Garcia, who has won 11 titles in her career, first reached the No. 4 spot in September 2018, however, following several inconsistent years filled with doubts and injuries, she took a break from tennis in March 2022 to recover from a foot injury.
The pause proved beneficial as she enjoyed a successful second half of the season, winning several titles, including the WTA Finals, and reaching the semifinals at the U.S. Open.
Two years ago, Garcia revealed in an interview that she struggled with bulimia for a period, triggered by losses and the pain from her lingering foot injury, which affected her daily life.
Garcia, who missed the Wimbledon due to a back injury, was shown the exit door early in the French Open 2025 as she wet down to Bernarda Pera in her opening fixture at the fabled red clay of the Roland Garros.

Shubman Gill Equals Gary Sobers Test Record, Needs 1 Run To...
Last Updated: Shubman Gill has proven his credentials in Test cricket with a memorable show on India's ongoing tour of England. India captain Shubman Gill is in the midst of a breakthrough series of his Test career that has seen him score truckload of runs. In his debut series as India Test captain, Gill has stepped up his game with four centuries from eight innings including a magnificent double ton against England. With a Test still remaining in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Gill can create several records. The 25-year-old on Sunday, scored a memorable hundred which was pivotal to India securing a hard-fought draw in Manchester after playing catchup for the majority of the match. He scored 103 off 238 and stitched a 188-run partnership with KL Rahul (90) to help the visitors recover from 0/2 after England had taken a huge 311-run lead. Gill thus drew level with the legendary Gary Sobers' 59-year-old record for the most runs scored by a visiting captain during a series in SENA countries. Sobers scored 722 from eight innings of five Tests during West Indies' 1966 tour of England. The legendary allrounder scored three centuries and two fifties on the tour. Gill has so far made 722 runs from eight innings of four Tests and needs 1 run to go past Sobers record. Most runs by a visiting captain in a series in SENA countries Overall, the record for the most runs in a single series by a captain is held by legendary Don Bradman of Australia who racked up 810 runs in 9 innings of a five-Test series against England at home in 1936-37. Gill is joint-third in this list. Gill's Sensational Show Prior to the start of England tour, there questions were raised over Gill's middling record in Test cricket. All five of his Test centuries before leaving for England came at home. The youngster has addressed the criticism with aplomb peeling four centuries with his overall Test average now in the early fourties. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
