom Brady, due to his extra 49 starts, who will also be pretty much the strongest lock for first-ballot Hall of Fame induction when he is eligible. But when it comes to efficiency, effectiveness in all scenarios, and just year-by-year dominance no matter who is surrounding him, Brees takes the cake. One of Brees' longtime teammates and fellow Super Bowl XLIV champion, punter Thomas Morstead, made clear his view of the eligibility for Brees, sharing a simple four-word response when discussing the upcoming 2026 class: That is about as simple as it gets, and anyone who played with or against him would likely have the same response when asked. Brees was lethal in every facet of his game, both in his prime and even towards the back-end of his career. While it is a complete injustice that he never received an MVP award, it just simply does not matter towards his eligibility, because the second you look at his numbers and profound impact on the team he played the majority of his career for, it is clear where he belongs. 36 days till the Arizona Cardinals' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 36?

With 36 days till the Cardinals open the season against the Saints, we look at the players who have worn No. 36. We are counting down to the start of the 2025 regular season for the Arizona Cardinals, and we are less than six weeks away. They will open the season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 7. That is 36 days away. As we count down the remaining days of the offseason, let's look at who has worn that number uniform over the years for the Cardinals. Who has worn No. 36? Cardinals players to wear No. 36 Safety Kitan Crawford, a rookie drafted in the seventh round, wears No. 36. We will see if he can make the team. The Cardinals have had a few solid players with No. 36. Budda Baker is probably the best but is known more for No. 3 now. Sikahema was very good and grew up in Mesa, Arizona. Lane was a good running back and Reaves was also good. And more recent Cardinals fans will remember how fun a player Stephens-Howling was. Marques Colston's game-winning touchdown catch is the Saints Play of Day 36

There are just 36 days until the New Orleans Saints kick off the 2025 regular season. Marques Coltson's 36-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown against the rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers is our Saints Play of the Day. You can watch the touchdown-scoring play for yourself here. Heading into the final week of the 2014 season, New Orleans was playing just for pride. They had a 6-9 record and were facing a 1-14 Buccaneers squad. Things got off to a pretty bad start for the Saints, as they were down 20-7 heading into the final frame. Mark Ingram was able to score a touchdown to make it a one-possession game just a minute into the fourth quarter. Later in the quarter, Keenan Lewis intercepted a Josh McCown pass to set New Orleans up at midfield with about five minutes left. On third down, Drew Brees connected with Colston over the middle of the field. The receiver ran the ball about 20 more yards into the endzone, 36 in total, setting up the eventual game-winning PAT. The Saints would go on to win 23-20 after a safety. Coincidentally, this score and eventual New Orleans victory helped the Buccaneers land the first overall selection in the 2015 NFL draft. They would go on to pick Jameis Winston, who became a fan favorite for the Saints from 2020 to 2023.
