Mother 'broken' after Brit, 26, dies in fall from Ibiza balcony

Tributes are pouring in for a British man who died after falling at a popular Ibiza hotel. Evan Thomson, 26, from Aberdeen, was in Spain for a belated birthday celebration when he fell at Ibiza Rocks Hotel on July 7. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Spain's Guardia Civil police force is currently investigating what happened. Tributes have been paid to the popular Scotsman. His mum, Lel Kellighan, wrote on Facebook: 'I'm absolutely heartbroken to write and tell you all, earlier this week my son Evan was in a tragic accident whilst on holiday with his friends in Ibiza and sadly passed away. 'We are all absolutely broken.' Ibiza Rocks, known for its famous DJ sets, said in a statement that Evan's death was 'truly tragic' and 'extremely sad'. 'Our senior management team onsite did everything possible to help the police with their investigation into events leading up to Evan's death, and to provide constant support from our customer services manager to Evan's friends,' they said. 'That has included them having 24-hour access to our senior manager for any help or questions, and giving them permission to pass on her mobile number to Evan's family should they wish to call us directly. 'They were very appreciative of all the help and support at such a difficult time. We are deeply saddened by Evan's death, and our thoughts continue to be with his family and friends at this truly difficult time.' On Facebook, friends shared memories with Evan. Vikki Greig wrote: 'My heart has broken since finding out, the biggest smile in any room!! He was always one of my favourite customers to see at work. 'Absolutely heartbreaking! Thinking of all of Evan's family at this time, rest easy boyo, you will be massively missed!' Ethan Cran wrote: 'What a good guy he was, always the life of the party. My condolences go out to his family and friends during these tough times.' Earlier this year, another British woman died at the adults-only Ibiza Rocks Hotel following the opening of the party season in the Spanish resort. The 33-year-old had collapsed in her room in the resort of San Antonio, unconscious and not breathing. More Trending Emergency services spent around 40 minutes performing CPR on her to try to revive her, but without success. Spanish media reported that the unnamed woman was suffering health problems. It is understood that she had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, a small battery-powered device fitted under the collarbone to monitor heartbeats and treat abnormal heart rhythms using electric impulses. It is commonly used by people at high risk of serious arrhythmias, and it delivers a shock if it detects one.
